Hello CIDians !!
Here we come back with ...

~~THE DOTW !!~~

Well I hope you all have an idea of what DOTW is right ??
Well even if you don't let me clarify 😊

DOTW = Discussion Of The Week !!

Well every week one topic of discussion will be posted and some questions regarding it. Every Member (Hopefully everyone) will answer those questions in their way. You can be for or against the topic.
You can quote examples, get funny with your responses .. anything ..

But yeah .. one thing to be kept in mind NO BASHING. Yes you heard me right .. no bashing of the show, actors, characters,CV's etc. will be accepted. Let's have a healthy discussion 😊

SO the topic for this week's DOTW is

What's In A Name ?

A famous quote which very well implies to our show CID.
Well as we have seen these days, and this is a hot topic of discussion too on IF. The names and titles of the episodes are ummm...aaa... different.
Different in the sense quite unexpected and at times weird.
So here we discuss them.

I'm putting below 5 questions which are mandatory to answer 😛 ... though you can always add something extra. 😊

Q1) Do you think the episode Title really matters ? Does it actually have an effect of your outlook towards the episode ?

Q2) You agree that the quality of episode names has deteriorated with time, in general from which era you think this has started and what could be the reason behind that .. Carelessness on just laziness to think of something new ?

Q3) Name 5 most catchy titles of CID till date and 5 really bad ones, if given a chance what would you replace the bad titles with ?

Q4) What is your reaction about misleading titles ? We all do have an image formed in our mind when we look at the title of the episode .. which one do you think has been quite misleading ?

Q5) If given a chance to meet the CV's what would you tell them about the weird case names coming up ? (in 100 or less words)

Bonus Question 😆

Yup .. a new feature ... we'll catch the highlight of the week's episode and a question or rather an opinion of yours is asked on that 😛

The highlight of this week is

Nikhil banging 😆

Oh c'mon we all have to accept it .. like it or not but every single person noticed him banging the ac door and crying out loud for Daya sir

So here's the bonus question ..
You get a chance to talk to Nikhil and he asks you about your opinion on the scene .. you have the chance to be very frank, falsely praise or genuinely praise(if you liked that scene 😉 ) .. or tell him in the most witty way 😛 .. so go ahead and give him your opinion on that scene !!

Hope you'll enjoy this week's DOTW ... we'll continue to come up with really interesting ones 😊

Hey! nice idea Bhavana.

There's a lot in a name. That's why all of us love our names and hate it when people intentinally or unintentionally make mistakes😊
'll certainly take part.
one doubt, should we deal with these questions altogether or answer them in different posts?🤡

The title of this thread is almost giving credit to the master dramatist Shakespeare . He used this as a device in his drama Romeo and Juliet. Juliet tells this aloud to herself about the boy she is interested in. Reams have been written on this. So literary discussion this is not.

So following in the idea I'd say everything is in a name. Here all is in a title. It can generate interest or it can sound pompous. But a name or a title of a show tells about all the possible possibilities that can come up in it. Here many can quote the great story of Buddha who pointed out that people and their names need not come up to much. But regarding a title of a story it prepares the readers to ready themselves to delve into its depths and come out satiated.

Titles even invoke a feeling of nostalgia or a possibility of solutions to problems personal or proffesional. A title may show the viewer how things remotely connected can make all the difference. Finally it can help in promoting hte show.
Many a time the title has made me want to watch an episode against many an obstacle. some times it has made me feel oh not again! but many a times I feel the show is complete when I see the title and proceed to the rest of the story😊

my my! this has become a sort of high thinking long post. Bhavana you are responsible for generating this academia to make its presence felt😉😛. Thank you all for reading through this😊

Haila. Itna saare sawal. Jab dekha tha toh socha nahi tha ke itne questions honge. 😆
Okay let's start.
Does the episode title really matter? I say not anymore. It doesn't matter what the episode title says, the case is almost never on parallel with it. In fact the naming of each episode seems to just keep going downhill.
I would say almost since 2009, this has been happening. Probably around when we had our first new entry after Vivek and Tasha. 😉 I don't know why it's happening. Maybe it's carelessness. Maybe it's laziness. Maybe it's because they've run out of ideas. Maybe it's because they're just tired of trying to name each episode. Who knows. *shrugs shoulders*
Ooh, I have a hard time with names, so I'll say, any name from before 2009 was really catchy. And any name after 2009 a bit dull.
I can give one example of a misleading title. CID Main Daraar. When I saw this, I thought it was a real daraar. I didn't want a YSPT. I didn't want a daraar even, but if you're going to name it that then you should give us a real daraar. And there was nothing.
If I could meet the CVs, I would tell them to name the CID episodes anything simple, as long as it relates to the plot. We don't get hooked by the title, we get hooked by the plot. So make a good plot and we'll accept it even with a simple title, like Child Kidnapping.
And now the best part. The bonus for Niki. 😆 Niki, I'm sorry. Maine kabhi jhooti tarif karna nahi sikha hai. Isli sach bolna parega. Aur sach yehi hai ke woh scene kya, tum kisi bhi scene main ache nahi lagte ho. Kya hai naa Niki, tumne usse scene main kuch zada hi overacting kardi. Arre yaar, tum toh aise ro rahe the, aur aise maar rahe the AC dooor ko jaise ke tumhara pyaar kho gaya tha...Ab agar iske aage kuch kaha toh main hi kuch zada bol doongi. Isli Niki bas itna hi. 😆

Everything is in the name...

Just imagine.. If Romeo and Julliet was named as "Romeo ka lappa jhappa julie ke saath" and if King Lear was named as "Bewakuf King" what would be your reaction???

This is the very case with our CID ... Irritating... Embarrassing... B grade movie type names are being given.. 😡

and It is not due to carelessness... Its because they think having hinglish names attracts both English speaking and non English speaking audience... If it was only English.. then they would lose out on the audience who don;t understand hi-fi English words...

Misleading titles... are still manageable... they are mostly exaggerated names...just to not reveal the whole suspense in the beginning... but silly.. hinglish names are 🤢

Q1) Do you think the episode Title really matters ? Does it actually have an effect of your outlook towards the episode ?

I wouldn't say it's of paramount importance, but it certainly does matter notably as far as I'm concerned. To some extent, I equate it with finesses in one's appearance or grooming – subtleties in dressing sense, hairstyle and body language, for example. While your overall performance and demeanor is what gets you through an interview or viva, first impressions certainly do matter. The examiner/board looks out for that. They will note points like an open top button in an otherwise impeccably crisp suit – those say more than words to the right person. Heck, a lot of us note such stuff subconsciously upon first glance on someone. It's ingrained in our psyche due to evolutionary development.

This may not be the perfect analogy for the impact of the episode titles, but it sure does come close. The difference between something like "The Case of the Mysterious Abduction" and "CID Ki Jung Kidnappers Ke Sung" may be negligible to some, but vast to others, depending on what one is looking for. If you observe, it'll speak volumes about the team assembling the episode behind the scenes – their influences, reading preferences, directorial intent and what not. The first title gives me the impression of somebody enthusiastic about mystery/thriller classics and willing to sincerely emulate their essence, while the second one feels like something intended at the Chacha Chaudhary audience. The rhyme-ish nature of the latter is itself an indicator for the same.

So, to sum up… my answer for both is yes. 😉

Q2) You agree that the quality of episode names has deteriorated with time, in general from which era you think this has started and what could be the reason behind that .. Carelessness on just laziness to think of something new ?

I'd say it certainly has, yes. It began back in early 2008 or so when the person doing the honours apparently grew real fond of the word "Khooni". And for a long time afterwards, all we got were generic names like "Khooni Swimming Pool", "Khooni Khel" and so on. It's gone worse since 2010 with the titles often becoming Hinglish amalgamates. D'oh!

Q3) Name 5 most catchy titles of CID till date and 5 really bad ones, if given a chance what would you replace the bad titles with ?

The best titles – The Case of the Talkative Skeleton, The Case of the Healthy Patients, The Comatose Killer, The Mysterious Mr. Arvind, Waqt Bataega Khooni Kaun.

There are more as well, but it's remarkable to notice how these titles would stand out to a newcomer who's going through a list of CID episodes and deciding which ones to watch ones first. Look at how the first three make good use of an oxymoron to make them seem intriguing.

Here are some of the worst offenders and my suggested replacements (in no particular order) –

(a) Azaadi Ki Jung ACP Pradyuman ke Sang 1 and 2 – "Independence Day Special: The Missing Cop" and "Independence Day Special: Jungaar's Last Stand".

(b) Khatre Mein Tasha – "The Case of The Mysterious Gash".

(c) Khooni Bhavishyavani – "The Case of the Deadly Prophecy" (I'm using this as a placeholder for all those Khooni/Qatil/Khoon Ka Raaz XYZ Ke Paas/etc titles. They're spectacularly awful.)

(d) Khooni Ka Pardafash – "A Clue In Metal"

(e) Abhijeet Ki Maa – "The Case of the Inadvertent Witness"

Q4) What is your reaction about misleading titles ? We all do have an image formed in our mind when we look at the title of the episode .. which one do you think has been quite misleading ?

My reaction? Oh well. Earlier, it was this - . Nowadays, I just shrug and go, "Bravo FW – you've done it again!"

There are too many to list in the misleading category. I'd say both "CID Under Fire" and "Khatre Mein Tasha" take the cake – both those titles had very little to do with the bulk of the actual case. For example, in the latter, you'd expect Tasha to be held hostage or abducted early in the episode but nothing happens until the very end of the case, which wasn't even focused on her at all. It's ridiculous.

Q5) If given a chance to meet the CV's what would you tell them about the weird case names coming up ? (in 100 or less words)

I'd rephrase my answer to the first question and present it concisely. Case titles provide a first impression to the audience and it's vital to acknowledge their role in the overall impact of the episode, big or small, and I'd be grateful if they could devote an additional couple of minutes to coming up with a decent, more intriguing one.

You get a chance to talk to Nikhil and he asks you about your opinion on the scene .. you have the chance to be very frank, falsely praise or genuinely praise(if you liked that scene ) .. or tell him in the most witty way .. so go ahead and give him your opinion on that scene !!

If I were very frank...

^ That's one classic image... so tareef hui na? 😉 😛

Seriously speaking, I'd probably tell him that I do appreciate his effort but found the scene very embarrassing, though the writers and director share the blame. I'm not really good at coming up with instant witty comebacks. 😆

yes it matters... they are just like the Title of any Book... Wrapping of any Gifts... Makeover of any Bride/Groom and Outfits on any Occassions... it really matters... it must be Catchy and apt to the theme and yes its effect as sometimes only Title focus the whole attention and U dipped in that thing to see either how much a Creative person justified that Title...!!!

Q2) You agree that the quality of episode names has deteriorated with time, in general from which era you think this has started and what could be the reason behind that .. Carelessness on just laziness to think of something new ?

yes... now a days the Quality of episode degraded day by day... so many reason the first in my opinion... the amount of Hardworking and Enthusiasm less especially the working of behind the Screen people... the Passion was Completely missing especially after 2009 era where we would trying to encourage ourselves to watch the Episode... everything Counts in it from Upper dept till the lower dept of Onscreen as well off screen working abilities/capabilities...!!!

Q3) Name 5 most catchy titles of CID till date and 5 really bad ones, if given a chance what would you replace the bad titles with ?

Catchy one
the case of Impossibal murder
the case of Dr wife
the case of Stolen car
Behropiya
ABHIJEET in Danger

Bad ones
Raaz bad uncle ka
DAYA ki Dulhan ka Raaz
Mysterious Case of Real eye in Dolls eye
Badli laash ka Rahasya
Radioactive Gas creates a Massive Trouble

Q4) What is your reaction about misleading titles ? We all do have an image formed in our mind when we look at the title of the episode .. which one do you think has been quite misleading ?

i was Feeling bash my head... its really annoying to see the Title and then find out the Reason of this title in whole... yes we formed a Picture in Our mind... then prepare ourselves with a new excitment level and lastly dozed...!!!
CHASE...!!!

Q5) If given a chance to meet the CV's what would you tell them about the weird case names coming up ? (in 100 or less words)

i just Suggest them to plz leave the Position Volunteeraly otherwise...😈

WOW wat a Bonus😉... Honestly I dunt have any problem with ABHY SHUKLA as an actor and NIKHIL as a Character because now i m watching CID after Heading Out My Head which is still in Good Working Condition😈... about that Specific Scene... if any of Senior Officer Order something to His Junior it does not mean that Junior Officer obeying that like a Pupet as NIKHIL entered in an Official Force but He did not think for a while to Ignite His brain or I said He has No Brain or the Writer/Director taken all Blame... if He found that the AC Duct was Closed why He Pressing it by hitting His Fist either to Pulling it with some Pointed thing😲... why He did not think once to Call His Senior although the Signals did not come or not working😕... why He did not get Back to the Entering Point😕 and still Craying BHA BHA like a Soap Serial Heroine😡 at the same spot till His Senior did not give Him the Next Order... oh Man... Wat a Classical Scene😉... Hanse Hanse kay Aaansoo nikl aayey😭... i just suggest NIKHIL plz try other option...!!!😈
