I am hoping that once this euphoria over TAM and TRP ends, some good sense will prevail upon serial-makers.

Makers and Channels both. Just look at this for example.

The latest show on Sony Saas Bina Sasural's first promos were out without finalising the lead actor. Lead actor was finalised after shooting started, as per report I happen to read. These people are currently only busy making proposals.

In the golden days the Makers had to submit the full story broken in 13 episodes with cast details only then DD would pass them. Even Ramayan and Mahabharat would have to do for 13 week extention and justify why they need so many episodes. But this mad craze for TRP has ruined it all. Channels has not patience, everyone is followign the bhed chaal. These days everything is a Daily (Gosh even Aahat is a daily), arre does the script, the story have that much depth to go on and on, that no one cares to see. The Baat Pakki show, whenever I am switching the channel and I happen to see a glimpse, the lead pair is enacting some bollywood hit number, that is how they fill these daily soaps.

When StarOne started, it was a treat for the viewers. It gave something for the Non-Saas Bahu saga audience before they took facination for the stupid love story shows. Today SONY is at a position where it does not have much to lose, their TRPs are as it is low. If they take the risk of offering something out of the box, it may take some time but they will find the audience for it. Patience is needed but they are just stuck in the same old trap.
