A lot of people seem to be criticzing MM for his enactment as HD. I would just like to say that I thought he was very good, but his acting style completely contradicted what was shown in both the promo and the episodes of AC. MM did a marvelous job, but that's just how he acts, with a very tapori attitude, yet I felt he was not the right choice for HR just because of that. I feel FW should've thought about this, and either chosen some other actor that was consistent with the character of HR shown prior to the finale, or made the character such that it matched Manjerkar Sir's style of acting(which wasn't possible since lazy FW had shot the episodes of AC before they even chose the villain)

Q1)
What is your view in this topic? Where do you think FW is faltering in giving us solid villains.
first of all let me share my view in the topic, what a villain is. for me the villain is the most important part in a crime thriller. this shows cannot survive without the villain. so a detective show is in need of a villain like sherlock holmes's Moriarty. about FW villains , i cannot say that it was so bad. sometimes it was bad and sometimes it was good. anyway it is rare to see good villains with them.
Q2) Do you think have gone from bad to worse as far as Villains in CID are concerned ??
no, i dont think so. the CID villians were average. it is not so best, or so worst. the best villians were born and died in one episode. so the short life span made them less memorable.
Q3) What impression did the promo give you of HD ?? Did HD live upto your expectations ??
HD...i dont want to say more, because the promo HD stole my heart and original broke my heart.
Q4) What about Criminals during normal cases, how do you think they are being characterized ??
the characterisation is worst. they are silly thiefs or one slap criminals who does not have any character. they live for one episode ad die for ever after that. i feel pity to them always when they were compelled to tell the truth with Daya's single slap.
5) Who has been the best and worst Villain in CID so far and why? Which actor rose above the script and created a better Villain purely on performance?
The best villian, for me it was aditya srivastav. as Paresh in stolen gun. he is a wonderful actor and he is awesome as a vilian. as Rockey in behrupiya he set some standards which is unbeatable. then Murali sharma, in O's tressure.
the worst villian was Mahesh Manjerekar. he killed the complete episode because of his languge.

Q1) What is your view in this topic? Where do you think FW is faltering in giving us solid villains.
According to me,the plot, the positive characters as well as the negative characters have an equal share in a crime story.Even if one of these is not up to the mark, the story fails. In the recent past, the plots of most of the stories have also faltered,in addition to the villians. So we cannot blame just the one who plays the villian for doing a bad job.FW is faltering in every department nowadays-be it the plot, the side actors, the proper distribution of the main actors, the background music... the list is seemingly endless! Its high time FW does a self-checking and figures out where its lacking and what needs to be done to get back to form.
Q2) Do you think have gone from bad to worse as far as Villains in CID are concerned ??
Not really,as even in 07 we had the don who's one of the worst villians in C.I.D., whereas in 09 we had Rocky, who was a first class villian. Now again this year we've had the great H.D.,who is at par with the previous don.So we cant say that the standard of villians has been constantly deteriorating.
Q3) What impression did the promo give you of HD ?? Did HD live upto your expectations ??
The HD in the promo was wicked, suave, classy, and looked every bit like an International Don.I was expecting a superb act from HD,which would leave us gasping and hating him to the core. The HD in the finale was not even 5 percent of an "international don."He gave me an impression of a chalu-chapaty,local Mumbaiyya tapori, not fit from any angle to be called a hard-core criminal/don.Basically,the HD in the promo and the one in the finale were poles apart..
Q4) What about Criminals during normal cases, how do you think they are being characterized ??
The characterisation is poor,as they r using the same actors as villians in more than one cases. That way they spoil the whole suspense of the story,b'coz looking at the actor only we can make out that he/she is the villian. FW better pay more attention to the screen tests of the side-actors,sometimes a villian just doesnt act like one.Its very important for the audience to be convinced that so and so is a villian who can commit a grave crime like murder or can mutilate dead bodies.
5) Who has been the best and worst Villain in CID so far and why? Which actor rose above the script and created a better Villain purely on performance?
In my opinion, the best villian was Nakul.Rahil Azam did full justice to the character of Nakul. The worst villians were both the dons.I somehow cant decide who was worst.Murli Sharma's performance was good, even though the plot of Dr. O was poor and similarly the man-eater really managed well to scare the wits out of me,although the story was unimpressive.

Q1) What is your view in this topic? Where do you think FW is faltering in giving us solid villains.

Well first of all I created the topic so my view on this has been said before !!! A villain and the cops have an equally important role in making any episode a success. If a villain is interesting then till the last minute the excitement remains on how the CID catches him/her.If a villain doesn't do his job well then the interest in the plot gets lost !!! A villain should be one which the audience will hate and will wait for him/her to get caught !! Now coming to FW faltering here,I believe the main reason behind that would be the availability of no proper story !! It's just 'Khoon' stories that are there but even the khoon story can be made interesting with proper screenplay and direction. Anyways sticking to villain,FW is faltering majorly here !!! The person who is the Casting Director needs to understand the role of the culprit in a crime show !!! Without a culprit there would be any crime show existing !!! Improper casting for a particular episode is being done. These days the culprits are committing crime without no proper reason and above their capabilities as if they have been trained at this !! We have a 40 year old woman killing a person and cutting the body and then throwing the pieces here and there and wonder what all !! If that same thing was being done by a strong guy it wouldn't seem stupid atleast !! So FW needs to work on their casting in order to have a good criminal. Moreover the stories should be such that would make an actor feel like performing !! If the stories are worthless then no matter what everything turns out to be wrong !!

Q2) Do you think have gone from bad to worse as far as Villains in CID are concerned ??

I agree !!! Throughout the years we have seen a gradual downfall in the quality of culprits !!! This year the downfall has been major !!! When we think of a criminal an image should be created in our minds !! but these days the criminals and they're motives leave us laughing !!! They're was a time when a villain of an episode would scare us !!! Would keep us tensed till the last minute and hold our breath and when CID would get hold them we would go "YAY" !!! But that's definitely not the scenario now !!! Criminals today when its a time of technological advancement have become more and more stupid !!! They leave out they're collar pin or something else so that CID finds out about them !!!There's nothing villainous in the villains these days !! It's been long since we've got a true-pakka villain !!

Q3) What impression did the promo give you of HD ?? Did HD live upto your expectations ??

Coming to HD !! The promo was awsome and I feel the guy in the promo is only HD not the one we saw in Aakhri Takkar !! I want to retain the promo guy as HD in my mind !! He was 'class' !! I mean the promo itslef made me feel so interested that if HD turned out be as shown in the promo,I bet even with a nonsense script Aakhri Takkar would have been watchable !! The promo HD was suave, young and 'INTERNATIONAL" !!! Not the HD we saw !!! I wouldn't blame MM for that !! The character of HD wasn't well conceived so no matter what it wasn't meant to succeed !!! Anyways AC has been a nightmare for me !! I prefer forgetting it !!!

Q4) What about Criminals during normal cases, how do you think they are being characterized ??

I wonder if there is anything like characterization nowadays !!! The criminals in normal cases are nowhere close to what criminals are !! They aren't worth being called criminals !! They make us feel as if they were just getting bored at home and so for time pass decided to kill someone, cut him/her and throw the body pieces !!! Totally obnoxious !! I don't from any angle consider them as villains !!

5) Who has been the best and worst Villain in CID so far and why? Which actor rose above the script and created a better Villain purely on performance?

Best villain for me no doubt till date has been Paresh !! The character was so real !! The expressions Adir Sir gave and the involvement he showed in Paresh's character is simply unforgettable !! He is definitely my answer to the second part of the question as well !! The motive behind the culprit was simple yet did not sound stupid !! Aditya Srivastava as an actor gave life to the script !!! His every single expression and emotion was lovely !! The amount of involvement he showed in the role of Paresh, till date I've never seen any actor do when they portray a villain

Apart from him good villains (I'll stick to the villain not the one who played it) - Rockey ( Rockey was a pakka villain, last minute suspense and gave tough competition to officers)
Pawan Malhotra in Dishonest cop,Rahil Azam did a good job !! Well I also liked Aman Verma in Return Of Jewel thief !! A true criminal !!

Worst Criminals-Well even though HD wasn't as expected but he still doesn't top my list !!! The award till date definitely goes to the other don !!! The don from Final Revenge !!! A villain wanting to avenge ACP and writing his name's letters on the bodies of people and even imitating different voices including female voices and all .... That's horror !!! Totally stupid and not at all what a villain should do !! Along with him I'd like to add the killer from the latest Joker Bank Robbery one !!! Again i didn't find anything villainous in the villain !!! Well I guess most of the culprits these days fall into this list !!! I don't see any of them as villains !! They're just people bored with their lives and in order to do something innovative are killing people and are inventing new ways to cut bodies !!! We've see body parts cut, half body cut and no wonder what !!! Soon to add innovation we'll see diagonal cut bodies etc. HD was a good villain only if his role was properly conceived !! He would have been dangerous !!! I mean he was one who did go to the limit of having our officers drugged and even because of him we had our duo aiming at each other !!! So I wouldn't blame the villain HD !!! He was just plainly foolish guy that's it !! Would have been a memorable criminal had they not spoiled everything in aakri takkar !!

Last but not the least I'd like to thank everyone who liked this topic !!! Thanks for the encouragement !!

Rockey is scoring good marks, and joker HD is the worst as per reviews till now. Good to read the reviews by cidians on this topic.

But why no discussions here?

For me, the best villain was played by Milind Gunaji in Blackmailed Victims. Such a cool, calm and intelligent villain. Not in hurry but reigned terror on people. I also like Amar Verma in Return of Jewel Thief. Again one more solid performance as villain from him. I think Those two are the top criminal till now CID faced with.

These days CID is lacking that solid villain which they used to get. These cheap craps made scene weird and lousy rather making it exciting and hard hitting. And the Latest Version of HD, really an awful sample. I couldn't expect that from Fireworks. In fact I wonder , where is that guy in promo, playing HD in Dark. Even he was the perfect choice for that role.

I really liked HD in promo. He had all to be HD.

There's a last question - Who rose above the script. None of you have answered that, including the topic starter. 😛

I did, if you look at my post. I think a few others have also mentioned that.

Debayon, your post sort of implies that Aditya sir rose above the script. right?

What I understood by the question was a really bad story where the villain acted well. Stolen Gun was a good story, so I didn't consider this episode for this category.
