What I understood by the question was a really bad story where the villain acted well. Stolen Gun was a good story, so I didn't consider this episode for this category.
A lot has already been said. I don't have much to add.
Q1. What is your view in this topic? Where do you think FW is faltering in giving us solid villains?
As said by many, a crime investigation is interesting only when the villain or the criminal gives CID a challenge to catch him or her. This sadly is not happening these days. Frankly CID's intelligence is not being challenged at all, DETECTION, that word has lost its meaning. The only stress these days on how brutally the victim was killed and then is does not matter if the criminal they finally reveal is capable of such a crime or not. Like mid-aged unfit women killing youngsters by putting in front of the electric saw or cutting their body into pieces with no help. Apart from totally implausible criminals, they are shown highly foolish. They are very forthcoming and helping CID to find them. The main problem today is that writers are just not thinking from the Criminal's point of view. The Criminal just don't have any substance these days, they too deserve some credit for their intelligence. Apart from this motive of crime is equally important to create an engaging crime investigation which is totally missing these days. We have some really stupid reasons for brutal murders and of this the one I hate the most is - "maine use maar diya kyon ki woh CID ko sab batane wala tha /wali thi".
I think FW is faltering because -
1) Writers not thinking for Criminal's point of view
2) Lack of characterization
3) Lack of solid motives
4) Stress on Brutality than crime investigation
5) Using the same actors over and over again.
Q2. Do you think have gone from bad to worse as far as Villains in CID are concerned??
Like many have said worse is an understatement. The standard of Average Villain i.e. criminals in normal cases is at an all time low. As I said they are such foolish people who leave behind their real names, etc in short do all that, which can lead the CID team to them. @DemonStar has given some nice examples of how Average Villains were, once upon a time. They were far superior that the so called super villain HD. Adding all this, one important issue is the actors who play these parts. Look at the killers from "Subway Murder", "Manav Bomb", such pathetic performances. The villains as characters don't have much depth and bad acting makes them even more worthless.
Q3) What impression did the promo give you of HD?? Did HD live up to your expectations??
Seeing the promo (a superb short film) I thought wow finally we are going to break away from the normal "one-slap" criminals and look at something bigger and what did we get to see a Roadside Tapori not even worth being a pocketmaar being called an International Don. HD is the biggest joke ever. The portrayal and characterization was so bad that if the real ones see this act they will feel offended for tarnishing their image in public. I want to forget he existed.
Q4) What about Criminals during normal cases, how do you think they are being characterized??
The Average Villain these days has no characterization, no real motive, no acting talent and are here just for a finish off job. The worst of all we get to see the same faces all the time. The less said the better.
Q5. Who has been the best and worst Villain in CID so far and why? Which actor rose above the script and created a better Villain purely on performance?
The Best enacted criminal according to me was Paresh (THE CASE OF THE STOLEN GUN). Adi Sir did such an amazing job there. He had an author backed role, a solid motive for his action and he played the part to the hilt. It was a flawless performance. The credit also goes to the script, a brilliant act supported by a brilliant script.
The second who comes close is the Villain from THE CASE OF THE PANTHER MENACE. I don't know the name of this actor but I think he did a superb job. He has been around for a long time in CID and off late he seems to have forgotten how to act but that role of a mentally unstable forest officer who was trying to save the forest was nothing short of brilliant.
Some Hardcore Villains whom I just hated - Rocky (Aditya Srivastav in Beherupiya), CR (Makrand Deshpande in Man Eater), Nakul (Rahil Azam) and Jonny (Aman Varma in Return Of The Jewel Thief).
Then some average Villains I liked are - Nagesh Bhosle (THE CASE OF CRY FOR HELP, THE CASE OF THE FATHER'S REVENGE), Ravi Gosain (THE CASE OF THE BOLTED DOOR), Pawan Malhotra (THE CASE OF THE DISHONEST COP), Milind Gunaji (THE CASE OF THE BLACKMAIL VICTIMS), Akshay Anand (THE CASE OF THE POISONED CHOCOLATES). There are some more but these on the top of my list.
If I have to pick one from all cases aired this year then I will go for Raman (Ali Hassan in Khatra Chemical Bomb Ka).I think he did a good job.
Coming to the Worst Villain, there is a strong competition between the Don (Don's Final Revenge) and HD. The only reason the former wins is because HD had lesser screen time than him. Apart from these two there was one more villain, a total let down, the Terrorist (ACP Pradyuman Giraftaar). Almost all criminal shown these days fall under this category, they are all foolish and worthless. It hurts to see CID waste its time on these jokers.
To answer the second part of the question, IMO the actor who rose above the script and made a better Villain purely on performance is Murli Sharma. We have seen him in Hostage and as Dr. O, both were rubbish stories but he rose above the script by pure performance. I soooooooo wish he played HD, at least we would not remember him as a joke. Apart from him I think Amit Sadh (Dynamite) and Amarr Upadhyay (Return Of The Clown) rose above the script.
😊 Whenever I like a performance I try to find the name of the actor. It's my way of acknowledging their work.
Does anyone know the names of the Villain from Panther Menace and our regular villain who appears in the opening credits?
Just last week parth shared a bts where he is fully drenched and there are some visible injuries on his face. but this scend never came and last...
