I found this review in the online edition of HT City dated 27 May 09.

Chittod Ki Rani Padmini ka Johur

The queen of Chittod commits Johar (jumps into fire) to save the dignity of her family in the 13th century. Facts need to be checked......Rajput women never exposed like they do in this show.

The show seems to be influenced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali 's Devdas and Jodhaa Akbar. How about some originality guys? Urdu is spoken with a hint of Marathi in it. They could have used natural sound instead of studio recorded background score which is jarring. Tejaswini, Rohit and Mukesh do a fine job but they need backing from the rest of the cast and the director. The action and set design deserve full marks.

Cast: Tejaswini Lonari, Rohit Bakshi and Mukesh Rishi

Rating: 😔

They actually have a unhappy face as the rating

thanx 4 the info dear...bt the serial jus strtd...we must gve them time 2 ...u cnt xpect wonders in 1 shot or in an epsde!everyrthgs perfect ...the sets, stry n actg...definately it will catch up!

actually we expected a lot from it,, sets are awesome,, & wen its a project of Dr. Chandra Prakash Dwivedi if i am not wrong (Chanakya fame) our expectations were much more ,, regarding actors , de are trying dre best but????

Mukesh Rishi is perfect for d role

Rohit Bakshi-- trying v hard ,, good effort , but something is missing but will catch up with time , think so

Tejaswini Lohari- only one thing ,, without any offences & a fact- Rani Padmini was one of d most beautiful woman in World History, &

Aamna may have been perfect

but for Art direction 100% marks

To be frankly honest, I don't think we should criticise the show unless we can prove it ourselves that we can make the show better by producing a better one.

If you think logically, this show needs to be the way it is so that people watch it. Of course it will have things wrong with it, Jodhaa Akbar wasn't totally correct, but it is up to us as the audience to watch the show if we like it and not watch the show if we don't. Honestly, I don't think we can say that the acting is bad or the whole thing is wrong just yet as ratilal pointed out.

Please don't jump to conclusions and start rating the show before we have seen much of it. I'm not stopping you from not watching the show, I just want to make this forum a nicer place.

^ Message is to those that criticise..... who are just hypocrites!

Nicely put sattvik.

It's too early to judge how good (or how bad) the show is. According to me, I think it's fantastic. I can only begin to imagine how difficult it is to make something this grand on such a large scale and too for a moderate period of time. We must give credit to the cast and crew for taking such a step and I wish them all the luck for the future coming epis.

Whoever wrote HT review doesn't even have a clue about Padmavathy.

Padmavathy was Princess of Singhala Deep (Present Day Sri Lanka). Sri Lanka's costumes are a bit different and may be termed as modern. While rest of India had their women inside the house, the women in that part were at par with men which we saw in the first episode.

She is not a Rajput.

Her dressing style will change once she becomes Maharani of Chittor. She will adapt to Rajasthani style then.

Another thing is that every account in History should be treated as a fiction. These people start scrutinizing it as if they know everything.

One thing though I accept that Padmavathy (later Padmini) was one of the prettiest women in History so they could have selected someone beautiful. But this lady is okay. Let us see.

yup history is confusing because it has been modified by all authoer time by time some times the way you get all difference story you get confused so it is difficult to judge by history perspective

and it is only three epi so far have been telecasted how we can judge anything from that it is not fair...........with any one ......

and for me all actor seems strong for their role and this girl is beautiful too.....now mentally we have habit to compare it with soemone else that's not fair................

and i agree with many here that in shrilanka they have different rules and regulations........like women are more authoritive and we realise that with first epi the way she fought as padam singh.......

even in movie jodha akbar so many things has been changed according to make it presentable and audiance liking...........did they show any of akabar's other wife in that movie no..............

so in this drama also they have to change bit .........so audiance like it

and i loved it actually it's great try and if this is produced by chankya maker............dr. chandra prakash than i have very high hope because so far he has always done justice with his all historic drama....he is great in his own way..........

like if you take name of rana ratan singh in many different article his name has been taken differently like one article tell him rawal ratan singh.....than other says rana ratan sen...and etc.........so it is difficult task to bring any historic story in front.hats of to those who tries at least that way we actually come to know little bit of our glorious history

where we can find woman like padmini................who sacrifice her own life instead getting dishonor by someone..........

but Dr. Chandra Prakash Dwivedi will be perfect as far as facts are concerned . & it was published that lots of research work had been done to culminate d project in 104 Episodes.

Ya time is to be given as far as acting is concerned.Acting wise its not at all bad. & regarding criticism, one will criticise if only d project is viewed minutely & if the expectations are high. let see , 😊😊

we have full faith on d maker ,, but we also remember wat we read ,, dat Rani Padmavati was one of the most beautiful of the world in those times & she is till know known for her beauty.😊

but wish all d best for the project
