so far we have got to 5 coins

Five coins have a total of 32 permutations: H = Head & T = Tail

5 H's 4 H's 1 T 3 H's 2 T's 2 H's 3 T's 1 H 4 T's 5 T's

still working on it my colleagues done a weird pascal triangle table thing

the other colleague matt says its 7 chances out of 64

steve is still working on it

ok star here is the formula my colleagues have sorted i hope this helps cos i am stumped i get it but only a little

To work out the number of permutations of Y heads out of N coins you use the formula:

N! / (Y! x (N-Y)!)

This gives 28 where N is 8 and Y is 6.

So, there are 28 permutations of 8 coins with 6 heads.

Now, with each coin there are 2 possible results (heads or tails). As there are 8 coins, the number of potential combinations is 2^8 which is 256.

So, we have a probability of 28/256, which cancels down to 7/64.

i hope this helps star i really do
