Friends, I was starting to feel bored with scene 3 where KaamDev Pujari meets Radhika's family as it involved a lot of characters including Abhay and needed more funny scenes. So, for now I skipped to scene 4 (backstory of KaamDev Pujari). This tells why Vaishali and Radhika sees resemblance to Dev in KaamDev Pujari.
Scene 4 ' Back-story of KaamDev Pujari
Vaishali is having a restless afternoon sleep and some vague dreams are floating through her mind. Vaishali has also forgotten few things, but her memory gain would be in parallel to Dev's memory gain. So, she will not remember the details after she wakes up.
Vaishali (28+5 = 33 years ago) is in the Safdarjung Hospital (Delhi) as she is having labor pains. Nobody is with her as Dadi is in the Medical Institute (another Delhi Hospital) with Dadaji who is fighting for his life and Purohit Sr. is at one of the Muth with the bigot Mahant fighting for his title (his father just transferred it right before he went into coma, but chachoo's father is claiming it).
So, only psycho nurse is present in the hospital with Vaishali. Just then, psycho nurse receives a phone call and rushes to Vaishali.
Psycho nurse (Shantanu's mother) ' Vaishaliji, I have some bad news. Your MIL just called and unfortunately, you father in law couldn't be saved. He is dead and now she is making arrangements for his funeral. Your cousin BIL (chachoo) has taken over the PF mansion. So, the body can't be taken to the house too. There are plans to take it directly to the funeral home for antim sanskar. Your husband is rushing back to Medical Institute.
Vaishali (moaning): I knew this would happen as soon as this kulvinashak kid is ready to come to this world. Oh, why didn't I totally believe that Rishi who cursed me. I could have easily aborted this child at that time. India is not like US and people here don't demonstrate if you go to an abortion clinic. Also, they don't call you "Baby Killer" and Indian govt. actually encourages people not to have too many kids. I too was planning to just have two sons - an heir and a spare. Unfortunately, the spare one turned out to be kulvinashak. So, I have to have another spare that would be hopefully lucky.
Psycho Nurse (who already has heard the story and has been planning for sometime): Vaishaliji, I have thought of a plan. Why don't you give me your kulvinashak son and I would find some dead newborn body and tell everyone that your second child died?
Vaishali : Are you sure that you would do this for me? How can I thank you?
Pschyo Nurse (thinking): Oh, Vaishali you just wait. What you don't know is that I am a daughter of a pandit and had met Purohit Sr. in one of the muths and fallen for him mainly because of his wealth and title. But, he was a smart guy like your MIL and rejected me and married you ' the dumb one. So, the time has come for me to take revenge from you both and also to have your wealth in few years.
(Audience: Psycho nurse already has a two month old baby son named Shantanu. Her husband ran away after a year of marriage with her as he couldn't take her evilness. She is planning to pass this son as Vaishali's son in few years).
Kanha is looking at the proceedings down with concern. He is not chunnu munnu's Kanha, but more like the proper Kanha. Now, PF has always worshipped him, so he was planning to bring some happiness to their lives after all their recent setbacks. He thought he would do it as soon as the second son is born. But, now thanks to superstitious Vaishali, everything is going wrong.
Kanha (to himself): Vaishali's husband is smart and so is her MIL. But, this Vaishali even though obedient and nice is just sometimes so dumb. I have to do something. Now, with this child I can't do much as I have given Kamdev his responsibility. But, Kamdev is always lost in his own world. So, I need to do some maaya.
Also, I will give Vaishali a third son who would be blessed by me. Radha is again mad at me. So, I can do couple of things for the third son. I can put one marriage in his kundli and also give him my biggest devotee in future ' Radhika. Also, I would make sure that Vaishali doesn't choose the bride else she would make a mess of it with her horoscopes and such. So, I would let the third son be strong enough to choose his own bride.
But, I need to do something right now, otherwise the psycho nurse would take the baby and kill him. Let me scan the earth (especially Delhi) and think of a plan. Got it!!!
Vaishali is still moaning and having pains. It is an amavasya night (no moon). Suddenly, the storm starts brewing, Vaishali room becomes dark (hospital workers still see the light in the room and are not bothered), psycho nurse falls asleep and Vaishali just gives birth to a son by herself. She is now afraid of what to do as there is nobody around her. Suddenly, she gets a prodding from Kanha and she is now like a zombie and a robot and is just following some unknown instructions. She gets up from the bed (her pains etc are all gone), wraps up the baby in his new clothes and puts him in a basket (borrowed from the hospital) and starts walking towards Yamuna.
She reaches Yamuna and decides to do what Kunti did to Karn. But, suddenly somebody calls her. She looks up and sees an older guy close to her father's age. He is Shastri Sr. (BrijMohan's father and Amma's husband). He has come there to do some reflection on his life.
Shastri Sr.: Beti, what are you doing with a newborn at this time?
Vaishali: This is my kulvinashak son and I am trying to be a Devi to save my kul. So, I have decided to act as Kunti and give him up.
Shastri Sr. : Beti, don't think of these superstitions. You should keep the baby.
Vaishali: Baba, I cannot take that risk. I have to do this for my family. It is not my desire, but my greatness that is leading me to do this.
Shastri Sr. : Beti, ok. If you have made up your mind. I don't have your horoscope or this baby's horoscope, but I can make a prashan kundli in an instant by looking at the lines on your face and kid's face. This son would prove to be useful to you at your lowest time and help your family retain their respect. But, it is ok if you give him up now. I know of a Brahmin family whose son got married few years ago , but can't have kids. I will give this child to that family.
Vaishali: Baba, It is really nice of you. But, why don't you take this child and bring it up yourself.
Shastri Sr.: Beti, the thing is that my wife is total witch and something that rhymes with witch. People call her Amma. She has made my life hell even since I married her. She dotes on our only son Brij and he in return cannot see any faults in her even though he is extremely nice. I even took retirement and Brij took over my duties at a temple. But, now my life is even worse as Brij hasn't yet married and is in the temple almost all day. As a result, Amma tortures me even more. So, I can't take this child home.
Shastri Sr.: I know a family who are also Brahmins and are respected highly in Vrindavan. I will give the child to them. Unfortunately, I have left home making it seem as if I committed suicide. But, I am going to Gangotri to live in peace for the rest of my life. So, I can't take the baby to Vrindavan. Let me think of something.
Ok, at this point Kanha gives a push to Shastri Sr.'s brain. He makes a small dingy of leaves and sticks and puts the basket in it and writes a letter for Mr. Pujari and leaves it in Yamuna. Now, by Kanha's leela the dingy reaches Yamuna in Vrindavan just when Mr. Pujari comes to the ghat. He sees the dingy, takes it out, sees the baby and reads Shastri Sr. letter in which he explained about his being alive and going to Gangotri as well as keeping the baby. Mr. Pujari brings the baby home and shows to Mrs. Pujari who is ecstatic to see this beautiful baby boy. They decide to call him KaamDev Pujari and live happily with him. Kaam is a pampered child (same as Dev) where all wishes are fulfilled and the Pujari world revolves around him. The only difference is that Dev is brought up in a lap of luxury (Kanha's blessing of unlimited fortune) whereas Kaam is poor (but he doesn't care as he is a happy child). He only decides to get rich when he falls for Radhika. Like Dev, he wants to give Radhika all the comforts in the world.
Meanwhile Vaishali goes back to the hospital, falls asleep and forgets everything. Also, the psycho nurse wakes up and see that Vaishali has delivered the baby and it is missing. She is happy as she has one less work to do (that of killing the baby). She wakes up Vaishali and tells her that she took the baby and in future, if a grown up guy shows up with my photo, then it would be that son (PF is really nave and they take everything at face value). Vaishali is happy and is convinced about her decision when she starts getting the good news about her husband getting back the title and the PF getting all the wealth and houses back.
