Vaishali from the beginning has put forth 'the happiness of the family' to the forefront and disregarded personal happiness.
When Dev tells her about his dream girl and when he discloses that he is in love with the DG not with his wife she slaps him and said that he should not talk about it anymore and should think about the family's honour, happiness etc.

When the stage is set for Dev to marry Radhika she refuses to give her blessings to the relationship. Even though she pretty well knows that her son's happiness lies in Radhika and even though she loves Dev a lot, she puts forth what is written in Dev's horoscope as an evidence to go against the marriage.

Again after giving her consent half-heartedly to the marriage she keeps worrying about Dev's kids who are yet to be born.

In her logic, though Dev would be the happiest in the world by marrying Radhika, she thinks that it would be a shame on her family.

Thus going according to her logic and her nature, it is possible for her to abandon her child just because 'the family happiness' was more important for her than her own child. Though what she did is completely wrong, being 'Vaishali' she did so. Just as Radhika hid her first marriage truth to save her adopted family, Vaishali has hidden this truth to save her husband's family, because the new born was said to be a destroyer of the family.

Anyway, in my opinion it was a logical way to find a connection between Shanthanu and the Purohiths rather than trying to bring him in as an illegal child of Sr RajPurohith or Vaishali as that would raise a question about their characters. And that would have a bad reflection on Dev and his children as well.

As the precap shows Dev trying to leave the house, I think Radhika will have to do a lot of pacifying and will have to play it hard to make Dev understand that he is needed in the house to save the Purohiths from evil. And in the mean time if Shanthanu develops a soft corner for Radhika it would be interesting to watch how Dev would react as he is over possessive about his wife.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this..........

Nice post. I kinda agree with you. It didn't suprise me that she gave up her child. Especially if you look at her character and what she has done in the past. She agreed with Amma plan to switch the bride at Radhika wedding.
Still it must be very difficult decision to gave up your child. She always think about the family pride ect. The actress how plays Vaishalli was very good today.

"Jo - Jo Jab Hona hai, to to tab tab hona hai "

"Hum Bhavisya nahi badal sakte "
These proverbs says all about Vaishali's abandoning decision as wrong.
Raavan's mother asked for the boon of child from the saint, who was her husband, at the dusk time (this time is not considered as auspicious by Hindus). The saint said that u have asked for a wonderful gift but at the wrong time and so all ur kids will be born of Rakshasa only, Ur first son will become the king of all devils. His mother was scared and asked for some relief and so he said that all ur child will be devils except the last one who will preach religious things and after ur first son finishes the whole family due to a saints woman, the last son of ur's will carry the legacy.
Ravaan's mother brought up her kids in the Ashram and taught them good things, there was another son of Rishi who was the King of Lanka and he used to visit his father often. One day he came in SwarnaRath which made Raavan yearn for that Ratha. To get that Ratha he killed his brother and became the KING OF LANKA and later on how and why was he and his whole family was killed, its all known to us.
Similar is the story of Kansha also. He captured his own beloved sister and BIL as their 8th son was his destroyer. He killed all their children mercilessly but still when Krishna, the 8th child was born he escaped and later on came back and killed Kansha.
So u see the curse never goes away. It does haunt u
Vaishali abandoned her child when he was given birth for the sake of the family, but see now he is back, though he never saw anyone, Mrinalini contacted him, the nurse told him the whole story and now he is back to take the revenge and destroy his own family. Even though she tried avoiding the curse, its back on her.

Good post, radev_forever. You have described Vaishali quite well. She indeed seems to be a woman steeped in superstition and likely has a huge complex. Anyone who visits an astrologer and has janam kundalis made and believes in them so strongly would also know that astrological flaws have remedies. Was Vaishali so selfish and fearful that she did not want to attempt any remedy to nullify the negative astrological forecast for her child? Was there some majboori she was facing that prevented her from finding an alternative to giving away her child? I guess we still have to hear more of Vaishali's secret because in today's precap she was saying to Radhika that bad things started happening to the family before Shantanu was even born. So we will have to wait and hear what those bad things were and what else Vaishali is going to tell Radhika.
