My next VM is based on a gazal by Jagjit Singh. It is "Koi Fariyaad" from the movie "Tum Bin". It is a long gazal (about 9 minutes). I thought of Dev of first few months of CB when I decided to make this VM as it suited him. Also I ended up watching few scenes of first 80 or so episodes I had not really watched before. There was a difference in quality of CB1 as it was shown in first few months. There were details given to characters that were not shown later on. Also I wondered why was the need to show that burning track. Amma was shown pretty much an evil woman even in the first few months as she was shown to be this ritualistic woman who had no remorse in committing any wrongs to achieve her goals.
I have titled this song as "An Entreaty", a literal translation of "Koi Fariyaad". There is one poem by Edith Nesbit that I liked. But it applies to Radhika rather than to Dev whereas the VM is mostly from Dev's perspective.
Entreaty (By Edith Nesbit)
O LOVE, let us part now!
Ours is the tremulous, low-spoken vow,
Ours is the spell of meeting hands and eyes.
The first, involuntary, sacred kiss
Still on our lips in benediction lies.
O Love, be wise!
Love at its best is worth no more than this--
Let us part now!
O Love, let us part now!
Ere yet the roses wither on my brow,
Ere yet the lilies wither in your breast,
Ere the implacable hour shall flower to bear
The seeds of deathless anguish and unrest.
To part is best.
Between us still the drawn sword flameth fair--
Let us part now!
Following is the VM "An Entreaty".
