Kartavya and dharma ---Part I
Are they two sides of the same coin or are they different?
Kartavya is one's duty towards those who depend on you and Dharma is to uphold it… Individuals have different dharmas at different times in their lives.
These words are used in this story many times and in reference to different members...
Part 1: Discuss Dadaji in this context
Dadaji's kartavya was to do right by Hari, guide him in the right direction, to do right by Chayya and Padma, to do right by Dev and his mother, to do right by Radhika, and to do right by the values of RPship…..He failed in all this. He was not able to uphold any of the values….as a father, father-in-law, grandfather etc….He did adharma ….
Neither were his actions justified by any reason, nor was he forced or compelled to do so under some difficult circumstances... So why did he do what he did? And what is his punishment? Was his illness of 12 years an adequate justice?... But what is his punishment for things he did (trying to separate Dev and Radhika) after he got better?
...I would really like to see that Dev realizes Dadaji's true colors and no longer holds him on a pedestal….
