When did destruction of Dev start?

Yesterday I was thinking that whether this destruction of Devs characterization is a new thing. I mean most of us have realized seeing yesterdays episode that whatever excuses the creatives give regarding Dev putting sindoor on Barkha's head it was his destruction ...but is this new?...Actually no. This started not now, not in CB2 but actually in CB1. I am not comparing between the two shows...nor am I comparing the characterizations...just talking about destruction of Dev seprately and independent of each other in both the shows.

The seeds of Dev's destruction as a character were seeded after the second wedding of Radhika and Dev (where Radhika gets burned) in CB1. Inorder to destroy Dev they first made Vishaka and amma all black powerful characters and dumbed everyone down. The one night stand proposed between Vishaka and Dev was the first attempt on destruction of Dev. That could not be carried out due to the immense pressure by audience on the channel and at that time they had to take back their decision. Then they thought that if we cannot destroy Dev like that why we don't kill him off? They did it but then again due to audience pressure had to bring back Dev as Abhay, and not Abhay as a separate independent character...but the way Abhay was handled Dev was slowly destroyed. This time they decided to introduce the two wives track to further bring him down and hence Kanika was introduced (which they had initially planned with Vishaka). But again they had to take back their idea because the audience rose in arms and CB1 was hugely popular so they could not risk it. Then they thought that if the audience will not accept any other actress against Dev then why not use Rubina ...and my hunch is that Imarti was introduced for that reason. If one looks at the characterization of Imarti and barkha...there are similarities...both are jealous of Radhika, both are cute and funny when introduced...both can resort to wrong means to get something...both like money...both think that Radhika is too perfect. But by that time decision had been taken to close CB1. From Radhika and Dev's second wedding if one sees how the characterization of the these two leads changed, one can see that Radhika was slowly resurrected but Dev was destroyed...by the time Kanika and Mataramji left Dev was nothing compared to Dev of 2009. Actually the condition of Dev was quite similar to what is now.

In CB2 I am not saying that Dev was destroyed as a continuation of what his character was in CB1 but Dev as a separate and different character in CB2 was destroyed from the very beginning, infact just after the 12 year leap.. Dev was introduced as an orphan but he was never given scope to say his viewpoint...he was never given any dialogues...then from July 24^th ME everything was twisted to fit into this two wives scenario...and Devs destruction was continued...Barkha was made all powerful...and again similar to CB1, Radhika was resurrected towards the end (she was before her death)...but Dev was murdered...and today Barkha is all powerful, resurrection of dai has happened and Dev? How much more will he be destroyed?. So what they had planned in CB1 by maybe bringing back Vishaka (put on hold due to audience hatred for the character)...then Kanikaa and Imarti, is finally being done now.

PS- I am talking of the character here and not the actor and his projection of the character. Avinash is doing a brilliant job regarding projection of Dev's emotions and feelings...to me Dev the character is being detroyed because he made to do stuff by the cvs that is clashing with the main essence of the story and his characterisation.

misti but the mystery remains --- Y ?? Y the CV's decided to kill this character and that too so badly, this was the character which was loved by ppl the most and many of the viewers tuned to CB 1 everyday just to watch him, so then y the CV's r so hell bent upon killing HIM ??

Very well written Misti ...I was waiting for your comments wanted to know your thoughts about yesterday,s show also ...What kind of family is this , Radhika is gayab from last two days , are not worried about her ,,Here this Barkha is gone for sometime , all are in tears about her ...Why did not Dev said he was looking for Radhika ...All the logic has gone in to thin air when it comes to Dev ..And Barkha,s all dialogues are with logic except the last one ...She must be patting her back as she made fool of everyone and has become the apple of their eye ..They have totally killed his character all his presence of mind , intelligence has disappeared , he is shown to be puppet ...You have analyzed the ruining of Dev,s character very aptly ..

Its strange that the channel / makers are destroying a much loved character. Usually the makers and channel see to it, that the characters are preserved so that they remain the audience puller always.

Here the makers / channel seem to be having some problems with the actor and thus his character is being destroyed like this.

When i read your comments about some problem with the actors , i had written the same when CB1 was closed ...Something is wrong somewhere , nobody ruins the characterization of their main leads ...I remember Deeya,s interview , where she was surprisingly said that she did not know about their popularity ...What kind of PH who does not know about their actors , who just worked with you ...

The only answer which comes to my mind is that they do have some prob with AVI, but what is that, is something which is not being understood by me..

Maybe its a bit of both...the character and actor...
