Misti ... very well written and absolutely true ... loved reading other's responses here
All of the scenarios where they tried to bring in a third spoke in the wheel and failed bcos of audience pressure are true ... also since the ONS track in CB1 they have kept Dev subdued. In CB2, they have been careful ... there have been very brief periods when they have presented his point of view but especially since the revelation of the truth abt him being the future RP, they have given him few dialogues to explain his point of view
- it could be that both the character of Dev and Avi are so well loved that they feel that it needs to be tempered .. maybe someone does not like all the attention paid to the lead or basically does not think that the male lead is a major part of the show
- the creatives generally write strong women oriented roles ... whether it be the main protagonist or the main villains, they are usually women ... men are sidelined and do not have much to do in many of these shows
- having a strong character like dev and a very strong actor like avinash playing it makes it hard for these creatives who think narrowly and who like their various twists to be centered around endless hours of women suffering ... a majority of the suffering is bcos the man in their life is either callous, a jerk or totally dumb
- to have a strong character like dev and balance it out with rads and show them being basically good people who make mistakes, are united and stand together when it comes to major things but have their fights and misunderstandings which people exploit ... seems to be very hard to do for creatives
- this is my personal bias and theory bcos i love avinash's acting .. i think given the right screen play and dialogues, he can easily out shadow anyone he acts with ... and that may be another reason they downplay him
- for barkha to appear strong, dev has to be severely weakened bcos barkha is not a strong villain... they weakened rads too for some time but brought her back in a big way
As far as the current track goes, my main problem is that they are unnecessarily killing dev's character when they dont need to ... they can still show him strong and smart but show that both rads and he are victims of lies spread by barkha ... why show him unconcerned when rads is missing ; why show that rads put some doubts in his mind and then show him so totally dumb later on that he does not even consider them ... if the goal was to have dev believe that barkha is good, why have rads put so many doubts in his mind and then make him appear stupid and callous at the same time .. also why use only RP duty and duty towards barkha to make him do whatever the creatives want ... it does not go with his basic characterization
I think these creatives have given dev from cb2 a raw deal from the get go by not giving the character the space and time to explain his point of view ... and making him appear illogical and callous at the same time ... Avinash has done a brilliant job in expressing his feelings and made up for the lack of missing dialogues
Misti ... let's see what they do ... it is sad that the creatives are not making dev bring in the audience ... he really could if they give him a chance
