A few more thoughts
you have pointed out a very interesting pattern of how the way the other woman has been artificially inserted into dev's life has been done systematically but each time they have gone one step further

- with vish it was ons but dev rejected her even before rads called him back
- with kanika they brought in a child and thought they could pass it off as his ... they also had the whole amnesia thing - but they somehow seem to want to bring a child in the mix between these two
- with imerti as you pointed out, they would have tried something and since it was rubina in that role they thought the audience would go for it
- now with barkha ... dont know how far they will go ... but they tried really hard to make us like her by dumbing down both dev and rads ... the rp ceremony where dev declares barkha as the rp was truly the pits where they made both rads and dev look like they were using barkha for their own selfish gains

In cb1 when they showed dev dead, they could have brought him back as someone who came to avenge shantanu ... though their ratings were ultimately good, they lost to Star Plus which solidified its lead ... a strong dev could have ensured that they stayed on top

i think zee is stuck in the period when they were on top and all shows were about 2 or 3 women and 1 man with the man being extremely weak ... kasam se etc all of these had this theme

As you pointed out, dumbing down Dev is one thing but dumbing him down to the extent where he will lead a married life with barkha even if it is for a day will kill the essence of the entire show ... this is a divine love story about soul mates ... i can see this happening in other stories that may be more practical and more grounded in day to day life... but this is supposed to be a fantasy and a marriage that has kanha's blessings ... showing such things in a show like this totally kills whatever the show is about - forget about dev's character

I think a core group of us will watch the show for Avinash and Rubina ... but some of us also like the characters and the central theme of the show - when they destroy them beyond recognition, it is really sad

Credit does go to the actor because he or she is the person who breathes life into the character. What you have said is true the more they are destrying Dev the more protective the audience is becoming regarding Avinash.

rajsri, if ZEE is staying in that period then they should wake up and see the serials in other channels, though still there is female dominance but now even men's r having their say in it. Viewers like the serials where the husband and wife relations r shown strongly not only in passion but also in solving family problems. That's why we have many serials such as YRKKH, MLKT, SBS, BV, Pratigya etc being liked by ppl so much, as although its the main female who solves thing but her husband is also involved in it to a lot extent.
