To the new creatives,
I have been thinking of writing something for the new creative team that started their work about 10 days back. When the new creative director joined the show Dev and Radhika were on the run to save Dev's life. I was pleasantly surprised when we were shown Dev's feelings of guilt for being responsible for Radhikas problems and for her sticking to him. The scene showing Dev feeding water to Radhika and then washing her feet and then telling Radhika that because of him she is in this problem was very poignant and romantic in a very subtle way. Radhika understood his insecurity and his guilt and reassured him in her own way. The next day when Radhika was dejected when not believed by her father. True to Radhikas nature she did not shout or cry but looked completely lost, because she has lost the main support of her life, the one person who has been with her through all trials and tribulations, her father. She was standing in the broken down cottage with a little girl look and this time it was Dev who became her support. He actually became the adult in this relationship and spoke to Radhika as one will reassure a little girl and told her that to give her father some time, that once he realized his mistake, he will be back and also told her to have faith in God. You all must be wondering why I am repeating scenes that have been shown more than a week back. The reason is after a long time I saw emotional closure. Both these characters were hurt by people whom they have trusted all their lives, both have broken down in their own way and in both the cases the other stood up and became the support. Even Mansaram turning his back was also shown realistically as the reaction of an emotional father who has been hoodwinked by a far more cleverer character of Rohan and although he in his anger he rejected Radhika, yet in his own way he is also protecting her.
Although both of them were being chased by Rohan and Virat, the episodes were not just about the chase, it also had romance which was of the soft and soothing kind. The chase was also used to show some character traits of Rohan that Dev was not aware of. For example, Dev never knew that Rohan is capable of brutal violence and he was dumb struck watching the level of violence when Rohan was beating up an innocent guy. It was Radhika who dragged him away from there. Both ran to save their lives and jumped on a moving bus where the audience could feel the tension that the characters are going through and when at the end Radhika managed to jump on the bus, I as a viewer heaved a sigh of relief and then started smiling seeing both Radhika and Dev at peace with each other. After saving the little girl they were given shelter in the family's house where again the lead characters came more closer to each other, got to know each other and the audience was treated to their subtle romance depicted very well by them enjoying each other's company, sharing their dreams, while the drama was carried on by Rohan in the Purohit Mansion. When Dev and Radhika were betrayed by the parents of the little girl we all were left fuming and were pleasantly surprised when the next day it was shown that it was the little girl whom Dev saved who not only returned the favour and saved Dev and Radhika but also made her parent's realize the error of their ways. Frankly I was impressed by the creatives using the daughter to teach a lesson to the parents. After that even the fight sequence also had emotional closure included in it in the form of a confrontation between Dev and Rohan where the last links between them were broken. Dev came back to take back Radhika and they landed up in the medical camp where Radhikas old friend Barkha who is a physiotherapist saved them and gave them shelter.
In this week we have been shown the further development of a close bond between Dev and Radhika, their emotional bonding with each, sharing their hopes and dreams and also their worries. With the help of Barkha they managed to reach out to daima and started on their plans to rescue dadaji. When we were shown that Barkha will be going to stay in the Purohit Bhavan, I thought that she might be going in as daima's relative and had questions in my mind that what if people related to her field recognize her...what if the police inspector who was send on a wild goose chase by her recognize her The next day again got pleasantly surprised when I realized that she coming in as physiotherapist (which she is) but one who is least interested in her work and is only after leading a happy and easy life. That answered my questions and doubts that if she comes in as lazy physiotherapist then even if her colleagues and the other doctors recognize her, it won't matter and even if the police inspector recognize her that will also not matter because that can be blamed on her scatter brain. Meanwhile in the purohit mansion, the family members had advertised in the newspaper that Dev has stolen some jewels and had run away and that was shown to back fire because the muth protested (very good work by the creatives). Since Dev has been closely linked with the muth the muths name was being harmed and as a result logically badi bahu was forced to withdraw her statement in the newspaper.
The characters in the Purohit family have also been used by the creatives to carry the story forward logically where the nature of the characters were used to provide all the twists and turns, whether it being badi bahu and her ego...Virat and his ego...Mohini and her tendency to say the right thing which results in badi bahu reacting and causing her own downfall, Padma and her insecurity. All the characters had their part to play in the logical progression of the plot. Rohan was also used to show that he is the one with the brains in this family and the one who is questioning and plotting. I was also very happy by the way the creatives used flashbacks to retell the story after the introduction of Barkha in the plot so that any new audience who have started to watch will get an idea of the story.
You all might be thinking why am I describing whatever has happened in the last few weeks. This is because I just wanted to highlight that after a long time there has been a logical flow to the story which was lacking before. We are also getting emotional closures and the characters are also projecting their emotions to the audience. It is emotions that hooks the audience to the characters. Barkha is a very good example of that until now. She is positive, helpful and a very good friend...she is someone whom most of us know ...either we know someone like her in our immediate circle or we see shades of us in her. So her story is something that the audience can relate to. The central characters of Radhika and Dev have now evolved a lot in the past 10 days or so. By projecting their feeling and emotions to the audience we are able to feel their pain, their pleasure, their joy from the smallest things in their life, their insecurities, their fear and their helplessness. Usually the questions asked by the audience are answered in the next couple of days in the episode itself and in this week humour has crept in the episodes, whether it being gentle humour in the relationship between Dev and Radhika...or Radika and Barkhs or situational comedy sort of humour in the Purohit Bhavan. So now the episodes have something for everyone...whether being drama, humour or romance and they are balanced with each other and do not over power each other. The parallel tracks are more or less well linked up and if there are loopholes they are usually solved and cleared in the next few episodes. Even small things such as Dev's wound healing up slowly has been maintained. This new creative teams hard work in presenting a cohesive story in the past few days have been supported by very good acting by the leads and the supporting characters.
I know the TRPS are low now. This new team needs time to slowly build up logical and fresh tracks. The team needs time to present their imagination to the audience and by imaginations I mean fresh ideas, fresh plots that have not been seen by the CB audience before. We all want to see a new story as CB2. I sincerely hope that the channel will give the new creative team the scope to present their ideas in their way...the channel will support them, the PH will be by their side. The show also needs promotions, not negative ones that show Dev and Radhika being separated but positive ones, intriguing ones that make the audience wait for the episodes. I know everything cannot be rosy and good in Dev and Radhikas life...so long they are together, are facing their problems together, being each other's support and strength, I as a viewer will be happy. So long a good balance is maintained and the evil do not become too overpowering. Whatever I have seen in the past 14 days or so, this new creative team has been good, all they need is some time and some patience on the part of the channel. Can we as CB audience hope for that from the channel and the production house?
Before I finish my long post (which I am hoping have not driven the readers to sleep😳), a thank you from me to the new creative team, the cast and the crew. I know that in my writing a shout a lot, but that is mainly because I care and I want the entire team to do good work.
