SEEMS LIKE IN INDIA MEDIOCRE WORK IS ACCEPTABLE.
IF ONE IS NOT PASSIONATE ABOUT THEIR WORK, WHAT IS THE CALIBER OF THEIR WORK??????????????

It does not pay you to be too passionate about your work on television

Says screenplay writer Sonal Ganatra who is an independent woman in her own right and has made it big as a writer in the Television industry.

A screen play writer is a person who pens down his or her imagination and based on this we get to see serials, dramas and films. The writer is the person who takes care of the audience's entertainment. On this Independence day we got in touch with the independent and talented lady Sonal Ganatra who pens downs scripts for shows.

The talented screenplay writer has managed to grab the eye balls of the audience with her interesting episodes for many television shows such as the sit-com show Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai, , Ek Packet Umeed, Sukh By Chance, Saas Bina Sasural and Na Bole Tum Season 1 and Season 2. The writer is no longer associated with the show Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha Sesaon 2 after the show was revamped. Currently she is writing the daily soap Chhanchhan on Sony TV.

When asked Sonal about her love for writing which started at a very young age, she says "At the age of 14 my poem got published in Times Of India newspaper. I wrote a comic poem on my school teacher. As I belong from a family of publishers, reading inspired me to get into writing. At the age of 19, I wrote a novel named ' 'Partitioned Hearts'."

Sonal started as a reporter, "I was a reporter for 8 long years. I was a political reporter for my newspaper 'Aarti'. It was a regional newspaper."

When asked how did she land in Mumbai, the 'City of dreams' all the way from Rajkot, she says "I came down to Mumbai in 2004 and started with screenplay writing. I was an associate writer for Hats Off Productions show Sarabhai v/s Sarabhai and then the journey is still heading further."

Sonal has faced many ups and downs throughout her journey, "Yes, I have faced lot of ups and downs during my journey. There came a point when I thought that this field is not meant for me. I was getting a lot of offers but I did not want to take them up as they were typical Saas-Bahu shows. But then later I got many offers of my interest."

So what lesson has Sonal learnt, "It does not pay you to be too passionate about your work on television... that is the lesson that I have learnt. Just be professional, give your best to the team and the project that you are working for and do not expect anything more than your remuneration."

It was not always easy going for Sonal who had to face lots of difficulties in the initial days, "When I came to Mumbai it was really difficult to buy an apartment of my own and a car that I have now. That was the struggling period that I remember. Nothing comes to you easily, you just have to make it easy. But by being independent you tend to realize the responsibility and one should use independence very wisely."

Sonal talks about how she celebrates Independence day now, "Independence day was celebrated during my school and college days and then as a reporter I used to attend flag hoisting ceremonies write reports about the same. But after coming to Mumbai and getting into the entertainment field I only celebrate Independence Day by putting a flag in my car and watching the Independence Day ceremony on news channels."

"But yes, we should all celebrate the spirit of Independence."

I am not sure how I feel about this since it is a TellyBuzz article. I think they do their own twists on the words that may/may not have come from the person of interest.
Overall my impression is that Sonal is trying to say that a writer for TV should not get too "passionate" since TV scripts change at the whim of TRP audience. The writer is expected to change their own take on how the story should progress and we have experienced this...haven't we. The viewers demands have to be met to maintain TRPs if the PH and network want the show to continue...else it is bye bye and we know this too...don't we. 😊

Yeah, but if writers always change their stories due to TRPs then there is no integrity in their work, nah? That means they will never achieve excellence.

CVS should have ignore the bashers and show what they want to show TRP was easily climbing up slowing on the weeks full of ChanMan and the current TRP tells the story as well.

Agree. Writer's need to stay their own true course. After all, you can't please all the people all the time!

True.
This is a complaint TV writers have. One of the writers of the previous show had mentioned how difficult it becomes when they have to start writing per viewer demand. Just my opinion, I by no means follow Indian TV...just two shows. This is the reason for not getting too passionate about TV writing.
I am hoping talented writers write other works to satisfy their true passion.

So, this goes to show that when they changed the story to have more ChanMan the show gained more TRPs when the intended story is not about the romance.

I agree even I was surprise but it's the truth TRP only goes up when they're ChanMan scenes CVS fails to show the Saas Bahu chemistry which was confusing for viewers when the Saas keep changing shades all of a sudden.
