I 'll just keep this brief...
TV writers cannot get too passionate because they have to steer away from initial concept to accommodate viewer ratings for show survival. I believe the makers were not going to change the story to an extent where it compromised the initial concept. They had to make some modifications to accommodate show ending...the biggest change was to Umaben character.

True.
This is a complaint TV writers have. One of the writers of the previous show had mentioned how difficult it becomes when they have to start writing per viewer demand. Just my opinion, I by no means follow Indian TV...just two shows. This is the reason for not getting too passionate about TV writing.
I am hoping talented writers write other works to satisfy their true passion.

You are absolutely correct. The pressures must be awful! I have no idea about Indian TV writers, and I am not familiar with any of them. Like you, I have had no exposure to Indian TV. Only, Chhan Chhan, and Sanaya's previous show. And that was a real fiasco...

At some point it's only trp that matters and u have to change ur writing and story a/c to the audience interest:(

And that's being mediocre. And so what is the caliber of work that is produced?
Of course, I understand, that if shows want to survive they need to cater to the demand. But at some point, the writers have to ask themselves what is more important. They have to stop at some point. Otherwise, the writing will be all over the place. Because who would they listen to?
But yeah, I guess, if it's just the salary one wants, then any thing goes. And so does the creativity, and thus, meritocracy, outta the window!

So, this goes to show that when they changed the story to have more ChanMan the show gained more TRPs when the intended story is not about the romance.

The intended story was not one of romance. But they had to show Chhan Chhan's entry and subsequent positioning in the B-Household. I think that was the reason of the ChanMan scenes. I didn't feel that they catered to the demands of the viewers of romance at all. The scenes were just not enough to satisfy the romantics! At least, I didn't feel there was enough. The ChanMan scenes were never enacted full on, as, if it had been a romantic expose.

In my opinion, that was the greatest mistake they made! If they had stayed true to course, and showed the great clash, in spite of the romance, the show would have shot off! The great clash that was promised and that everyone was waiting for never exploded, it just fizzled out!

Tfs

I don't watch any Indian TV or anything. The only reason I watched Chhan Chhan was because of Sanaya. Here is one phenomenal actor of International caliber.

By changing UB's character, the whole concept of the show changed. Because the USB of the show was the bigotry of the MIL. When they changed that, it became a different show!
