Sanaya Irani's show to face the axe?
Buzz is that it might be replaced by a new show with a political backdrop
After her hit show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon (IPKKND), popular actor Sanaya Irani was signed as the lead for Chhan Chhan, which rode on her popularity. Now, only five months since it went on air, it is likely to be replaced by another show in mid-September, according to a source.
An insider says, "The new show will have a political backdrop. It is produced by Rashmi Sharma and will focus on the theme of a woman running a country. A newcomer will be roped in for the lead role; the casting is currently on."
The promos of the new show will be on air soon. The source adds, "Anamika is another show that is going to end soon, but in all likelihood, the channel will axe Chhan Chhan."
Produced by Vipul D Shah and Sanjiv Sharma, the serial was apparently inspired by Rekha's film Khoobsurat (1980). Apparently, there has been immense pressure on the show's team to recreate the magic of Barun SobtiSanaya chemistry (from her earlier show, IPKKND). Newcomer Farhan Khan, who was cast opposite Sanaya was unable to connect with the audience, which is why he was replaced by Anuj Sachdeva.
Ask Shah if the show's going off air and he says, "not at all."
