Just catching up with the discussions ... so much to discuss in last night's episode! The confrontation was fan- freaking - tastic!!! Hats off to the cvs, and to Sanaya and Supriya ... we will probably see the continuation today ... Chhanchhan's rebuttal to Umaben's arguments and a new challenge ... this time with both opponents facing each other fair and square with gloves off.
Chhanchha's argument was that however deeply entenched the roots of a tree may be, it still needs to reach upwards towards fresh air.
The rebuttal - the stronger the roots, the higher a tree can reach into the sky ... the firmer the foundation, the higher the building ...
The rebuttal to that - heights are still the ultimate aspiration and goal ... one needs to reach upwards, and move forward ... roots anchor you to the ground, while you aim to reach for the sky ...
So both are necessary ... hopefully they will bring this out.
It was interesting that Umaben's ideologies are actually breaking the family apart ... she said she is following her MIL's ideologies ... but they don't seem to have been successful as Babuji and his brother split up due to money ... here, Manthan is unhappy about his position in the business, and Mukut is unhappy in his marriage ... the cost of keeping the family together comes at the dissatisfaction of individuals ...
Dowry ... in the olden days, dowry was given as "streedhan" - it belonged completely and absolutely to the girl, and not to her in-laws family ... it was given in lieu of inheritance, because daughters could not inherit property or other family assets .. hence they were given gold and jewelry as their share.
But in today's world, where the laws have changed, how is this relevant now? And as Chhanchhan pointed out, dowry might have saved Umaben's home, but it has caused the destruction of hundreds of other homes, because the method of extracting dowry has changed. When the roots of a tree grow rotten, the tree will crash to the ground.
