I am still reeling under the effect of the last scene and everything that happened before it is slipping out of my mind. First thing first, superb performance by Supriyaji and Sanaya 👏 and Team Chhanchhan delivered a truly maha episode 👏

Today the gloves are really off and finally we understand the rationale behind UB's actions...she knows what people think of her and her actions but she does not care...her family comes before society or what community thinks of her...the same community and society that did not come to her or her family's aid when they fell on hard times. I read case studies of people who even after coming of out severe hardship/ trauma, continue to have survival by any means as a life goal...even in good times the fear of losing everything never leaves them...UB falls in that category. For her keeping her family together and prosperous is her only motive and individual happiness is subsumed under this. Chhanchhan is a threat to something she not only holds dear, but is her life's mission. Chhanchhan brings to the fore her worst fears. UB knows Manav will get hurt but a smaller price to pay for the bigger cause. She does not want her sons to separate and have different lives and Chhanchhan to her would just lead to that.

Now UB's harshness to Ranjana and Sanjana and going little soft on Kaumudi makes even more sense, it is her way of meting out justice and leveling the playing field.

The creatives have once again brought us to the same questions-now what? Will UB challenge Chhanchhan or vice versa? With Mukut-Kaumudi problem brewing will these two women come together to save that marriage and keep the family intact? Will they start bonding and start taking tiny steps towards one another...learning from each other...developing mutual trust and respect as they both solve one problem after the other? Will Manav ever learn the truth?

Chhanchhan has effectively protected herself from the Sonali threat for now by telling the half truth to the family...any move on that front by UB will raise an alarm.

Was nice to see Dadaji openly supporting Chhanchhan and trying to understand her. It is a pleasure to see the happy and smiling Sarabhai family.

Sanaya was looking beautiful in the ghagra-choli and the hairstyle.

P.S. Copying and pasting: Just wanted to add that today through UB the creatives were speaking to all of us who were completely befuddled by UB's actions and motivations so far. It's like they were addressing all our comments on UB!

Wonderful analysis... yes... the creatives were speaking to all those asking for UB's back story and the reason that she is so black/grey/evil... her concern for her family subsumes everything and she is ready to attack anything that comes in the way of that...

Love the idea that they will face problems together... but I think they will start with solving issues their way and then reach middle ground ... possibly fostered by Kaumudi+Mukut issues. I also sense that there will be issues in Manasi's marriage... let's see front front and all that!

Great WU Ash, today we finally got what we've all been waiting for and what many were questioning, in that we finally got the show about a clash of ideologies that we'd been promised rather than just the evil egotistical MIL willing to hurt her own son for the sake of her ego. She had a solid reason for not wanting CC as a DIL and not just that CC had embarrassed her in public. Hat's off to Team CC for a superb episode.

Supriyaji as usual excelled and despite how I feel about UB's reasons she made me feel that to her they were justified. She needed to keep her family together and CC was a threat. I wonder if when Manthan left home it had been for a modern girl and she felt Manav might do the same for CC..When she said that she opened her door to CC so that the family wouldn't close the door on Manav we could understand that she really loves her son whereas until now it seemed as though she just wanted to have her way.
Sanaya, the expression Queen, was wonderful as usual but I'm still waiting for the day when she gets some in depth dialogues but perhaps that will happen now. My favorite dialogue is from the precap where CC says that no matter how deep the roots are they need fresh air to survive., which I think is the message of the show that new thinking doesn't mean the death of old traditions but adds a dimension which if implemented properly can enhance and improve those traditions... adaptation is key.
The cv's are definitely doing their part, now it's up to Sony to promote the show to bring in the audiences to watch the awesome job that Team CC is doing.

Absolutely agree Jaya... I too almost(😆) bought into UB's argument. She is shaped by the past , by her circumstances and experiences... and like CC said , every experience does not have to be the same and people could be different ... so let's see how it flows.

Thanks for the update, Ash

As expected a power packed episode and one which held my curiosity and interest as they did not reveal what is going to happen till the very end..actually not even then as i am still looking forward to tomorrow and the result of the confrontation. So well done PH !

I felt the episode was going the cliched route with the first half, but the CVs completely turned the tables in the second half and truly as Ash said...the gloves are off.

Sanaya and Supriya..brilliant...hats off.

Chhanchan brings out the Sonali story in front of everyone ( does that mean the Sonali track is over?) and yet makes it seem as if it was just suspicion and asks UBs forgiveness...earns brownie points from Dadaji and Manav.

Just when it seemed that she was going to lead UB on and lull her into a false sense of security, she shows UB the footage and brings out everything in the happen. Most of us wanted to know ..where UB is coming from..what is the rationale behind her actions as it seemed it was only her ego which was driving her. But today it was clarified that it was not personal ego or gain but her family's happiness and its unity that is paramount to her. And for her the only way to keep it intact is by ruling the household with an iron fist. Chhanchhan is modern...she challenged UB in the first meeting itself and in UB's mind such girls don't have it in them to keep the family intact so she needs to go. UB's life experiences and hardships have scarred her and she did admit that sometimes she does go too far like in the case of wanting Sonali as her DIL but in her mind its all for the good of the family so its justified.
There was definitely some Khoobsurat reference today and the CVs did try to emphasize that the fight was not between good and evil but between different ideologies. I think they are trying to rework UB's character here and although not entirely convincing yet she did seem more grey today than ever before.

Today's verbal confrontation was required and was long due but from now on if we can see the clash of the ideologies in action, it would be good. Although it will be justified if they show Chch winning more of the battles, I would still like to see them treading the middle path here rather than outrightly rejecting whatever is traditional and old. Instead showing that traditions and old values do have a basis and developed as a result of societal norms at that time but with changing times some of them might have become redundant and some need to be adapted.

Like the case of dowry...it did start as a means of financial security for a woman at the time when most women were probably not financially independent otherwise. But today a woman can support her family by earning in times of hardship and even otherwise and does not need to rely on dowry given by her family.

Chch's dialogue in the precap about deep set roots also needing fresh air resonates well with what my expectations are from this show...hope the creatives have realized thats what the viewers were looking for when the show started and will deliver that.

Yes Capri... hope they do not take the ghisa pita route... with CC winning everything and UB losing ... there is a middle way... but both will have to work towards getting there.

I too caught the Khoobsurat reference ... looks like the PH is reading the stuff we write here... that and UB's reasoning/explanation seemed to be completely aimed at us!!

Like Dia says , CC and UB are essentially focused on the same thing... keeping the family together... both in their own ways... their methods may be different so if they actually combine forces , they will be undefeatable!

Looking forward to the ride. Suspect that the Mukut-Kaumudi storm is going to hit soon... he was looking totally bored in the dandiya yesterday!

I still don't like Uma, but that's neither here nor there. The thing is this issue is very real- idealism vs tradition/experience. While the elders might believe that what has gone on for ages should continue as such, and that their experience trumps all newer, and possibly better ideas, they forget that change is the only constant in this world. And in this case, Uma is completely wrong, esp in the issue of dowry . her father might have been able to afford it, but Purvi' s dad couldn't , and that's the story of millions of households in India. I'm all for challenges, I'm sure Chhanchhan will overcome all UB throws at her. In fact, in her strictness, UB has lost the confidence and trust of her children. Mukut and Kaumudi's marriage is a farce, Mansi hides her tattoos, somewhere at the back of his mind, even Manav knows that his mother is capable of Machiavellian plots, and the whole family has been held together by fear, not love. I'm all for Chhanchhan Raj- maybe that's the story- that she changes the whole atmosphere of the house and Uma realizes that she was wrong, not this "modern" khayalon wali ladki. And Uma wants equality? What a joke- her DILs are reduced to glorified servants, are they not part of her family? She's still being selfish, as far as I am concerned, and only for herself. I don't see how her actions have benefited the family she claims to love . Also, I really hope Manav heard at least the tail end, where she said I will never accept you .
Forgot to add- fabulous acting all around, esp SupriyaJi and Sanaya! I hope the TRPs increase, this is as dramatic as they can get without sacrificing all logic. And I see awards incoming, In Sha Allah.

Yes... UB's logic though right does not appeal... we can counter argue everything that she said. UB is also living in delusion that all's right with her family... the skeletons will come out of the cupboard now and when she realizes that some of her actions have actually resulted in keeping an unhappy family together... she will probably change... and CC will have to lead her towards that path of realization...

Her actions in her mind have kept her family together , in good times and bad... and that's what matters to her... the bahus will not split the house like her , the brothers bond well... and she has the financial security of the dowry that probably all the bahus brought in..

She is looking at life colored by her experiences ( not wrong )...but then things could be different and are different !

When the experience spectacles break or come off... it will be an awakening for her... hopefully that means the two of them ( CC and UB) work withe each other...

Did Manav hear the end? Hope so...

lol. We have cricket fan here do we?😆

BCCI, you mistake me Ash(I hope I got that right), at this point UB is more like the BCCI...😆 Nothing fazes her and she is the boss after all...or thinks she is...however delusional that might be., no matter what the wolds thinks or sees, she has her own way.😆

Yeah might as well start off new now. Seeing that's what they are trying to do as well.
Still don't trust UB though, I felt like any moment , she would snatch that phone and chuck it away into a nearby magical non-existent before today BS swimming pool...😆 And say Take that Chhhan Chhhan😈

guess they are trying to sort out UB's characterization and also tried to give us an insight into all those Whys we've been speculating about with regards to her with great pains i might add...Will wait to see how that pans out before anything, by the end of the week we should have some idea about how successful they have been., if at all.

it was nice to see how PH molded Khoobsurat concept in today's episode and interestingly supriya ji is playing the role her mother Dina Pathak played in Khubsoorat :D. Definitely interesting journey ahead!!
