Thanks for the comments everyone! Great discussion!

I agree with the fact that Sanaya must have chosen this show for a reason - I'm just not too sure what it was at this point! 😆 But, honestly, I do wish the best for the show for her sake.
@Guinea - I totally see your point. It's difficult to determine what will make a good/popular show. I also watch 'Badalte Rishton ki Dastaan' and think it's really interesting with a fast pace and good acting. But, for some reason, noone is watching the show and it's going off-air. So, who knows?
A great show requires team effort. Not just the lead actors, but also the production, writing, supporting actors - everything needs to work for success to happen.
Now that the Sanaya-Anuj pair is looking good, I hope the storyline, writing, and execution improves too. I don't want to see ChanChan preaching all the time (I thought the "eco-friendly" wedding was too much). There needs to be balance somewhere. Umaben is not an enjoyable character (no matter how good an actress Supriya Pathak may be).
I hate to reference IPKKND again... lol... But, the reason it was so successful is because it had a little bit of everyting: Romance, Comedy, Drama, Intrigue, Love, Hate, Great music, Great dialogue etc... ASR was a horrible person to Khushi, but he had redeeming qualities. Khushi was idealistic, but she was also sometimes naive. Mamiji was mean, but she was also hilarious! etc... Everyone was flawed. That's what makes a show interesting. When all the characters are black and white caricatures, there is no fun in watching. It becomes very predictable.
Also, regarding Farhan. I honestly think that he doesn't need more publicity. No point in fans trying to get an apology from him, etc. Sanaya is a big girl and a professional. As we saw in today's SBS, she knows what's going on, and she will handle it. FK doesn't deserve more attention at this point. That's my opinion on that.
Anyways - let's hope for the best from this point forward!

agree with everything you said abt FK and Sanaya's professionalism doesn't require to be spoken about...she defines "actions speak louder than words"..

anyway, what I strongly disagree with is that CC is a typical run-in-the-mill saas-bahu show. NO, it is not. But sadly, Indian audience is not ready to accept change yet..there are only two categories of daily soaps according to them - a love story of any kind, though the most popular being a dark, brooding hero and a happy go lucky heroine AND a family drama with a demure and docile bahu and/or bahus, her/their events in the family. Occasionally, just a family drama telling a story about every character in that particular family.

Pick any show apart from CC thats running on television right now and try to fit it into one of the above two categories, you'll find every single one fits.

So yes, CC is not really the typical show. The reason its not doing well is because people are not ready to see a bahu overtaking a saas and/or will not accept the simple and sweet love story of CC and Manav coz of a third class actor's non existent chemistry with Sanaya after her record breaking chemistry with Barun.

So did Sanaya make a mistake in choosing this show? Should she have chosen a show that had more "marketing value" than creative satisfaction? Well, only time will tell.. In the end, what she gains from this show defines whether she made a mistake or not.

A lot of people after MJHT, had felt that she made a huge mistake in choosing the character of khushi which was an abysmal and loud and poorly written character, elevated only and only coz of Sanaya's acting skills.. not surprising, since the show was male dominated and in favour of the male character. Also, most people did not love khushi, they loved Arnav/Barun and loved khushi ONLY coz she was with him..they might as well have loved a rock in her place. Then again, the show had only a love story and that was its purpose and the purpose was fulfilled. Also, the love story was scripted so beautifully, that I believe Barun and Sanaya are right when they say that they just act and the scenes look beautiful.

So, in that sense, character wise, yes, she could have done much, much better. But it didn't look so bad after all, did it?

Here, the character is CC is in itself good, even though the show might not be the best, TRP garnering show. The show has potential. She has a chance to work with veteran actors like Supriya Pathak. For the actress in her, CC has to be really a very hard earned gift. She has always said that her journey towards this position hasn't been easy and now that her talents has been recognised, its time she polished them by working with such seasoned actors..

The show's fate does not relate in any way to whether Sanaya did a mistake in choosing this show. I'm sure that in one way or the other it will definitely benefit her.

Just like MJHT. Just like IPK. She has been wise in her choice of roles, trying very hard not to choose what she has already done before. And I think so far she has been successful, so as an actor, she has definitely gained from every show she has done so far.

Sorry for the long post. Just couldn't help but voice my opinions on this one though, coz it is a very balanced and unbiased post. 😊

Totally understand what you mean abt IPK being a great show and the hallmarks of a great show ..but alas great shows come once in many years. My expectations from channchann are quite modest ...I just hope its a decent show and has a decent run. I hope the script becomes tighter and the dialogues a bit crisper ... On the execution front I donot have great hopes . Mythologicals seem to be the flavour of the season right now and I am told some of them are quiet good but I just cannot develop my interest in them... Have you noticed another thing in the last 1 year their have been only 2 shows which have gained success , one is QH and the other is Veera ... Its not easy for new shows ...anyway fantastic post again , hope to see more of them in the forum.

Best post on the entire CC scenario, agreed with each and every word 👍🏼

As much as I would like to see sanaya in another show,I don't think I can see sanaya carrying the mark of a flop show, specially with so many vultures lurking around. Moreover, considering sanaya's age,she won't be getting too many offers for young love stories anymore...who knows the next one ends up being even worse. So for her sake I want the show to succeed n end when it reaches a logical conclusion

I liked this post. It was very balanced. Only a few things to add. I tried to watch CC..it was gawdawfully bad and I can't stand the saas-bahu story lines anyway, so I gave up. FK might be a very poor actor and also, obviously not the smartest person (I agree with your diagnosis of delusional) in the world based on his interview.

But I'll say this. Sanaya did a very uncool thing by commenting on his acting skills first. It's obvious they weren't friends (and that's fine- you don't need to be best friends with your co-workers, you only need a professional working relationship), and it was obvious for the world to see that he wasn't doing a good job. What was uncalled for (and unprofessional) of her was to comment on TV that she wants a good actor to replace him. Tacitly, she acknowledged what everyone knew- that he wasn't a good actor. The problem with that is : It's not professional. If you think you're colleague is doing a poor job, you tell your boss your problem. You don't announce it to the world. Sanaya did that- she sold her colleague (and peer-she should've respected that, if nothing else) short and that's not done.

FK reacted after he was kicked out by giving this dumbass interview. Why did he give it?

1). He was pissed at Sanaya for whatever XYZ reasons.

2). He has nothing to lose. I think it's pretty obvious to him and everyone else that his TV career is fairly over (for the moment) at least.

And finally, bang on about Sanaya not being herself in the off screen segments. I think the way IPK ended really affected her. She's not over it yet. I think she rushed into this new show. She should've taken a sabbatical just to recover mentally. Of course, she knows best what she's doing. All I am saying is, she's not the old Sanaya Irani. The sparkle has dimmed. And that's just sad, 'cos she was a spirited, fun gal and (still is) a very good actor. Now she just comes across as jaded, and honestly, slightly pissed with the world with all her poorly-veiled sarcastic remarks.

All said, I wish her and the CC team nothing but the best. I hope that with the replacement, the show does very well for all their sakes.
