Hi Everyone!
I don't normally post on the ChanChan forum, although I do read off and on. I was/am a huge fan of IPKKND and used to post on that forum. But, since the end of IPKKND, I haven't had the desire to really post much on IF.
However, with ALL this drama happening around ChanChan... I wanted to share some of my viewpoints - which I think are pretty objective.
# 1 - Regarding Sanaya - I love Sanaya as an actress. She is simply superb! ⭐️ In fact, I think my initial love for IPKKND was because of Khushi, not Arnav (that came later of course!). Meanwhile, off-screen, Sanaya has always been really fun to watch too. She is very candid, loves her work, and loves to have a good time. It was always fun to watch the behind the scenes videos of IPKKND though because the WHOLE cast was amazing and shared such a great camraderie. It's actually been sad to see the off-screen segments of CC, because Sanaya has not been herself at all.
# 2 - Regarding "ChanChan" - the actual show. Let's be honest, CC is not a very good show. This is an honest opinion from someone who desperately wanted to like the show for Sanaya's sake. Let's put aside Farhan Khan for a minute (I'll get to that). Regardless of the lead chemistry or lack of chemistry, CC is a boring show. It has a very basic plot. The characters are not very well-written. It is your typical, run-of-the-mill, indian soap. And, frankly, I still don't understand why Sanaya chose this show. Personally, I feel that deep inside, she probably regrets it. IPKKND was in a different league entirely. This show is not even 2% of what IPKKND was. Let's be honest, I'm sure that the majority of us watch for Sanaya alone. And, an entire show can not be successful based on a single actor - no matter how great they are.
# 3 - Regarding Farhan Khan - the "actor". Objectively, FK is a non-actor as far as I am concerned. He was not good. Period. BUT, in my opinion, he was also put in an impossible and unfair situation. The production house should have never cast him in the first place. This whole thing could have been avoided if the PH had used their 'television minds'. Sanaya was just coming off an incredible run on IPKKND. Her chemistry with Barun was epic. They HAD to have known that anything sub-par would be torn apart. And, yet, they cast a complete newbie opposite Sanaya. Why? It stumped me when the casting was first made, and it still stumps me. There is no way that Farhan could have succeeded, being the non-actor that he is. Noone is good in their first show. Not even Sanaya. Not even Barun. For this reason, I cut FK some slack. Honestly, he should have never taken a lead on a show as his first role. He should have done a smaller character first and worked his way up - just like Sanaya initially did. I think it was stupid of the PH to be so short-sighted and not realize the impacts of their choice. Sanaya deserved a great, and seasoned actor opposite her right from the start (where was Anuj 4 months ago?). Had that happened, we would not be in a situation where Sanaya's reputation is being scathed now. It's really frustrating.
# 4 - Regarding Farhan Khan - the person. Listen - he is obviously delusional. 😆 He seems to have a big ego, and his ego is obviously bruised. I think, based on what I have seen of Sanaya, she was probably rubbed the wrong way by FK's personality, and kept away from him. To an extent, it's possible that what FK said is true - maybe Sanaya did not interact with him much (it seemed that way in off-screen segments - no interaction). But, I'm sure that Sanaya had her reasons. She probably was not comfortable with him. Hota hai. I am sure that she was a thorough professional, but she did not get personal with him. And, NO, not because she had any vendetta or because she wanted Mohit with her (which is a stupid thing for FK to say). I've been in work situations where I've not had a personal rapport with a co-worker, and it is never a good feeling. It doesn't mean each person is a "bad" person. It just means they are different people. It was wrong of FK to say Sanaya had any personal and unprofessional intentions against him. That was not cool. But, I also get that he's upset. At the end of day though, if FK wants to work in the industry, he needs to learn some diplomacy. And, he needs to learn how to check his ego at the door.
# 5 - The future of ChanChan. I am glad that Anuj is now on the show. It is apparent that he has some acting chops. He also seems to have a good personality, and has good screen presence. All of these things will be helpful to the show. Do I think it will make a huge difference though? Honestly, not really. I think the only way the show will improve is if the story, script, etc... improves. Otherwise, I see ChanChan going the same way as most SONY tv shows - being cancelled within the next 6 months. Which, to be honest, wouldn't be such a bad thing. Maybe then Sanaya can actually wait for something really spectacular and worthy of her acting skills.
Okay, I know that was long! But, I had so many thoughts to share after all the crazy articles that came out today. All of the above is just my opinion and I'm not on anyone's "side" (or "pala"... haha). I just wish the best for Sanaya - she really deserves it.
