A quick RES before I fall to page 20 or so! 😆

San ... and Lady J and the SG's ... whattay start to Chhanchhan! Or Jingle bells, if you like!
😆

*Edit*

San is backkk!!!! 🤪

She has an author-backed role and the main focus

No OTT stuff
An intelligent heroine ... a thinking modern girl
I am already happy with the show 😆

More pluses - Supriya Pathak as the saas ... a clash of titans. But I don't expect a reprise of Dina Pathak from Khubsoorat ... Surpiya's Uma Ben is already very different.
So is Chhanchhan from Rekha in Khubsoorat ... Rekha was more bindaaas ... Chhanchhan is more sorted and thehri hui ... yet with a hint of rebelliousness ... ok, more than a hint 😛 Me likes even more.

More on the episode ...
Opening act - Daadi reminds me of my greataunts ... well-meaning loving old biddies, concerned at my lack of marital ambitions, even more concerned at my parents' unconcern 😆

Chhanchhan can't cook ... neither could her mom when she got married ... lord, what happened to sati savitri Bhartiya Indian naris? Again sounds like me when I got married! 😆 Me likes more and more 😆 But then, my MIL was cool , as apparently CC's grandmom was too.

Loved the dogs. Liked the friends - high spirited, uninhibited girls ... again reminded me of my gang back in college ... everyone would wonder just how loud we could be! 😆

Scene of the episode - the San-Supriya face off at the temple. Supriyaji telling her servant to 'upar karo' the umbrella ... with just the right mixture of unconscious arrogance and impatience without being overtly rude ... and her more conscious arrogance in her 'God bless the world ... starting with me, of course.' Nope, that is not Dina Pathak from Khubsoorat. This lady is more a female ASR! 😆

Oh yes, there's a guy around somewhere, he's the male lead because if Chhanchhan is a bahu, she needs a husband 😆 ... but the real tussle is between the two stalwarts ... and for once, the bahu is not the 'ji Maji' dying duck type ...

Is the MIL going to be a typical vampish MIL? Hope not ... anyway, as Chhanchhan is very much my kind of girl, I will be tuning in for sure.

J 🤗 I agree this show is shaping up to be a saas bahu show which I don't mind because I'm far more interested in watching Supriya and Sanaya's characters face off than watching a love story. Overall for the first episode I liked it, will continue to watch for Sanaya who looked gorgeous.

Lady J, for the very first time in my life I must have switched on the TV for a first day episode all because of Sanaya. Even for the voldermort show, I watched from the guest house Maha episode and then went back and found my way to an addiction which sigh I doubt will get over in long time.

Well my 2cents - hmm apart from few things, the episode didn't give me something akin to a jhatka - you know where you are biting your nails and sitting at the edge of your seat and holding your breath. Few things I really liked very are ofcourse our Dhikri, the dogs, the costumes and the sets(Devi Maiyya was gracious to give this PH some solid mind and looking at the promotion and the costumes, these people ain't going to cut corners unlike some other PH) and Supriya's acting of 'Oh I am so arrogant but hell hath freeze over before I admit it'.

And I agree with you - the show looking at the way it went for the first episode is going to be a clone of the 'n' number of shows that show a daughter-in-law sorting out a dysfunctional family. Well you have the one in which strict bhabo who literally breathes fire in DABH on SP and you have a clever journo playing mind games on Zee in Housewife and well you now have their cousin on Sony - a liberal 'I don't care 2 hoots but I know how to win' Chanchan against Umaben. So no idea on why the promotion said it is not saas-bahu.

And coming to the other cast, I actually was looking for the side actors too because all of them came in one of my other favorite serials by the same PH but here the PH didn't present them in a good way. The mom, the brother were in Saas Bina Sasural and actually they had some good characterizations in that serial but here they didn't gel well enough for me.

And rule of the thumb for any PH - you bank on your golden cookie in the first few minutes. They should have shown Chanchan's intro in the first scene rather than the over the top Dadi and her weird dream and then the whole family for 10 minutes before Chanchan was introduced. And don't throw chappals at me but didn't like the friends(the actresses I mean) and the whole preachy stuff. It is okay to show girls chasing dreams now but please don't go to either extremes - don't show that to be traditional means you are a wimp and likewise don't show that to be liberal you don't know simple stuff like wearing sarees. Even though I work, I love draping sarees which I often do and absolutely love to dress up my girls in traditional attire. I don't think that makes me a person who is not liberal.

And agree with you the male lead has miles to go before he can fill in the gaint shoes left void by someone. He fell flat for me - from removing the aviators to the taunts as someone else has perfected the same and the bar is very high. And for god sake can he please shave already - his bread is giving me creeps.

On retrospective, would have been better had the PH taken their time and put together the cast and shoot little more and the screenplay was little crisper. And given that for this show the competition is none other than the god of this land in the form of IPL which kick starts exactly 2 weeks after this show has gone on - I am not sure the PH and the Channel did a very wise thing in putting this one up so soon on air.

So I would be watching this show and hopefully it will be up for this show after the first episode unlike some PHs who rise to a zenith and take no time to fall to the nadir - I wish all the team the very best. Will watch this show that is as long as I have the remote with me which is for precisely 2 weeks and after that it would be repeats and records.

Agree with you Priyanka - Sanaya needs to get over Khushi's mannerisms like biting nails, putting hand on her head and absolutely didn't like the friends - were acting hard and Sanaya looked much older than all of them to come across as a batch of childhood buddies. Supriya's acting was good but the BG and the make up were horrible to say the least. And one thing the PH shouldn't have done is to give out that this movie is Khoobsurat remake - Hopefully I too won't end up comparing with Rekha's original because it was a class apart.

Priyanka/ Sarada,
Good to see everyone here😊
I guess there will be a Khushi hangover because in essence both characters are very similar. Both are well brought up girls who love their families, have a set of morals and principles, love to smile and make others smile and have it in them to stand up to someone they think is in the wrong. So while Khushi in all her glory was taming ASR, ChanChann will be doing the same with her sasu ma.
But i do agree on the supporting cast; they did not come across as very impressive. Hoping to see a better bonding between the family than what came across today.
About the new man in the aviators; i will reserve judgement but for now the lesser said the better!
