@anu - as if i would ever gush beyond wht i have already but his acting and sorrow did really touch a chord...so here goes...
A thousand promises she made,
But the shards of so many more broken,
Surround me tonight,
And laugh,
And mock,
My love for her.
Promises she made with a smile,
Some that twinkled in her eyes,
And those that came,
With the touch of her hand,
I held them deep inside,
Bright as a bloom and just like,
My love for her.
She said she would walk by my side,
Spend the days in my arms,
And the nights in my dreams,
And together we would journey miles,
And I knew I would never tire of her,
Or of my love for her.
Promises we made, promises we lived,
But how short was their stay,
For the hungry beasts,
That darkened our door,
And ate away her heart with doubt,
Diseased, polluted, enraged she questioned,
My love for her.
I fell to my knees, cut to the bone,
Mired in grief and steeped in blood,
Once I begged, so often I pleaded,
For her to believe in me,
In us,
And in my love for her.
Only to be slapped with a blow so loud,
My pain echoed inside for a thousand nights,
Left alone to die I wondered once,
At the worth of a promise made in love,
The lonely hours spoke and said,
Her vows had never equalled,
My love for her.
But tonight I burn all the promises made,
And the tears that soak my saddened smile,
The memories that taunt the days to come,
Scorched to flames in this fire that flares,
So callously in an empty room and heart,
And all that remains are the ashes,
Of my love for her.
obviously no where near as close to some of the splendor we see around here but oh well! ๐ณ
