Holy heaven! Baiyaan naa dharo... Oh sajna... what a song! ❤️
Here's one song from my end...
Song: Aayega Aanewala
Singer: Lata Mangeshkar Khemchand Prakash
Film: Mahal

I particularly like tum naa jaane kis jahan mei kho gaye. God, these melodies are so evergreen ❤️
YES YES YES! This song cannot be loved enough! Another example of how under-rated & brilliant Dada is! ❤️
I haven't said this before, but I love your enthusiasm! It matches my own when it comes to classic songs and its nice to have someone fangirl with at the same level! 😆Holy heaven! Baiyaan naa dharo... Oh sajna... what a song! ❤️
Even if you listen to one classic song a day, that moment, that time is so refreshing, and calming. Sometimes I am working but classic songs are playing in the background. It feels so much better.
Also, really thankful that we have a treasure trove of old melodies that continue to stand the test of time even today ❤️
Ok, I thought I'd do one post per singer (though I'm likely to go back to Rafi & Lata many many times)
This one is dedicated to Talat Mahmood.
Talat's voice was refreshingly unique. On the surface, it seems soft and mellow and suited to only one type of song - a soulful ballad or a romantic ditty but dig deep and you find it's surprisingly versatile. Case in point - the number of sad songs he's sung that are simply heart-wrenching & cut through your very soul.
Film: Madhosh (1951)
Music: Madan Mohan
Lyrics: Raja Mehdi Ali Khan
Meri yaad mein tum na aansoo bahana, na jee ko jalana mujhe bhool jaana

Film: Doraha (1952)
Music: Anil Biswas
Lyrics: Sahir Ludhianvi
Mohabbat tark ki maine, garebaa si liya maine! ⭐️
Tujhe apna nahi sakta, magar itna bhi kya kam hai
ki kuchh ghadiyaan tere khwabon mein khokar ji liya maine 👏⭐️⭐️
How I love this song, Sahir's lyrics are stunningly painful, Talat's voice carries the sadness & imprints it on your soul! Beautiful, beautiful song! Hats off to the creators!

PS: I wish I could find a video for this one. If anyone does find it, I'd be grateful if you post it.
Film: Dil-e-nadaan (1953)
Music: Ghulam Mohammad
Lyrics: Shakeel Badayuni
This sounds like a romantic tune, but the lyrics say otherwise...
It's a heartfelt lament to the Almighty, a complaint filled with regret, bitterness and anger.

Talat's voice when he hits the high note in the second verse, the pain it carries! 😭
Bekhata tune mujh se khushi cheen li
zinda rakha magar zindagi cheen li
kar diya dil ka khoon, chhup kahan tak rahoon
saaf kyun na kahoon, tu khushi se meri darr gaya
Talat Mahmood is pure ❤️ so many of my favourite songs are sung by him.
My favourite is Jalte Hai Jiske Liye from the movie Sujata
Mukesh - now here's a voice that was made for sad songs- at least imo. The sorrow seems seeped in his voice, and when he brings it out, it hits you with its very essence. He's the star of sad songs, I think.
Film: Bambai ka Babu (1960)
Music: S.D. Burman
Lyrics: Majrooh Sultanpuri
Chal ri sajni ab kya soche, kajra na beh jaye rote rote 😭
The ultimate bidaai song for me. I cannot stop crying when I hear this - what a tune, Dada!
Dulhan banke gori khadi hai
koi nahi apna kaisi ghadi hai?
This line especially hits hard for all the married women out there who leave their safe haven, their parents' home and set out on a new life among strangers.

Film: Sangeet Samrat Tansen (1962)
Music: S.N. Tripathi
Lyrics: Shailendra
Mukesh's voice in this one... brilliant! And Shailendra's lyrics are phenomenal! ⭐️
ek hook si uthi, main sihar ke reh gaya
dil ko apne thaam ke aah bhar ke reh gaya 👏

Film: Himalay ki god mein (1964)
Music: Shankar Jaikishen
Lyrics: Shailendra
Teri yaad dil se bhulane chala hoon
ke khud apni hasti mitane chala hoon! (What a line! 👏)
I am currently listening to Talat songs that you just posted.
Pure nostalgia. I am enjoying each and every song.👏🤗
I am bad with movie names, singers' names or actors' names. I may recognise the voice but, I can't tell the name from reading the lyrics. I may recognise the actor, but can't answer if you ask me who acted in a particular movie apart from some super duper hits.
But I love to listen. I know most of the songs that were posted but, if you write a lyric and ask me who sang it or who enacted in the song, I will draw a blank. Whether it is old or new, it is the same story with me.
That is why I am not posting many songs. I will try my best (I love these kids, very inspirational).😊
Cheers..
