Kate wasn't the only guilty party here. Edwina was too. She came across as petulant, spoiled and jealous even. Kate tells her initially that Anthony is not the right man for her, but Edwina cries and rants like he's a favorite toy she has her heart set on. Kate even tells her she will find other suitors but Edwina only wants Anthony!

We are told Kate has been doing this all her life, shielding and protecting Edwina (much like what Antony does for his siblings) and Edwina just cannot swallow that someone she finds desirable actually prefers her sister. We see her looking quizzically at Kate staring at Anthony when he emerged from the lake, but she's not perceptive enough to see that there could be something there?

I'm sick of everyone blaming Kanthony for just loving each other and judging them for finally doing something for themselves for the first time in their lives. Everyone else is allowed to be selfish but them. If they are selfish they become guilty, unkind, wrong. But if Edwina is selfish she is a badass who's standing up for what she wants.

I think it was beautiful how they restrained themselves initially because of 'honor' and finally when the feeling became so powerful they couldn't help themselves.

Still they get judged and not Edwina for not even trying to understand the sacrifices her sister was making at the cost of her own happiness.

Yeah, Edwina - you had to say I'm more kind-hearted than you to Kate, because I, for one, could not see it or feel it.

Kate at least apologized to Edwina, to the extent of denying her kiss with the man she loved, but did Edwina apologize to Kate? She acts so entitled and bratty, and when she's being passive-aggressive to Kanthony she gets called 'sassy' and applauded for it!

That scene of Kate with Mary really shows where she comes from - she feels obligated to Mary for taking her in and always puts down her own wishes and gives precedence to Edwina's. I think Mary saying that it hurts her to think Kate does not deserve all the love in the world - tells us who this character is at her core. It's easy for her to sacrifice Anthony because that's what she has always done. Edwina saying that she only gave her what she really wanted for herself was so harsh so uncalled for! All that talk of true love and yet no one cared that Kanthony truly loved one another!

I will give you that they did not show us much of Kate's backstory or have a conversation (library scene) where her motivations and her character could be better understood, and that maybe the reason why non-book readers find her character slightly off, and hopefully this is remedied in the future seasons. But to me, they are mirrors to each other. They did not need to speak or say anything because they understood the other person so well. They were drawn to each other because of it and they are both shaken by the power of the emotions they are feeling because never before have they met anyone quite like the other person. And Anthony is afraid of falling in love. Kate is conditioned to self- sacrifice. I don't understand even after we're given this clear background of who these two are how people still have doubts about their actions?

I will defend these two till my dying breath. (Sorry if this is too dramatic but I get very passionate about things I love)

I will not judge them for having sex. I will not judge them for falling in love. I will not judge them for finally putting themselves first and choosing to be with the person they love. And Kate did not do this - be with Anthony or even kiss him - till after she had received Edwina's blessing. Edwina chose not to be with Anthony, and only after they were ensured of that did the two of them come together or even make love.

Why, at the point when Edwina is clearly not in the picture, and Kanthony are just having an argument in the gazebo, and there is really nothing to stop them from being with each other except their own sense of duty and responsibility - are they still being judged for having sex? Why?

So no I don't buy any argument about their selfishness because these two are the most selfless beings - in fact, so selfless that they are dedicated to their own unhappiness. So them being finally happy together is a romantic payoff that is totally deserved, imo.

Sorry, if I came across as too harsh - I don't mean to be. I just love them too much and am too invested in them and even if the season wasn't everything I wanted it to be, I still want to remain in my Kanthony bubble and squeal about the things they did get right. So right now am not in the mood to be objective about negative reviews.

When it comes to chemistry and finding someone sexy etc- that is a subjective opinion and there's really no right or wrong. But for me it will always remain JB / Anthony >>>>>>>>>> RJP/ Simon in every way and

Ok first of all, no need for a sorry dear!!! I totally understand, we all feel passionately about this and other Bridgerton stories...its all in good spirit 🤗 Also, I know I am harsh too...some of it is simply because English is not my first language and I dont have good vocabulary to convey what I intend to convey and it comes out harsher than I intend to...anyway..

Coming to the point...You know, I dont blame Edwina because at least she conveyed what she felt like...I understand being in Kate's position..she had to either ruin her sister's dreams or give up on her love and she chose to give up on her love...understood...makes sense on paper...BUT...she did neither this nor that well...if she really cared soo much for Edwina, she should have done better in giving up Anthony....what is with this constant almost kissing and sharing glances...I mean, I understand the dilemna...they want to convey she WANTED to stay away from Anthony but couldn't but again, that TRYING part was really unconvincing to me...I just didn't feel her struggle, I couldn't feel for her, couldn't relate to her and that's why I think I sometimes say its Simone's portrayal of Kate that failed me more than the character....

Also, if she felt indebted by Mary, her general attitude towards everyone around her, that air of arrogance doesnt seem justified..the way she talked to Lady Danbury...almost insulting her...some of her other interactions at the balls and elsewhere...and why does she have to be the gatekeeper for Edwina telling her Anthony is not right for her? If that's the reasoning, of course Edwina tells her that she doesnt agree with this character assessment and wants to give Anthony a chance...Edwina knew it wasn't love that Anthony felt for her and was ok with that...but Kate hid the most important truth from Edwina and that too without managing to actually concealing it well if she did decide to hide it...Can we really blame Edwina for being harsh on Kate after what Kate, the person she most trusted, did to her?

Everything else is fine,..I blame Kate for asking Anthony to go ahead with the wedding after what happened after Sheffields left, I blame Kate for cheating on Edwina and romancing Anthony without resolving those issues first...

I honestly don't feel very strongly about either of these couples but yes, if I had to choose, I would choose RJP over JB (although its a touch fight) and definitely Daphne over Kate..

I would gladly rewatch S1 even after repeating it already 4-5 times but I dont think I can say the same for S2..

I guess somewhere it plays a part that I have always lived following the rules...so I can much more relate to Daph than adventurous Kate...I enjoy watching normal women rise up to the occasion and get strong than someone just randomly picking fights for no particular reason...that's not my definition of a strong woman... I LOVEE seeing strong female characters on and off screens, but to me Kate came across as Rude and arrogant and foolish rather than strong...

Anyway, I don't want to ruin the experience of other's for my sake so I think I should stop now...It really doesn't matter much anyway...I am still looking forward to next seasons but I do hope creatives pull up their socks this time and have a more coherent narrative than just focussing on spicing up things by random sex scenes...

I will only say I found it difficult to rewatch S1 - i was bored out of my wits and only did it for a lark so I could leave a review and tried to be as objective as i could even though I did not like it. Whereas S2 (at least the Kanthony scenes) I will be watching over and over.

And in ' random sex scenes' S1 wins over S2 every time. we only saw one in S2 and it was totally, absolutely justified after 6 episodes of holding themselves back.

In S1 they were going at it like bunnies even when the situation called for talking it out. Sorry i cannot relate to Simon and Daphne at all - they come across as shallow and superficial whereas Kanthony own my soul. And that 'scene' in S1 leaves an absolutely horrible taste even now. i cannot abide by non-consent in any way and that shows Daphne did not have any respect for Simon's agency!

Again the difference in judging: Kate speaking her mind is seen as rude and arrogant and Edwina speaking it is sassy??? Edwina herself declared that she will only marry someone that her sister approves of, and then when Kate warns her Anthony is not right for her, even telling her the reason she still chases him. And then acts all holier-than-thou when he honestly tells her he does not love her!

Kate asked Anthony to go ahead with the wedding only because Edwina ranted and railed at her and told her she loved him! (after the Sheffields incident)! Yes, it was wrong but it comes from years of sacrificing her needs and wants for others. That's just who she is.

And Kate never 'cheated' on Edwina as you call it! They did not kiss until after Edwina had declared she would not marry Anthony! And even after that she still felt guilty. Imagine the extent to which Edwina has gaslighted her!

Anyways, i will stop too. I cannot stop you from feeling what you feel, just as I cannot stop from feeling what I feel. I think we all relate to different things based on who we are, our outlook on life and our life experiences in general and I, for one, completely relate to these two.

Anyway, just to clarify..I have said this about S1 too...such explicit sex scenes were totally unnecessary and seemed only put in to generate a buzz...when reviewers are writing in their reviews that there are less sex scenes, I just dont even get the point of it...review the story, the characters, the technicalities na..what is this that this season is less titillating than previous?? Lol is there a competition?

And yes, I also don't abide by that non-consent scene but I have just deleted that part from my head and rest of the story works better for me but anyway...to each their own!
