I love this song so much! It speaks of freedom in such a beautiful way, you can almost feel it! Shankar Jaikishen's tune just enhances that feeling as does the lyrics by Hasrat Jaipuri. There's an innate sense of exuberance, exaltation and joy in it that's hard to escape. You find yourself immersed in that spirit of letting go and experiencing true freedom with abandon, basking in the glories of nature! Such a lovely, lovely song! SJ make Lata sing impossibly high notes, making her trill like a bird (something she used to complain about all the time about their compositions, and I have to agree SJ and Salilda stretched her voice to the limits!) but she hits it out of the park as only Lata can do. And Mannada's 'Hillori" is like icing on the cake!

The parallels drawn using nature as metaphor are just brilliant!

Oh..main toh odhoongi baadal ka aanchal ❤️

oh main toh pehnoongi bijli ki paayal ❤️

oh..cheen loongi ghataon se kaajal

oh mera jeevan hai nadiya ki halchal

dil se mere leher uthe thandi pavan mein ❤️ (I can almost feel the cool breeze here)

aaj main azaad hoon duniya ke chaman mein

In fact this song and Suhana Safar are the ones that come topmost to my mind when I think of songs about nature. Incidentally I just read up that it's inspired by this Scottish tune Comin' thro' the Rye, but in places, it sounds like Raag Bhupali.

I have always loved this movie, in fact every iteration of 'It happened one night', just because I enjoy that trope so much! And Nargis and Raj Kapoor's organic chemistry was played up to the hilt in 'Chori Chori'. The movie's songs are just incredible - one hit after another. I can't pick a favorite, so will post them all! ❤️

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fvi7bfgWsK4 (Rasik Balma) ⭐️ - Raag Shuddh Kalyan, same as Chand phir nikla! Such a heart-breakingly exquisite composition!

Many if not most of the music lovers of old Hindi Film music may not be aware that Geeta Dutt has sung some really sweet and melodious non-film (private) songs in Hindi. Geeta Dutt has sung about a couple of dozen odd non-film songs in Hindi (and some more in Gujrati, Bengali, Punjabi and Marathi). Though these are quite less compared to the Hindi film songs (which are approximately 1200), yet there is a good amount of variety in her non-film songs.

Probably one of the relatively known non-film song would be “Haule haule hawaa dole”. Those who are familiar to the era of the 78 RPM records would remember that the other side of this disc had the religious song “Jamunaa ke teer kanhaa aao”. Both of these songs have been composed by the distinguished tabla player Pandit Nikhil Ghosh, younger brother of famous virtuoso of Hindustani classical music on the transverse flute, Pandit Pannalal Ghosh. The lyrics were penned by Bharat Vyas.

“Haule haule hawaa dole” begins with Geeta almost whispering the words “Haule haule..haayein dole” in her dreamy voice. The rhythm picks up and we have this fast paced song rendered so effortlessly by Geeta. It is kind of surprising that a song where the girl is calling for her “King of hearts” and is saying “saawan suhawan aaya, piya mere tum naa aaye” is not a slow and deeply expressing song. Quite unlike the opening words, the song is far from a "Haule haule" song. It is very fast-paced. This was one of the few non-film songs that one could hear very frequently on the radio in the late forties/early fifties. The Bengali nuance/accent in her voice is quite manifest and, if anything, it makes the song even more enjoyable. This also negates the (wrongly) oft- expressed view about Geeta's early singing style that "Gaati to achha hai magar roti bahut hai". The delight of anticipation suffuses this song with a unique charm all its own. The beats of Tabla before the words “Ghan ghan badaraa gaaje, jhan jhan paayal baaje” are simple indication of the genius of Pandit Nikhil Ghosh. It is kind of surprising that these are the only two non-film songs composed by this maestro for Geeta Dutt.

Such a beautiful song! And Geeta Dutt sings it wonderfully, it's hard to emulate the ups and downs in her voice. Her voice is truly wonderfully unique! ❤️

Thanks for sharing this! ❤️

Dear friends,

Wish you all a wonderful and bright morning wherever you are! As dawn breaks, may you all experience the wonder and the promise of a new day, a day full of hope and limitless possibilities!

And what song could exemplify the beauty of a new day other than this one?

A beautiful beautiful composition by Sudhir Phadke with lyrics by Pt. Narendra Sharma, the pure joy, the divine beauty and the pristine serenity this song in Raag Bhoop brings is simply unparalleled. 😭

Lata, of course, kills it, but the song is equally, if not more beautiful in its composer, Sudhir Phadke's voice.

Main Bangali Chokra from Raagini (1958) picturized on danseuse par excellence Padmini and eccentric genius Kishore Kumar who sang for himself here, whereas the music director O.P. Nayyar had used Rafi as playback for Kishore Kumar for another song in the same movie - Mann mora baawra. One of the rare O.P.- Kishore combos, he didn't use Kishore much, mostly preferring Rafi, but KK does a great job here!

Here KK is ably supported by Asha Bhosle and the lyricist Qamar Jalalabaadi superbly pens lines that add to the zaniness of the song, though I'm pretty sure the interludes (Shokhi go tomay kemon kore pabo and the interjections - Ore baba!) are all entirely Kishoreda's madness! LOL

I love this last antara

Sach poocho to mere dil mein pyar "ille ille" LOLLOL

O Bangali mera ho ja kehti hai Miss Pillai ROFL

Pappi tujhe pukarti Gangoli yaaram ROFL

Mera ho ja saajna phir bedapaaram! 😆

Pappi was Padmini's nickname and Gangoli of course was Kishore's last name!

This song never fails to make me laugh. So under-rated though as compared to the more popular "Main Sitaron ka tarana" that I also love to bits (the KK madness in that song is impossibly hard to resist). I thought Padmini does a terrific job keeping up with Kishoreda's comic timing (as did Madhubala in Main Sitaron Ka).

The dance in the beginning is excellent too, which is to be expected with Padmini on screen!

I am in love with old bollywood classic songs 💖

Nowadays my alexa only plays 1950's and 60's songs .

I love all the songs except baharon phool barsao mera mehboob aaya hai

I thought it's a sad song n heroine was going to marry some another person 🤣

But my mum cleared my doubt and said it's one of the best romantic song of that time

Still I don't like that song the music is so gloomy

OMG! Kriti! 🤗 Welcome! 🤗

So happy to have you here! ❤️

And lmaoooo about Baharon phool barsao! Have you seen the video though?

I have to agree with you here, it's not my fav either! Idk why but I generally tend to dislike songs in Raag Sivaranjani and this one its the topmost on that list! I guess because it's so overused in Hindi film music - kitne gaane bane hain iss raag mein! 🤪

Uss din tumne 'Hum pyar mein jalnewalon ko' post kiya tha Pride wale thread mein and I thought it was just a fluke! Kya pata tha mujhe ki ek aur purane gaanon ki fan is coming out of the closet! 🤣
