Hi Honey.....although I work in this field... I avoid medications or vaccine...always preferred natural remedies...of course some times you have no choice for some illness and you need to take drugs or get vaccinated ....last year i was very skeptic about covid vaccine....the hope was that it will get better in 2021...but it didn’t...we are still in pandemic with many variants that are severe than the original in 2020...one thing I do is that I research a lot and follow real time data....at a point I got comfortable in taking the mRNA vaccine...yet I would say like 20% I was debating....then it came to a point that we all collectively need to cooperate so that we put an end to this pandemic...the vaccine may not work for some ( no antibodies) and it may for some...also less effective against variants...but the more number of ppl vaccinated then there is a higher probability of decreasing the spread rate. Also it seems at least it decrease severity and hospitalization. There is the impact on front line workers and health system...then the fact that everyone around me got vaccinated which also encouraged me...so I decided to get vaccinated....we don’t know the side effects down the line but we need to overcome this pandemic to think about few years from now on. Also we won’t be alone in experiencing side effects if any...a good percentage of the world got vaccinated.
I totally understand your decision to take the vaccine Maya 🤗 . I was not hesitant to take it at all due to having diabetes and wheezing issues. Now I am not so sure abt it as I have a weird thing going on for the past one month.
One day after going for a walk , I had a sharp shin splint pain in left leg. Then that area was getting numb (partial may be 20-30 % numbness). Then slowly within 2 days , whole left side of the body got numb. Saw my dr and she referred me to see a neurologist. Next day, numbness came upto face. Went to ER , they checked for stroke symptoms, took mri for brain. Everything came out normal so they sent me back saying no life threatening issue. My motor nerves and movements weren’t affected only sensory nerves.
I was trying so hard to get a neurologist appointment. Had to call so many doctors as they were all fully booked. Meanwhile my right side also went numb. Neck and upper back were the most affected body parts. I got so scared and thought it was the side effect of covid vaccine and I was getting GBS (guillain barre syndrome).
All the blood work ordered by neurologist came out normal ( to rule out anti immune diseases like lupus , rheumatoid arthritis etc).
Then took mri for spine, it was normal too. My neck showed some muscle spasm and straightening of cervical lordosis. Numbness gets better in the day but when I sleep (lying down) or sit for a long time for more than 15 mins , it increases. EMG test conducted by neurologist was normal except he found a nerve pinch in neck. Not sure if that is the problem for this whole numbness. Going for physical therapy now for the nerve pinch.
Some days are better but then suddenly numbness would return . Just taking it slow , not working out that much. Just doing yoga and walk for 2 miles everyday. I don’t know if this numbness is related with the nerve pinch or due to the vaccine shot. I wish it is just a temporary issue and would get better as the days goes on. It was so scary though , I was so stressed and depressed. Not knowing whats the cause was the biggest stressor 😒 .
I tend to believe it is related with posture and nerve pinch as numbness increases if I keep my neck in a different position to watch tv while lying down. these days everyone look at their phone/ipad a lot bending the neck. Esp people in IT , using laptop. Try to use monitor at eye level. Please do take care of your posture. Yoga helps a lot with all the body parts esp spine. Try yoga or at least do 12 rounds of surya namaskar everyday.
