Hi Everyone,
Hope you're all doing well
Thought of visiting some point of time to see how the mood is like
Guess I should have visited earlier
Most of you would have been hearing a lot of stuff and sometimes it leaves us confused and sometimes worried especially when it comes to doing what's safe
It's almost 8months into this pandemic and the messaging hasn't gone well. Its no use following safety measures without knowing when it's most needed
I just thought I'd share some of the things I have read on this and things where there's a greater consensus but I leave it to you guys to make up your mind
In general, outdoors are safer.
Most super spreader happen indoors where ventilation is poor
However, in lockdown you have been told not to go outside
Also most social distance rules are applicable outside but indoors it's may not be enough
There's a lot of debate viruses are airborne. If you compare with TB or measles,it's not. However it can remain as aerosols for a brief period of time in indoor settings. So ventilation is very important
Most people mask outdoors but if they were to be worn, it's in indoors where you're meeting people
Also exposure and duration are important factors in infection.
Fleeting encounters with people are not going to cause major risks
Interaction for a period of time increases the risk and the nature of interaction plays a role.
Also not all infected people spread. Unlike flu which spread uniformly, there is asymetry . Generally there is this paretto logic where actually 20% of infected people cause 80% of the infections
It's not possible to know who is likely to be a superspreader but most of these events have happened in poorly ventilated indoor settings
I guess this is enough for the moment
If there's anything else will cover in another post
