Annhilation- on which page did you guys dicuss GG? Give me the number. I want to join in too. 😆

Khushi - you too didn't watch GG? Please do. 😳

Aven - hi 5! I love Ben Affleck but I have no idea why I didn't want Amy to be jailed in the end ! I know it sounds ironical but Rosamund excelled so well in that particular role that I ended up cheering for Amy, not too vocally though. 😆And they had a great chemitsry - Nick & Amy!

Nick is so like Arjun - a typical middle class, ordinary guy who always wanted an easy way and Amy was such a posh and demanding wife wanted total CONTROL.
Too bad Maya is not even a patch on Amy. Amy is so much more astute and canny.

If we're to assume that Samay cheated on Maya with someone then why and how would Samay be so obsessively in love with her (that's again considering if Samay's such a lover). It sorta negates Maya's supposed claims of infidelity in that scene where she's getting him beaten up by the cops. 🤔 Sigh. My hopes are going up, down and haywire like Elliott wave chart. 😆

Oh my, no. I beg to differ on this so bad. Arjun is nothing like Nick, imo. Nick basically was lying and cheating scumbag. (I'm still Nick party here if you ask me to pick between Amy and him though. 😆) Arjun when compared to Nick is a bhola, bhala, abla bechara baccha. Nick admittedly saw Amy as a source of never ending income. Yeah, Arjun does have the freeloader sorta attitude and thinking but he never once showed any signs that he married Maya for her money or that her wealth was a part of the reason. IMO, he saw he desired Maya's power and authority (stems from his feelings that he couldn't do anything to save his mother or dad's lives), not really the money.

OH NO WAY IN HELL! 😳 I think we are on opposite sides when it comes to GG. It's a surprise even for me that I'd pick a side of someone as low life as Nick. Trust me, I don't like him one bit but given the stories of both Nick and Amy, would you blame for picking up Nick's? Because Nick only flaw must have been that he was a freeloader and cheater. AMY? Oh my, where do I start? This is exactly what I say in Maya's case too, no matter your past and no matter who wronged you, you got no right to wrong innocents and especially NOT to this extent. Yeah, Nick was nowhere an innocent but the kind of punishment he was given for his share of crimes, like I said, death's any day better than a lifetime with someone like Amy.

Amy was not only that. She was so extremely manipulative that she cooked up stories about her own father sexually abusing her just to get Desi's sympathies. Coz she knew he had a thing for the damaged girls, he wanted to be a savior of the damsels in distress. This was never shown in the movie, but it's there in the book.

She was a psychopath right from her childhood. She accused one of her classmates of attacking her with a knife just because she defeated her in something, at school, exactly what i don't remember right now.

Coming to Nick - He, somewhere never wanted to leave Amy. He wanted a baby with her but she disapproved. That's when he moved on to that young girl.
He said once, " Amy being pregnant would have been the best thing a few years ago" after she goes missing.

AYE! That confession is in my list of best confessions on Indian tv ever list (actually, I don't even have such a list but I meant to stress a point here 😆) But yeah, I couldn't think of a better reference to explain my point because saying romantic love somehow wasn't seeming sufficient anymore. 😆 Oh, you made a similar point already, I saw it just now. NO, RIGHT? Something about Samay cheating on Maya doesn't fit in here. 🤔

OH, AMY WAS A LOT OF THINGS. 🤬 The names I'd call her but I can't because of the reasons I already stated. Boy, she was a horror in flesh and bone. EXACTLY, right! She didn't go gone in the head only after Nick's philandering ways came into light. She had previously falsely accused and framed people of things they never did and things, in fact, she herself did. She seemed like a psychopath by birth. Also, makes sense because of everything Rida shared with us on the how psychopaths come into being, they're known to be born with this disorder and rarely ever develop it during their lifetime.

As for Nick and Amy's relationship, it was based on very wrong foundation (just like Arjun and Maya's). Amy wanted to engineer Nick into becoming a man she wanted him to be (it's not about compromising or changing for the better here, it's forced transformation of someone to a point where the person wouldn't be himself anymore) and Nick just fell for all the glamour and the riches. They both just dived into it with a quite screwed up sense of relationships/marriage and it was bound to go wrong. Engineered relationships don't work and don't last the test of time. Not justifying or even explaining Nick's affair here at all but Amy made him feel caged, suffocated and controlled for years, it was a given that he'd look go around looking for space and air outside of his home.

WOAH! That's some review😆

I only liked GG for the thrill factor. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the movie. I didn't root for any of the characters but in the end, I was happy to see the whining Margo crying a river over Nick's twisted fate. The black comedic climax won me over😆. Nick was a bland character anyway and the only person interesting in the whole movie was Amy who's just a spoilt, over-entitled brat turned psychopath. You're supposed to watch such movies dispassionately and for fun instead of wanting to imbibea take-home message IMO.

If you want to watch shows involving psychopaths who you can relate to at a spiritual level, watch Dexter. It's one of the best shows ever made. ⭐️

It's not like I was disturbed on a breakdown sorta level but it's obvious that anything you watch or read, it stays and lingers on your mind for a while. And if it happens to be something like GG, it stays on your mind for longer and strongly so. In all those aspects, the writing, the direction, the pace, the thrill factor and everything, it makes up for great stuff but that's not what I'm taking about here. It's just that I wanted either of the two things to happen a) Nick manages to escape that life b) Amy eternally suffers because as realistic or as impactful or as moving and thought provoking it may have been, it does leave you with an unsettled feeling because no one should be allowed to get away with all that Amy had done. Oh, the only message I took from it was what a crucial role media plays and how media shouldn't be taken as the voice of reason or truth to a 100%. So, no worries there. 😆

Why would I want to be able to relate to psychopaths? 😳😆 But yeah, have heard of Dexter a lot. Might give it a try sometime.

Annihilation - I agree. Even I think I read somewhere that people are born with such disorders. Amy hardly had any terrible past. Yes she couldn't live upto the expectations of her parents but that's not the end of the world. She's exactly like a psychopath should be - extremely charming and highly intelligent. Any man would have died to have her unless they got to know who she exactly was.

I like Maya too as a psycho character but she's a lot more Indianized version. The terrible childhood was chipped in to have sympathy for her. They never wanted to promote her as an out and out black vamp. I don't think teh CVs can afford a balck character like Amy on prime time Indian show. On the other hand Amy gave no reason to feel anything for her, for how cruel she was but you would still see people cheering on her. Well, that's the power of a well written and well enacted character! That's why Maya is drab at times unlike Amy who is full of surprises. I don't hate Amy, the fictional character. She's definitely someone I will detest in my real life. But as a fan of thriller genre, she's one of the best written characters ever!

On Arjun - yes I agree that he's too bhola bhala to pull off a Nick but I am pretty sure his character is inspired from Nick only. But he too is Indianized and tamed down a lot.
