My parents are leaving for Mysore tomorrow. There is a wedding in the family. I get to be all alone until the 17th! 🥳 There is no emoticon for jumping around with joy!
I know I sound like a prisoner who has suddenly got freedom! But it is not that...I have never been all alone in my own house in Bombay. I have travelled alone, lived alone etc. but never in my own house. Looking forward to it. 😃

Heema, I don't know if you liked him much, but Shashi Kapoor is no more I've spent some time in Prithvi Theatre. He used to come and watch some shows. Have seen him up close and truth be told, was a fan of a select few of his movies. Basically, the ones he produced.

Signing out now. See you tomorrow or on Wednesday.

"When in Rome, do as the Romans do" means that when you are visiting a new place, follow local customs and act as people acting in that place. However, this proverb sometimes can be a really bad idea. When you are faced with a new tradition in a new place, you have to think before doing as the Romans do. In making this decision, three main considerations are important: etiquette consideration, practical consideration, and ethical consideration. First, etiquette considerations are little rules that are not worth to worry about like keeping both hands on the table -or otherwise in sight - as a sign of politeness when you are in Germany. Why? That is the rule. In this case, just follow the custom and roll on with your life. But when you are faced with a practical tradition such as the south Asian custom of eating with hands, think about how your act will affect you and people around and what is the fallout of your behavior? Your decision depends on the particular group of people you are socializing with. Finally, never follow customs that you find them ethically wrong. For example, if you religiously or healthily believe of not drinking alcohol, never drink it wherever you are and whoever serves it to you, even it might be rude or your hosts will get upset at your impoliteness. Though "When in Rome, do as the Romans do" is a good proverb in few cases,: so "If you're trying your best to be polite, to take into consideration the feelings of those around you, while also sticking to your ethical principles, then no one who has manners themselves should fault you".

I agree. If there is no ethics, there is no point in following it.👍🏼

Hugs for everyone! 🤗 🤗 🤗 🤗

Waited till I had recovered completely before coming round. Had I come earlier, I would have disappeared again. Back for good now.

All bones back in shape. Arms and legs back in action...back to normal now. Resuming work from Monday, so expecting a pile of pending stuff to greet me (even though I had gone for meetings with my arm in a cast).

I really missed this place! Not joking...

🤗 kannan di, welcome back.

We really missed you a lot. Glad that you are recovering. Still for some time period, don't take more stress and work less.

🤗

This is my grouse. Or maybe you can call it my dilemma. We need to keep talent here but then people run away for better opportunities. If everyone goes abroad, how will things get better here?

Don't get me wrong, Heema. People have a right to choose. Every single cousin of mine is in the US. They are doing very well and have met with success that they would not have found here. But if everyone who can make a difference leaves, how will things improve here?

@ Heema di.. I too feel the same.

The root is Indian, but fruits belong to outsiders. Many study from here and plan to go for higher studies or job to abroad, but never returns back. If all talent goes out, how will our country develop. 😭

Work less is hardly going to happen. Quite a bit of work has suffered. According to my office, my off days due to accident were considered "leave". Contractors anyway do not have any leave policy. So, November was a month of loss for me. Did not earn anything and went ahead and spent on doctors and hospitals!

If this is how contractors are treated, I wonder how employees are treated!

A very close family friend's son. Our families have been friends since my grandfather's time. The marriage venue was the Lalit Mahal palace 😲 For that reason alone, I should have gone, but could not make it because of work. Already, I have missed office for more than two weeks.

You have relatives in Mysore? The royal family recently had an heir. 😃 Of course, he does not belong to the bloodline and the curse has had its effect. But baby news is happy news 😃

What a time to have exams! If that had not been there, you could have had a really long break! We have only December 25 off and December 31. No other holidays. We're an indian company that celebrates Diwali and not Christmas!

Madikere 😃 enjoy the beauty of the place. How hot is it during summers? Can we visit during the summer holidays?
