Waiting for Amazon prime original show Mirzapur. The promo is good.

Initially I wasn't looking forward to Crown season 3 because of the replacement of original cast also because of the focus on the teenaged Charles and Camilla Parker romance. But after I heard that Tobias Menzies is playing Philip I can't wait for season 3.😆

Akshaye Khanna is probably a laid back man.I watched a portion of Sridevi's movie Mom. He is quite good in that role.

Same here, thanks to Netflix and Prime 😆 I am watching all new movies. I am off ITV totally, find everything so unnatural and exaggerated.

I watched MOM as well, it was a good movie. Acting by all was good and the story was pretty crisp.

Agree on Saif and Omkara, that was the role when people started taking him seriously I think. Otherwise all this roles were 2nd hero types.

Hi all😊
It's been a long time.
I guess we have become infrequent visitors to this forum since most of us are not so much into Indian TV anymore.
I binge watched Mirzapur last week.It is not so great but it wasn't as bad as most of the reviewers felt.
I think the performances made all the difference which were much better than the writing. Not sure if they are going to come up with a second season or not.

I really wish our writers and movie makers take advantage of digital space and come up with different subjects like hospital based dramas legal dramas or even cop dramas told from Indian context instead of just taking advantage of lack of censorship and incorporating a whole lot of sex and violence filled scenes🥱

Orange is the new black is the other show which I find very engrossing.Writing and performances are really topnotch.No wonder it has become such a big hit.Everyday I watch an episode or two of this show.

Other than that I wait every week for a new episode from my current favourite show Outlander.The last time I looked forward to every new episode like this was during Anandi Shiv phase of Balika Vadhu.😆The lead couple of Outlander remind me so much of Anandi and Shiv. Like the way the lead couple stand up against the 18th century colonial powers and fight for the rights of Native Americans and the Blacks around the time of the Birth of United States of America. May be this aspect reminds me of the lead couple reminds me of Anandi and Shiv.
Outlander book series are really good too. Very well researched historical and science fiction drama with lot of romance and interesting characters.I wouldn't recommend the book series to anyone though because they are so so looong😆

It will take another content based show like BV for me to return to Indian TV. I know that will not happen because as long as Rashmi Sharma and Ekta Kapoor products rule the TRP charts no so called top channel will ever experiment with content.
Anyways I am glad I found other avenues for entertainment and not dependent on TV anymore.

Right now on House of cards..on Season 2. I dont even know how to explain it..its such a thrilling, dark and "almost true to real life" take on the American politics and the happenings within the White House. So very consuming and yet so very addictive!
Kevin Spacey is some other level in terms of performance..I condemn his actions in real life for sure..and it was poetic justice that he got thrown out of this show..but seriously one cant help but gawk in awe at how smoothly does he get into the skin of a political maverick slash ruthless leader to the top, packing down the house of cards one by one..like a domino efffect..You hate/ cringe/ feel disgusted at Frank underwood one minute and next minute are still intimidated and want to know what his next move will be😲😲

so as Claire..the actress playing his wife is again class personified. She is the perfect match to Frank, with her feminine touch and manipulative mind and very intriguing personality..she becomes the Madam president after Kevin has to exit the show..brilliant choice I SAY!

++++++++++++++

Ive been watching Devlok by Devdutt Patnaik, Shark Tank and Ask your doctor as well on Netflix..thats more of those shows that my husband and I unwind to after long day of work..since he is heavily into non-fiction/ semi-documentaries than fictional shows

+++++++++++++++++
We started watching Zee5 digital shows as well..Table No 5 is a short series with 7 episodics each run time of 10 minutes and all are amusing yet spooky stories..directed by Amar Kaushik..(director of Stree)..three I have watched sofar are absolutely brilliant!👏👏👏

++++++++++++++++++++++
Mirzapur did not do very well, because it almost was a wannabe Sacred games for Amazon Prime ..the violence for the most part seemed senseless and baseless..

House of Cards is on My List as well. Will start it soon.
Any recos for a historical drama like The Crown ?

I love Shark tank, the banter between the panel members is nice to watch 😆 though all lines are scripted.

We are watching The Final Table these days, competition between chefs. Nice concept, Indian cuisine is next. I think the one we are watching is quite old.

I started on House of cards a while ago. But still on Season 1 Epi 1😛😆
I have to find a way to watch that show.

My friends are watching Designated survivor.They find it very engrossing.
Apart from that "Anne with an E' is good too. I watched a few episodes. It's nice feel good period piece told from the perspective of an orphaned little girl.

Sacred games is something I haven't watched so can't talk about it.I may watch it at some point.
Indian makers are not making use of the advantages that the digital medium offers.

I watched Final table episode that featured Indian cuisine.I intend to watch the other episodes too.It's quite entertaining. Planning to watch all the episodes.

Outlaw king is a good historical drama about 14th century Scotland and England. I watched some of it.

Outlander is another historical fiction that deals with darker side of British History Colonial rule in North America as well as the birth of United states of America told through the eyes of 20th century woman and 18th century Scottish warrior.

Not really Appy, SRK's PH is jumping into producing stuff for Netflix which stars Emraan Hashmi, so as PC's PH producing something too😆. Also Alia and Aamir are rumoured to star in Osho-Maa Sheela series for Netflix too..(lets see if it actually materializes)..if big stars are ready to foray into digital platform, its going to open it up and explode..also the Sivagami series
They tested waters with Sacred Games and Lust Stories and both seemed to have done pretty well..

Also Ekta probably produces better stuff through her digital platform than she does for TV..heard good things about Rajeev-Surveen show of hers so as one new show on dysfunctional family..though she had lot of shitty stuff on Alt Balaji too..I mean old habits die hard🤣 anyway I am glad there is Guls and Rashmis there yet🤢

I watched one episode of lust stories and realised that it's not my cup of chai. I don't mind watching bold scenes or stories with bold content but I can't sit through stories which just revolve around one emotion namely lust.
Sacred games is on my list though I don't know when I get around watching it😆

Ekta Kapoor single handedly ruined TV viewing experience with her Saas Bahu daily soaps which went on for years and years and now people are unable to switch to limited episode formats which existed before K maiyya's shows arrived on the scene. For that reason alone I can never support EK's endeavours.
All thanks to the pressure of making their show run long the makers dilute their stories,change tracks introduce leaps and the worst of all generation leaps and re incarnation🤢

If the characters become popular why not take season breaks and return say after 3 months break and then run again for a few months?
-------
But for now I am satisfied with what I am watching on digital platform though.
In school when we had history lessons on the discovery of American continent and subsequent colonisation and birth of USA and Canada I used to wonder what happened to all the people who lived there before all these European nations colonised that part of the world. We had detailed lessons about our own Country and China and the effects of colonisation on these two countries. Now all thanks to the shows that I'm watching I am getting my answers while being entertained.

I always wished for decent historical fiction series set in our country.Hope Sivagami series lives upto my expectations. Anand Neelakantan said in Twitter that his second book on Bahubali prequel series will come out along with the web series.
