watched the movie again last Sunday and now I am obsessed! when I saw it first time, I was disappointed, because the action sequences did not match up to my expectations..but then a second viewing and the reviews here, helped me understand that this movie had so many dynamics, powerful moments and changing landscape of some extremely potent relationships..it wasnt so much about graphics/ VFX/ the grandeur/ action choreography - which ofcourse aided to its maxim, as much as the plot itself was very very well written and powerfully presented..
the story is tastefully explained and so many significant nuances!
++++++++++++++++
The opening sequence with pan graphic shots of important parts of Part 1 was such a brilliant brilliant way of recapping! deserves a special applause just for that..plus the song Shivam is UH-MAZING! cant stop listening to it! The beats just add such a larger than life aura to the whole setting <3
Watching Shivgami-Amarendra bonding in the start is so heartwarming and heartbreaking on so many levels! absolutely oxymoronic! the latter half of Bahubali the beginning coupled with opening sequence of this movie..and damn the feels! such a pure, beautiful and potent bond than Shivgami-Amarendra's! It hurts so so bad, how things go down hill..:'(
have to give credit for the light moments between Katappa and Bahubali..it took me second viewing to realize how cute were they together! 😭😭😭 Katappa playing wingman was aww!😆
Amarendra-Devsena lovestory was so beautiful..while they may have been inspired from Mahabharat/ Ramayan..and with no offense to the epics..theirs will definitely go down as one of my favourite lovestories to grace the celluloid..read some good discussions on BW forum around their relationship👏👏. The respect, dignity and distinguished sense of right from wrong is what made it so special and stand out..Prabhas and Anushka were just class apart! Even that super wierd boat song works because it has them! Amar-Devsena were absolutely ethereal!
who else loved the scene where Bhallal places his hand on Bijjalla, waiting to release it at the absolute right time..when the courtroom showdown happened? it was so spot on and effective..the way things tumbled down lack a pack of cards..and one after the other, unfortunate events happened!
I enjoyed the bits where Amar and Devsena mingle with Mahishmati crowd and become their forest king/ queen kinds..<3 Rajamouli feeded the exact proportion required for their lovestory..he did not go overboard or underplay it..the exact right!
The Kalakeya clan attacked Amarendra B, because Bhallal joined hands with them? their attack seemed out of place unless they were called upon by Bhallal?
what made the biggest difference was that the movie rose above the big question - Why Katappa killed Bahubali! the amount of expectations and anticipation around it could have only lead to disappointment, but it is the success of vision, plot, screenplay and brilliant brilliant performance and direction that made all the difference..Not a single person curses Katappa - but understands what happened and why did the gruesome but unfortunate deed happen..I havent seen a single negative reaction to the final reveal..that makes one realize that Rajamouli made something so special that it worked in entirety!
Shivgami's redemption! Oh mahn, her guilt, those moments where she finally realizes her sin..that got the tears to my eyes like nothing else..
and poetic justice was rendered the way Devsena did the agni prasthaan towards the end walking over the beheaded golden head of Bhallal! Absolutely fantastic! Devsena's characterization deserves pages worth of praises and analysis!
another small but effective moment was Katappa finally throwing across the sword to Mahendra to kill Bhallal! it came a full circle!
that stupid coconut tree basket thing was wierd on some other level..but in the climax sequence..I loved the bit where Mahendra dabs shivbhutti on his wounds..and beats Bhallal with the chains of Devsena - cinematic genius moment!
and finally the head of Bhallal tumbling down and submerged in the Jivanadi! masterstroke!
A movie like this is a once in a lifetime experience!
JUST WOW!
