The only one that surprised me is Mohabbatein. It's at no 6. I don't like it much but I don't think it's that bad.

Except HTHS I haven't watched any of those 4. Tried to watch Devdas but that's not my cup of tea. I enjoyed reading the novel but this kind of film doesn't attract me.

In Bollywood, for a long time, women in their 30s were considered past their prime and weren't offered the best roles. That is, of course, well in the past, with actresses like Kajol and Kareena Kapoor breaking this mould and doing some of their best roles at later points of their career. And now we have Waluscha de Sousa, who played SRK's wife in Fan, making her debut at the age of 33. On the sidelines of the convocation of International Institute for Fashion Design, Chennai, the model-turned-actress speaks about the experience, the shift from modelling to acting, her fidgety' nature as a student and of course, SRK. Excerpts:..

How did you bag the role?

I happened to meet my casting director Shanu Sharma for coffee, and she spoke to me for about five minutes and said she had a role I might fit in. She got me to meet the director Maneesh Sharma. Of course, I had no idea it was a YRF film, or that it was a Shah Rukh Khan starrer. So I just met Maneesh and we got chatting and he offered me the role. It was sort of meant to happen and I just keep telling myself that I got very lucky.

What was it like working in your first film?

It was a set where there are 400 odd people, a camera pointing straight at you and people who've been in the business for a very long time. Of course, I was very nervous.

How was Shah Rukh Khan?

The minute I got on to the set, Shah Rukh made me feel relaxed. It was an educational experience. We all know he's very passionate about the craft, and works really very hard.

What were you like as a student?

I was a very creative student, whether it was acting, dancing, singing, sport or art. You could very rarely see me in a classroom; I was always very fidgety from very early on.

You were a model before, what do you enjoy more, modelling or acting?

There was a point when I enjoyed modelling, and today I'm in a space where I completely enjoy acting. I love where I am right now and I love everything about it - the whole process of being on the set, the film getting edited and everything else.

Is the modelling industry a nice place to work?

Sure it is, if that's what you are passionate about and it really drives you, because it is a lot of work. You need to look after your body, eat right, work out, stay in shape. It's a responsibility - trying to wear someone's garment and make it come alive on the ramp.

Your favourite director?

It has to be Sanjay Leela Bhansali, I have watched all his films and I think I have watched Devdas about 15 times already.

Modelling Days

Waluscha modeled for leading designers in the country and took part in the Miss India Pageant where she secured the Miss Body Beautiful' title. She did her first TV commercial for Pepsi with Shah Rukh Khan at the age of 17

Thulasi who started her career as a child artiste in Sankarabharanam, went on to act with the likes of Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan and Karthik. The talented actress, who quit acting post her wedding, returned to the big screen a few years later as she gave her nod for a mother role in Kannada film Excuse Me, which was a big hit. Ever since, she has become a sought after maternal figure in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.

Recently, she had a surprise visitor on the sets of Brahmo tsavam, in which, she essays the mother of Kajal Agarwal. And the visitor was none other than Shah Rukh Khan, who gave a pleasant shock to those who were working on the sets.

Close sources said he was heaping laurels on Thulasi's performance and even took a selfie with the Pannayaarum Padminiyum actress.

SRK-Aditya ki Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi once again?

For all those fans of the Badshah of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan, who were under the impression that SRK has no films on hand after RAEES , there is good news that will certainly cheer all up and calls for rejoicing.

ADITYA CHOPRA AND SHAH RUKH KHAN

ADITYA CHOPRA AND SHAH RUKH KHAN

Yes, as can be gauged from our headline, SRK and Aditya Chopra, under whose direction Shah Rukh gave some of his most memorable super hits like DILWALE DULAHANIA LE JAAYEINGE, MOHABBATEIN and RAB NE BANA DI JODI. Are set work together again.

Sources say that Aditya has a story in mind and that he has approached SRK and asked him to keep dates for a project which they will start working on, after he finishes BEFIKRE starring Ranveer Singh. In fact, reportedly Aditya spoke to SRK around 6-7 months before starting work on BEFIKRE.

Sources also say that Shah Rukh has confirmed that Aditya spoke to him about a project in the pipelines but has not really related the story to him. SRK further stated that it will be a beautiful and grand film and that they will complete the shooting in three months (sometimes in 2017) but before that Shah Rukh will have to give at least two months to work out the script sessions and modalities.

Well, for all of us who are disappointed with the outcome of his previous two ventures, DILWALE and FAN, here is hoping that this project materializes and that King Khan is back on his throne once again.

And before we leave, despite our best efforts we were unable to get a response from YRF, about the above development.
