Just read through some of the comments and I totally agree with Archana as well as Tasfia.
Although Dry Dreams garnered good amount of appreciation from people, it was so un-Sobti kind.
I mean, that guy deserves so much better, with the amount of skills he has and calibre he possesses.
Coming to MAMR, I don't even want to start on that. I haven't watched the movie, deliberately, as the trailer itself was enough to earn a no-no for me.
As much as I support him for his decisions and don't let my rationale take a backseat like many on this forum when it comes to him pursuing Bollywood, leaving TV, I can't deny that it was really really a bad idea on his part to choose such a movie for his big screen debut.
I agree that some characters just make you an epitome of success in the industry, and for Barun, that was ASR, and as much as I love to relive the moments seeing him play that flawlessly, I also admit that one cannot just do the same thing.
When he reasoned while quitting IPK that the daily soap routine was taking a toll on his health, I considered it a good enough reason for his decision, but to even think for a moment that something like MAMR could ever outdo the power and magic that ASR created, is pretty frivolous IMO.
When long back Rajeev Khandelwal created ripples of appreciation for playing Sujal Grewal in Ekta camp, people were way too disappointed when he quit the show. He too tried to make it big in Bollywood, but the attempt wasn't as fruitful as he wanted it to be. Although just like Barun, he too was critically acclaimed for his debut performance.
Later, he played substantial roles on TV again, such as Captain Rajveer in Left Right Left (which had San in a supporting role) and then recently, Reporters on SONY, which was again widely appreciated.
So he did break away from the image of his famous character of Sujal.
I'm hoping the same for Barun. All I want him to do is be really careful with what he picks, regardless of the mediums, because although he knows, he still doesn't know the amount of craze he has for a fandom that is all so GLOBAL. 😆 😳
