and if Barun getting bashed bothers you then be assured Barun Sobti doesnt give a damn... i have this huge doubt he even checks his Twitter lol... and if bashing or the fear of failure had any effect on him he would be doing a papa role or some random throw catch fall shows and not sit for three years. so a thing that doesnt bother him rather just shows the mentality of people shouldn't bother you too :))
well thats it I guess lol...

@bold- Standing ovation, that deserves. I mean, his career choices-read, MAMR, Dry Dreams, etc- are shit but the guy absolutely doesn't care for haters. He is almost always surprised that people still love him & looking forward to watching him act because he doesn't expect it. Enjoys it, is grateful for it, but doesn't let it rule his life. And, lol. I don't think he checks Twitter, either. It was a stupid move when he joined it. Seemed like something he was pressured into by MAMR team to help promote the movie.

Actually, this applies to Sanaya, too. She simply doesn't give a crap about haters. And, yes, like any other popular actor, she has her share of haters. I remember her saying, she will take all the positive & ignore all the negative, & that is how she works, I suppose.

^^I agree Archana that he is always surprised with the fan following...shows that he works for his own satisfaction not to gain popularity or appreciation. but he respects what he gets.

about his career choices I have been very disappointed with his choices at a point..I also feel in some cases his luck was not in his favor but thats where I appreciate him that despite that he stayed firm on his groud... its good not to do anything than doing crappy work. dry dreams was the biggest mistake. but having said that I feel he has right to make mistakes and learn from them.. hopefully.

actually no actor gives a shit about the so called haters lol...because if they start paying attention to these things they will never be able to work.. you and I also have people around us who thinks our career choice... or our behavior or our way of achieving things is wrong and they wait to see us fail... its a part of our life i think.. just that actor has that part more open..

I am just hoping to see a fresh and hot looking Sobti in turkey trip.. just like Dubai trip.. if possible better than that..lets just pray he doesnt show up with one of his famous weird looks. and a confirmation about the show will be cherry on the top :)

I will be the first in line to send a virtual smack to that pretty head if he doesn't groom for the Turkey trip.
You were? I still am.
I watched Dry Dreams & I remember, a friend & I, who can usually casually criticise the shit he does were just sad. Because that was a dumb project, if you can even call it that. To see an actor of his calibre doing it was just depressing.
MAMR was a trainwreck. I watched it. Reviewed it for the above mentioned friend who couldn't watch it as she was busy with exams & mine had just got over & someone finally gave me the download link, & I just erased it from memory after that. How does one even talk about a movie that isn't worth a sentence! Sobti deserved a better debut. If only he had waited for that to happen...
But one must wonder. It has been 3yrs. Surprisingly, it has not been a case of out of sight is out of mind for him. Sort of hints at how amazingly engaging he was in IPK as ASR that people just decided to stick it out.

how do we send virtual smack Archana... because he needs many of them... lol so if you really know a way tell me... because he remains royally unaware of the frustrations he causes with his I-Dont-Give-A-Damn-About-How-I-Look-Because-I-Just-Dont-Care attitude regarding his look.

dry dreams is a project that makes me sad that I am not Ghajini and I am not blessed enough to forget what I watched... what was that supposed to be... there was a friend of mine who dont know how got that link and watched it... and she still makes me feel like a criminal and it upsets me with her.. Thats Your Sobti? looks. I have not even fully watched what he did there TBH... and tell you the truth I have not watched MAMR too... because like I always say I can not torture myself.. but yes I did saw Sobti scenes.. all I have to say he deserved better.

I agree about him being somehow present in the frame of my mind... but I feel that this is the right time to come back and break his ASR image because now people can accept him in another character and he shouldn't delay anymore as time might just make people forget BS...though they may remember ASR

Ah. I don't know. I think, ASR is iconic. And, a lot of that is because of Sobti. I don't think people would forget him that easily. But yeah, may get disappointed & move on. Which is why I am glad he is finally returning to TV. I miss watching him act. Miss it so much especially when I watch IPK on Hotstar. He is just so good & not a part of that acting skill is reaching the audience. That is just not done. So, yes. I hope this new show is really, really worth the wait.
How to send a virtual smack? Close your eyes, real tight, focus, think up the image of Sobti in his hobo avatar & imagine smacking him upside the head. It will reach the target...
Hehe. Ignore my random rambling. I am tired & sleepy.

Hello ladies, I seem to be missing all the fun! but keep it coming, I had no idea about Sobti doing any dry dreams? lol that doesn't even sound right😆 I wish he hadn't stopped working on tv and should have waited for the right project to come along his way. I remember when IPK was on the air, so was Fawad Khan's Humsafar.. I used to watch IPK during week days and Humsafar used to come on Saturdays, so it was splendid for all 6 days. Anyway, just comparing Fawad Khan's career graph with Barun's...Fawad got a fantastic break with Sonam Kapoor's Khoobsurat and now he is an A Lister in Bollywood, where as Barun is still struggling. (Though, I do think Fawad khan is a better actor than Barun, but they are both HOT) Even after IPK, he should have continued with television, just to get better offers and recognition with the right film-makers. I think Sushant Singh also kept working on TV, until he got a decent offer...he is doing way better in Bollywood than Barun. Hopefully him coming back on TV will get him some great projects to showcase his true talent. TV is by far the most strongest and effective medium to showcase your talent or rather to remain in the public eye.

Just read through some of the comments and I totally agree with Archana as well as Tasfia.
Although Dry Dreams garnered good amount of appreciation from people, it was so un-Sobti kind.
I mean, that guy deserves so much better, with the amount of skills he has and calibre he possesses.

Coming to MAMR, I don't even want to start on that. I haven't watched the movie, deliberately, as the trailer itself was enough to earn a no-no for me.
As much as I support him for his decisions and don't let my rationale take a backseat like many on this forum when it comes to him pursuing Bollywood, leaving TV, I can't deny that it was really really a bad idea on his part to choose such a movie for his big screen debut.

I agree that some characters just make you an epitome of success in the industry, and for Barun, that was ASR, and as much as I love to relive the moments seeing him play that flawlessly, I also admit that one cannot just do the same thing.
When he reasoned while quitting IPK that the daily soap routine was taking a toll on his health, I considered it a good enough reason for his decision, but to even think for a moment that something like MAMR could ever outdo the power and magic that ASR created, is pretty frivolous IMO.

When long back Rajeev Khandelwal created ripples of appreciation for playing Sujal Grewal in Ekta camp, people were way too disappointed when he quit the show. He too tried to make it big in Bollywood, but the attempt wasn't as fruitful as he wanted it to be. Although just like Barun, he too was critically acclaimed for his debut performance.
Later, he played substantial roles on TV again, such as Captain Rajveer in Left Right Left (which had San in a supporting role) and then recently, Reporters on SONY, which was again widely appreciated.
So he did break away from the image of his famous character of Sujal.

I'm hoping the same for Barun. All I want him to do is be really careful with what he picks, regardless of the mediums, because although he knows, he still doesn't know the amount of craze he has for a fandom that is all so GLOBAL. 😆 😳

Hence, I find Twitter to be such awesome fun. I do sometimes bump into rubbish tweets when I open IPK related links. But for the most part, my Twitter account is almost 90% free of IPK stuff. Which is frankly, the only way to not hate it.

Ananya- Goodnight. I hope you are extremely productive tomorrow.

Anu & Nisha- My God! There is someone who wrote a 311 chapters long FF which is ongoing? I have been trying to write a 5 part SS & even that feels like such a headache. I stand impressed. Ah. Had it been last year, I probably would have given it a shot. But I have sort of moved away from FFs in the sense that I am only following 2-3 ongoing ones which are almost ending. No new ones for me. I have finally deaddicted from them.

Yeah, its almost strange when u hear about it but for weird people like me and Anu, its nice! And i used to read like crazy too but stopped in the middle. Now some recommendations from you guys so FF craze is still ON.😆

I dont follow anything IPK related in my SNS accounts. 😳

^^ This was with Vikrant Massey and Krithika. It went viral and i was expecting some cool making as such but needless to say, Dry Dreams disappointed me. Unnecessary body show but apparently that was a dream of a lusty man.. or something along the line. But it was only a day's shoot they took over 4 months or so to release it on YT.

And my gyaan would be that, first choose a good film to take the plunge.. And building your work base.. like IPK got him couple of films and now his new Telly show i hope would open more doors.

And oh, its pretty unfair to compare FW with Barun cos hey, Pak stars are like an exotic thing for BW industry. Mawra, Mahira are all given big PHs to debut against. Mahira's work isnt even considered the best out there. So yeah.. Its about luck too!
