• Halloween is celebrated on the Eve of the Christian festival of All Hallow's day. It has its origins in the Celtic harvest festivals. It initiates the three day observance of Allhallowtide (remembrance of the departed souls, especially the saints) in a number of countries.
• According to Wiki, the true essence of the parties and other activities lay in the concept of defeating the grief and despair of death by means of laughter and merriment.
• The true essence of Halloween lies in defeating the advancing terror of departure for a world unknown to us by defying its deafening laughter by a firm denial of the idea of giving in.
• On this night, people visit the graveyards where their loved ones lay buried and light candles and bake soul cakes. They believe that the souls of the departed ones come to meet their relatives once a year. Candles are thus lit in every room, to guide the souls to their homes.
• Earlier, children used to go from house to house asking for treats of soul cakes or fruits. They often asked, "Trick or treat?" implying that they will make mischief and play tricks if they are not given treats. They also had a special song which they sang as they roamed around. Often the 'soulers' (Halloween singers) would be given soul cakes in returns for their prayers for the departed loved ones of the family.
• On these days, people often dress up like spirits or ghosts, in a more impolite way, and play tricks on each other. The Halloween activities include, apple-bobbing, making jack-o-lanterns, lighting bonfires, playing pranks, visiting haunted places, telling horror stories and watching horror films.

• Do we want more than 3 posts? If yes, what are you thinking?
• Ideas for entertainment section? Games? Activity? Comment on eachother's ideas to decide the final outcome.
• We also need volunteers. The second post on the first page has a list. Check and volunteer. It is always first-come-first-serve.!
• ColorCode Suggestions would be nice too. We can decide the tag-titles and the thread title when we have our ideas planned out.
