jugular vein - Bertie's Brexit
Jug Suraiya
An overheard conversation between Bertram Wooster and his valet, Jeeves

Bertie:

Dash it all, Jeeves, this Brexit is a bolshie business, what?

Jeeves:

Indeed, sir. Your assessment of the situation, while couched in the vernacular, is only too correct.

Bertie:

I've just heard from my pals Bingo Little and Oofy Prosser that the Drones Club might soon shut down. Can you believe that, Jeeves? The Drones shutting down? If that's not the end of civilisation as we know it, i don't know what is.

Jeeves:

Indeed, sir. As the poet Wordsworth once observed, "Men are we, and must grieve when even the shade Of that which once was great has passed away ."

Bertie:

Never mind the poet Wordsworth for the nonce, Jeeves. There is a time for the poet Wordsworth and a time not for the poet Wordsworth. The pressing business of the day is to find out why the Drones is closing. What do you think, Jeeves?
Jeeves:

My assumption, which i believe to be of verifiable certitude, is that the establishment in question will have to cease functioning as a gentleman's club for lack of infrastructural personnel.

Bertie:

Infra-wothcher, Jeeves? Jeeves:

Infrastructural personnel, sir. Such as the doorkeeper, hall porter, all the waiters, and the person who dispenses alcoholic and other beverages from behind the bar counter. All of them are East Europeans and as a consequence of Brexit they shall all leave and return to their native domains.

Bertie:

You don't say , Jeeves! Jeeves:

I fear i do, sir. And i regret that there is more news of a disturbing nature. Mrs Travers telephoned to say that her chef, Anatole, is also terminating his employment with her to go back to France, the land of his birth.

Bertie:

What? Good old Aunt Dahlia's Anatole God's gift to the gastric juices resigning? That's really one below the belt, Jeeves! Jeeves: I fear i too must hand in my notice, sir.

Bertie:

Hand in your notice? What on earth for, Jeeves?
Jeeves:

You see, sir, my name is not really Jeeves but Jevonski and after Brexit i'm going back to my home in Poland.

Brexit is indeed confusing. Lots of questions in my head. Will type them tomorrow.

Yes Gitey. You told me about the chakli and chivda. LOL. Check your previous posts. You were safer there when you said "the snacks were awesome" so no question of specifying that "the chalk and chewed were awesome" and getting into an argument with autocorrect 😆.

Nams, will reply to your PM tomorrow in peace. Niece going out for the day tomorrow.

Gitey, I'm super late in answering this but will answer anyways else my OCD won't let me sleep in peace :) RV did act in a Marathi film called Vrindavan which released last month but it didn't last for even a week. I saw a pic of him taking his Hindi telly world friends (Surbhi et al) for the movie.

Today is my day of late replies looks like 😆. Nams, in our convo the other day I forgot to mention. My fav seafood is crabs. We don't make them at home anymore as mum is getting old and the cleaning gets too tiresome. I'm highly allergic to them. My lips puff up and I look like Hanuman 😆. It's getting better as I'm growing older though. I make sure I carry my tablet if I'm eating them out. Nothing happens with mum's crabs though.

Good Morning gals!

Ohh RV's film came and went. I have got Sairat movie, just need to find time to watch it in peace. Waiting for school to begin.

KV and TJ are soon going to be parents. Hearty congrats to them.
KV, Shehzaad, both were doing some movie. When will it release, any idea?

Caught Ishqbaaz. Gul has gone all glossy and filmi and stuck to the standard big joint but disjointed family TRP formula. She may get the numbers, but I don't see anything new here. Everything seems like been there seen it.
They even had the youngest one recite a shaayari, a la ayaan style.
The female lead is again an orphan, in all probability does not know who her father is. Surbhi C was good, but the character seemed to be everywhere. The bromance was good. The only character who stood out was the artist guy - Omkara. Rest all is very predictable and very loud.

http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/sourav-ganguly-ravi-shastri-sanjay-manjrekar-bcci-india-coach-cricket/1/703689.html

Kumble must not have even got the appointment letter, and Ravi Shastri has begun his drama. He always has been a drama queen. Uff, cricket and its controversies.
Shastri was a highly overrated player and now he is overrating himself as a coach. Cant accept a No?

Kudos to Ganguly and Manjrekar for standing upto him.

^^Read the article in the papers today. Ravi Shastri sounds like a five year old whose lollypop got snatched 😆. Hi-5. Never liked him even as a cricketer. Too slow in making runs even though he never gave his wicket away easily. Even as a commentator he is too dramatic and loud. My fav Indian commentator is Harsha Bhogle inspite of the IPL controversy. Fantastic command over the English language and a good voice. Sanjay Manjrekar is not bad either.

Good Sourav gave RS back.

Gitey, I think the Rain Gods in Jaipur want you to dance instead of the peacocks 😳 😛 😆. Yet to read the Brexit article. Will read and comment later this evening.

Totally agree with you Nams. Penalty shootouts is the most unfair way of deciding the winner. Quite like the D/L method in cricket or the super over. While I still think the D/L method is unfair, I've kind of accepted the shootouts and the super over over the years. Tbh I was never too bothered about the super over but since I love football a lot more than cricket, the penalty shootouts were bothersome. But of course there can be only one winner and which other way but penalty shootouts. I always feel bad for the losing team no matter which team I support and always will. Imagine putting your heart and soul for an hour and a half and giving a tough fight and losing after coming so close to winning. That's why I always hope for a goal in ET1 or 2 in any knockout match so that the result is fair.

😆. Yayy. I read in the papers earlier this week about rains making an entry in the North on 1st July. Mumbai is going to have heavy rains all through the weekend and all of next week too. The water level in the lakes around here has still not risen though 😕. I'm happy for the farmers though and all those in various parts of Maharashtra who faced severe water shortage and drought.

Btw Gitey, did you read about the Sarabhai v/s Sarabhai reunion and the web series?
