K i saw BM and this is my review😆 posted this on BWF but added some more points here😆
+++++++++++++++++++

I love those movies which leave room for viewers to ponder over it by offering unanswered questions leading to opening up of gamut of interpretations and analysis...reason why Raanjhana and Highway lead my favourites list and I think BM is the next entrant in it😳

I liked how Bhansali did not make his characters over-glorified or idealistic (ofcourse thats a given when one watches an SLB movies, his characters are always far from being pitch perfect)..reason why Jodha Akbar absolutely failed to work with me, was spoonfeeding the audience that their love was eternal and highly sugary sweet..and super trivialization and simplication of things..there was no Ruqaiyya in it, there was no show of Akbar's tyranny and brutal nature..and Rajputs protested against this movie for a reason, Jodha was not exactly ever in love with Akbar (ofcourse this can be debated)

and this is exactly where SLB scores, he could have taken a safer route by allotting clear shades of black and white, instead he beautifully brought out the conflicts, complication and emotions of the flawed characters (and yes he focused on internalized emotions this time more than just opulence and grandeur) where one ends up feeling for all the three characters..atleast I did!

Music- honestly when the audio came out, it just did not click with me, but I loved them in the movie❤️ so much..except for Pinga's placement (in my mind Ive just taken it to be Mastani's dream or something - coz IDK how can Mastani just dance like that/ was allowed to come in Shaniwaar wada, all sundry and happy, after being hated on so much there😆), the remaining songs dint overpower the narrative and went in flow with the movie IMO - even Malhari - I mean Bajirao was no suave..classy prince, he was a warrior, brutal and unapologetic and with a very raw rustic appeal..so me liked the impromptu dance he was shown to break into😳😳

Mastani - I disliked her for first half or so, but after that her character started growing on me..just the way she did on Bajirao..IDK how to explain, but she was all heart! I think it was implied, that being blessed with divine beauty, she may have had many suitors asking for her hand, but she rejected them all only to finally find that one man who with one encounter itself had pierced straight into her soul..and considering we are talking of girls of a particular era, where marriage of any form (here through dagger - which btw was amazing symbolism of how their relationship would be) meant a call of destiny and union for life..I understand where she came from..

I would have liked some more scenes between BM as well..but I think SLB is smart to leave a lot to our imagination..

needless to say Kashi-Rau scenes were EVERYTHING and painfully beautiful...and ohhh the parting scene between the two ! 😭😭😭

Ranveer, Priyanka and Tanvi Azmi were absolute show stealers! hope they sweep all awards in this season!

I dislike DP, but TBH I think she did a good job, considering I found her dry in everything from teaser to trailer to songs..but she was a revelation in the movie and was particularly brilliant in the fight scenes! Mastani the mother was fantastic...also I just cannot get over Gajanana song video..the way Ranveer-PC-DP act/ emote here! ^_^

and lastly..BM has nothing on bahubali, if the genre of historical fiction is to be compared..Bahubali excels far above and tall on narrative and overall presentation scale and appeal..but BM is definitely far more complex, dark and internalized,..

Raving done :)

HIral 😊 - Your review is a good read 👍🏼

Somehow - I feel that both Maniratnam and SLB - were good at portraying human emotions and relationships - and then they started losing this USP once their canvas started getting bigger IMO - Maniratnam's early movies like Mouna raagam - then his movie about the child adopted from war torn Lanka, Dalapathi, Alaipaayuthey were just brilliant.. SLB - I was very impressed with his very early movie Khamoshi - Manisha, Nana Patekar - moving portrayal..Liked his Hum Dil de chuke sanam - but after that everything started going downhill unfortunately!!

Just saw on panchiland - ceo of Rangeela trending!!! Is there any fallout between Kapil and Colors??

Hiral awesome indepth review.
I absolutely loved the movie...it was poetry on celluloid with brilliant cinematography, Beautiful visuals, lovely costumes, Gorgeous cast who could act. Story hmmm maynot be historically correct but then I had gone to watch a period drama & I came back satisfied as it was wonderfully presented.
Just thought that last 20 minutes was more Devdas than BM. Except that rest everything was mindblowing.

I liked it better than Devdas. I think after Parineeta this is my next favorite. And yes, I'll be going for repeats hehehhehe
Anybody wants to watch come join me :)

Thank u😳 and I agree with that too..either they lose their inspiration, or dry up on creativity in long run..Raavan/ Kadal from Mani and Saawariya/ Guzaarish from SLB for example were extremely superficial and stale..

I feel both are returning back to their form somewhat, ofcourse they wouldnt be able to top their geniuses of past..but atleast are trying to brush up their creativity..

on Mani - yet to watch Mouna Raagam and Dalapathi😲 - will add them in to be watched list😳😳😳 ❤️
