Anyone up for a MB discussion again.
Does anyone feel that polyandry was exploitative in case of Draupadi?I mean she was forced to accept 5 husbands instead of just Arjun, okay not forced but cajoled. And then she had to spend 1 year with each in turn and everyday her virginity was restored. But the other Pandavas who all had 3-4 wives chose when they wanted to spend time with them.

Actually it was Kunti who was behind this game, I feel. She could have taken her words back, but NOOO! 🤢@bold - that is where it hurts me. She was asked to spend 1 year with each in a pattern. But they could live with any of their wives!😡Ploygamy is worse than ployandary!🤢
Yes, that is why I said she did not her words back. Kunti knew that it was Draupadi's beauty which appealed to all her sons. But I actually don't like the fact. Even if she would have caused a rift between them, was it bigger than a woman's dignity. And then at the end, she was blamed for Kurukshetra war. I ask why?Not really Angela. Kunti saved her children.
Raja Dhrupad wanted a son to kill Drona. Thus, Yagna was important. But No one will dare to go against Hastinapur provided it was protected by Bhisma who was literally invincible. Thus, Shikandi was bornAnd last of it was Draupad who was suppose to create rift in the Kuru vansh with her beauty. Kunti in her subconcious mind saved her children. Had she not done it the Pandavas might have fought among themselves over this beautiful woman. Also, Draupadi asked for it.

Draupadi was blamed because she insulted Duryodhan. . Besides, it was Draupadi who was blessed to have 5 husbands. Kunti was as they say' nimit matra' whose words remain as the final verdict. Just like Rama was to have the vanvas as per the curse but people still blame Manthara and Kaikeyi for that.Originally posted by: Angela_Grokes

Even of MB didn't actually happen, I don't mind it! I am happy that it teaches us something strong. All the things in the story are relevant to this day.Originally posted by: severus1
Yes but that;s only when we look at the bigger picture. In hindsight we know that she unknowingly asked for 5 husbands or whatever.Makes me wonder if MB did indeed happen or it was a huge mythological construct to explain the way karma works . But then there is the archaeological evidence of Kurukshetra.
