Prats talks about the role of parents in bringing up a child but how a father was instrumental in not understanding his own child and caused his own kidnapping. This real life story happened last year in Madhya Pradesh( for your info, Mili lives in this state)
A father has two sons but is proud and encourages the normal son but is ashamed and discourages the child, Arjun, who has a mental disability and is slow but understands everything. Father is angry that wife has consulted a doctor for the child, thinks nothing can happen and does not encourage the child to eat with them even when he wants to and intimidates him through fear. His brother and mother are encouraging to him though. Father gets irritated that this son takes a lot of his wife's time and she does not have time for him and tells that children are meant to support their elders when they grow up but this child will be a burden to us and a blot on his brother too. He does not allow him to go to school and when his wife suggests sending him to a special school, he disagrees and for sometime poisons his other son against his brother saying if he touches you, you will fall ill. but the other son, after sometime, loves his brother again. Thereis a party of his boss' child and he reveals he has only one son and takes him to the party as he is ashamed of the other child. but a colleague comes home to take a file and sees his wife and Arjun and the father is very incensed and later when his wife protests, beats up his wife. She decides to leave him and go to Delhi to her mother's place. father is shocked and begs for forgiveness and asks for a new chance to prove himself. She trusts him and forgives but one day, the father kidnaps his own son and puts him in a state transport bus (with his favourite pillow and blanket without which he does not sleep) which could take him to any destination. The mother goes berserk in the morning looking for him and father too pretends looking for him and also calls the police. Mother then realises that the child has been kidnapped with his blanket and pillow and only the house inmates knew about his inability to sleep without these otherwise he would have got up, she goes and slaps her husband in front of the police for staging this drama. On police's beatings, the husband finally reveals that he put him in a bus but has no idea himself where the bus was headed to. Police makes inquiries of all those buses and finally a bus conductor reveals he saw and spoke to that child and found his pillow and blanket. Once the area is found out, they find out the child who is reported by a lady from a children's ashram whom the child mistakenly calls Mom but then retracts. Arjun is reunited with his family and the mother gives the house keys and a chain(called mangalsutra in India, made of black beads and gold, which is a sign of marriage women) to her husband saying she is leaving him. He begs forgiveness and says he is ready to accept them all but she says the problem here is not of you accepting us but we do not accept you, and they go away and lead a settled life ahead. Prats says the wife ensured that apart from divorce, her husband was punished and jailed.
