Monday, May 13, 2013, 23:15 IST | Place: Mumbai | Agency: PTI

Madhuri recently shot for an item song with Ranbir in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, slated for May 31 release.

Actor Ranbir Kapoor says he is so besotted with actress Madhuri Dixit that he cajoled his director Ayan Mukerji to let him kiss her on cheeks while she was shooting an item number with him for upcoming film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

Madhuri recently shot for an item song with Ranbir in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, slated for May 31 release.

"She (Madhuri) was my first love and my heart broke when she got married. I was happy when I got the opportunity to dance with her and see her," Ranbir said at a promotional event of the film.

In a candid confession, the actor said he had to "bribe" Ayan Mukerji in his own way to let him kiss the actress on her cheeks.

The item song Ghagra is choreographed by Farah Khan.

Heaping praises on the dhak dhak girl, Ranbir said, "She is sincere, passionate and talented. It was great working with her. She is wonderful."

Ranbir who visited the sets of dance reality show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa last year for promotion of his filmBarfi, did break into a jig with the actress.

Interestingly, Ranbir's father Rishi Kapoor had worked with Madhuri in various films.

Deepika, Ranbir Kalki and Aditya will be in Dubai on Thursday!

Dubai bound

(David Light (david@khaleejtimes.com)) / 13 May 2013

Both Ranbir and Deepika will travel for Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani promotions

RUMOURS WERE AWASH yesterday that Deepika Padukone had been grounded from the upcoming Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani promotional visit to Dubai this Thursday and that Ranbir Kapoor was contemplating also withdrawing, miffed at having to cover for his ex-girlfriend. Reportedly asked by the currently being filmed Chennai Express co-star Shah Rukh Khan to stay behind to complete shooting, Deepika was said to be reluctant to pull-out but was obliged to make good on her other ommitments.

The conjecture, however, was unfounded and both Ranbir and Deepika will be in town on Thursday, according to tour organiser Rashid Saeed, Managing Director Essar Events. Not only will the pair make various appearances around the city, but they will also be accompanied by fellow actors Kalki Koechlin and Aditya Roy Kapur.

"This is the first time Ranbir and Deepika will be in Dubai together and the first time they have been seen in a movie since their breakup," Rashid told City Times. "We are very excited to meet them and it's also a great chance to see Aditya, who has gained a lot of credit recently, along with Kalki."

Thursday's programme will include a trip to Oasis Centre on Sheikh Zayed Road at 7pm, followed by a meal at It's Indi restaurant in Jumeirah at 9pm. For further information on how to get up close and personal with the stars, call 050 346 6151 or 050 102 0876.

Now this is one little known fact which came across as a pleasant surprise. In the times when a single screening of an Indian film in a foreign land makes big news, Saif Ali Khan has managed something far more upbeat for a film of his. Cocktail, his biggest solo success till date that had released last year, has now managed to explore a Russian market for itself. In fact the film has been playing there for close to 50 days now and raking in good moolah.

With 18 days to go for the release of their next film, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, the youngsters who have sizzling screen chemistry, are gung-ho about the promotions of their film Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani (YJHD).

The duo is so popular with the youngsters that it was very difficult for the crew to shoot in many parts of India. In Udaipur and Manali, RK and Dippy were mobbed by hundreds of fans who had gathered to see them, making it impossible for them to get back to their cars. In Mumbai too, people were queuing up outside the set to catch a glimpse of them.

Ayan Mukerji, who is excited to be back with his second venture after Wake Up Sid!, has big expectations from YJHD. "It is a crazy time leading up to the film's release. One half of life is the madness of making sure all finishing touches are in place. The other half of me is excited and terrified. I have a lot of hope and expectations from this film and I'm also finding a connect with my audience through it. So, it's been a pretty crazy phase," the young director says.

Despite their crazy work schedules, Ranbir and Deepika are travelling to over 11 cities in the country and have a very hectic last 20 days ahead. But neither is complaining. In fact, they want to go all out and set a new benchmark in promotion and marketing.

Producer
Karan Johar is also taking a keen interest and is personally looking into the marketing aspects of the film.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, produced by Dharma productions, releases on May 31.

It is a well-known fact that Kapoors have enjoyed a long standing professional and personal relationship with the Russians. Now after Raj Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor, it is Ranbir Kapoor who would be taking the tradition forward. His upcoming film YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI is all set to see a major release in Russia.''That's true,'' informs our source, ''The film is carrying tremendous buzz and there is a huge market which is currently developing in Russia for Bollywood films.

Decades back it was Raj Kapoor's films that used to do really well there. Some time back Rishi Kapoor too was honoured by Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation for his exemplary contribution to cinema. Now Ranbir too has made inroads into the Russian market and YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI would be a major step in that direction.''

Unlike many Hindi films that just aim at the Indian Diaspora, the Karan Johar production would be actually reaching out to the local audience from Russia and other CIS countries.

Confirms Kumar Ahuja of Eros (who are releasing the film there), 'That's right, we are dubbing the film in Russian and other local languages. Ranbir is the youngest superstar around and we can foresee him being welcomed in this market with extended arms.''

The film's release there would be deferred by a few weeks to account for dubbing and pre-release promotion.

Meanwhile another major film of Ranbir, ROCKSTAR, too is readied for a release there. Though a year has gone by since it hit the Indian screens, apparently A.R. Rahman's music has caught up in a big way over the months, especially 'Sadda Haq'.

''For Ranbir, this is a great exposure into some unexplored market,'' says a filmmaker, ''His BARFI! has already released in Turkey and now with YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI and ROCKSTAR going to CIS, there is a lot to look forward to for him.''

And for the Kapoor family of course.
