Actually when DABH started, I had huge expectations of the show..when story was about illiterate husband trying to get his wife fulfil her desire of becoming IPS Officer.. But this story which had promised a lot slowly turned out to be once again a saas bahu drama..and nothing else..but I agree they have less editing glitches..and their drama factor is always high...though both leads talk with each other with jee jee only..😆..I think ChanChan will give this show a bit of competition..😊

all the things other PHs should pick tips about.

my MIL absolutely loves it...watches it religiously...doesn't move one bit...she also loved Kaali😲😕
SC...not yet as much...warming up I guess...I think somehow waterworks, funny sequences and a 'great' woman plus a simple storytelling appeals to most TRP audience. I'm glad she watches Star plus...because that's how I landed up in IPK land one day😳

Lovely Crooner base Priya. Quite a touching one. I am not the only one to say they wove magic when they did. It is the same feeling you get when you see the Mastercard ad: There are some things that money can't buy. For everything else, there's Mastercard.

Similarly, I guess everyone has a script, actors, costumes, directors, team and more. There is a story too. IPK too had all these. But what we got finally in those few months is just priceless. It has almost become a synonym for how we would want to envisage love. Like a brand identity for all things related to love.

I watch a whole of serials randomly even now. Nothing has yet moved me enough to want to run back to YouTube to watch again. I like bits and pieces of these but the same effect... not even close.

What makes it all the more intriguing is the friendship that they maintain offscreen and the entirely superior level they portray on screen. One would almost end up thinking they were in love for real! Amazing. I guess the true mark of actors is how well they can blend into their reel roles.

Well regarding acceptance of audience...you see this is situation where you cant really surely say..dabangg type movies set a trend and u see lot of similar stuff coming n also succeeding but at same time you have movies who experiment -movies like paan singh tomar, talaash, vicky donor..gang of wassepur..still doing good at box office and managing to make a mark ..Similarly for shows..I think when channels were less...there were better shows on TV..these days so many soaps normally again tryin saas bahu formula..n somewhere audience getting used to seeing such stuff...admist this all when a show like IPK comes, it was accepted even in TRPs that suggest ppl were open to see love story..which is main strong point..the point is you have to take risks..experiments with audience...if your promotion is good and you manage to grab audience attention...then it is how you sustain it thats important...IPK was at its best during wedding ..we were at no.2 position..sadly they cudnt hold on to storyline...they cudnt sustain interests of viewers..

Interesting discussion going here.

It is true that the majority of the audience like the DABH kind of shows and that's why such shows rule the roost on Indian TV. IPK comes only once in a blue moon and they had to ruin it before people could even begin to warm up to such unique ideas !

I think TV channels/producers should start taking a few risks here, who knows something might click and that could become the fad. People, well, we don't know what it will take for them to move out of those saas-bahu kind of stories 😊

I'm off to my hometown today, catch you all on the other side of this weekend ! Have fun discussing IPK.

Has anyone on of these big heads and extensive media "questioned" -- why that exception happened --- why could the "replacement" not worked in there --- whats is with "Barun Sobti phenomenon" -- content bigger or the actor --- Balika Vadhu case story has been a total slap on 4Lions Face -- "karma" is indeed a bitch !!!

"Of course there have been shows that have been called off air after one of the characters quit. Like when Barun Sobti quit the show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?. However, such examples are an exception rather than the norm now, feel actors and producers of shows. "

Priya the 'Barun Sobti phenomenon' happened because the actor rose way above the character that was written on the paper. He and Sanaya were the only reason people even watched this show with all its loopholes and blooper of story and no decent costumes. In that case the PH and channel should have worked together like how Rajan Shahi is doing for Kuch toh Log and should have decently buried this show without the blame game. But then when the egos of the people involved were sky high - you can hardly expect them to give credit to the actors for the work they did.

I agree with you - the replacement of Toral and the winding up of Kuch toh log have indeed been slap on 4Lions faces - Both the PHs showed how to be professional when the lead actor quits. Be decent and don't make mockery of everything and everyone involved. Indeed it was a slap on 4Lions face.

I'm happy with the way the replacement has been handled in BV. Like you said, what a slap on 4lions and Star Plus' face!!! Both the rival channels have handled their actors' decision to quit with so much of grace. Replacements can work if the makers and channel have faith in their product but if they themselves are unsure of their show and nothing can save the show!

They never considered giving our show a second chance!
