and death penalty is not the answer castration is

Bold is exactly what I thought too!
And plus, they should castrate him as soon as they catch the culprit, not grant him bail or wait for months and months before finding him guilty!

Bravo that you went for a protest match.👏

Where are the pankhis when you need them?
Why no spamming and protests now?

To be honest Mehak, it doesn't. When people freak out, they stop living normal lives. Let's think about this rationally for a second. Delhi is a city of over 10 million people. It is absolutely unreasonable to expect that absolutely no crime would ever be committed in a city of this size.

Do you think every time there's a murder or assault, people should just sit cowering in their homes, worried sick about what would happen to them? Should parents stop sending their kids to school after Newton? Or did NY collapse after 9/11?

But unfortunately the media coverage in India is so sensationalistic (you have no idea - banner headlines in newspaper, non-stop reporting in 24 hour news channels) that it freaks people out.

I dont agree with the media sensationalizing such stories. Or even the killers from these shootings. It sends wrong messages for a variety of reasons.

And no don't cower and hide out but fact remains, there are some places where you can't be as carefree as one would want to be. It pays to take the initiative to protect yourself when the situation seems to be getting worse, not better.

I dont expect there to be no crime esp in big cities but at the same time I expect the cops and govt to be on my side. If thats not the case, if there is even a doubt of whos working with who...then I rather be informed, even if its through the OTT media reporting.

If that leads to more than needed freaking out on my part, then I will live with it. Beats getting gang raped.

My aunt was visiting from Pkaistan once, and I got home around 11 one day and she was amazed at the fact I felt safe being out so late or that my parents weren't freaked out either. And when I visited Pakistan, the girls aren't allowed to leave the house alone during the day, forget about staying out at night.

Exactly Mehak. Why's there such a difference in some parts of the world? My parents freak out when they hear I come home at all times of night but then I know what's safe for me and I know I wont get attacked if I want to stay back and work.
The difference of mentality in South Asia sometimes astonishes me.

Woman are always blamed ..

there is a recent case in KSA.
A father killed his 17 years old daughter because she was caught with a 4 men, he killed her without knowing if it was rape or she went with them willingly.( I'm sure it was rape!)
I was reading the news and I read the readers comments .. I was shocked !
about 90% of the readers were justifying what the father did , saying that killing her better than bearing what people will said about her and her family. and some of them sympathies with father!
most of them didn't talk about the 4 adult men who exploited a teenager !!
Many societies encourage these psycho perverts !

honor killing is something that has gained ascendancy with every father brother uncle and nincompoop of a man spouting that their honor was being besmirched when many a time the poor girl is completely innocent and may have just turned accidentally in the direction of some man completely oblivous to his presence but to these idiots she had already slept with him and it does not surprise me over what has happened in KSA Have read enough and the mutaween are misogynistic to say the least
