Mum said that she has a full right as a person to decide who she wants and who she doesn't, she was like it should be only her decesion without betting influeneced by anyone. she also said that we shouldn't do anything for the sake of others which we might regret later and blame ourselves for not being able to stand up for ourself. She was like they are your parents and they need to understand sooner or later and its all up to you if you're able to make them understand or not, You need to convince them by hook or by crook.
