Hey Abeer!! đ¤ đ¤ I have loved DHoni since I saw him...with that long hair and that dashing confident attitude. Sachin is great...no doubt there but I had this superstition that whenever Sachin makes a century, India loses. And just before the game with Pakistan I read in the paper that Ashmit Patel had said the same. đ đ đ So I didn't want Sachin scoring his 100th ton against Pak or Lanka.
I like Sachin but Dhoni I admire. Sachin had a brother who took him around, a great coach who coached him and all the right surroundings to help him. Of coure that does not take away the fact that he was and is indeed a great player. But Dhoni, Dhoni epitomies the small town Indian dream. Ppl talk of the American dream. Small town indians dream of what Dhoni achieved. Dhoni has had no coach, no mentor...he comes from a humble background. His father was a punp operator at Mecon India ltd. This boy was just good. He worked at a TC in Kharagpur...a job he got via the sports quota....a job he desperately needed. From a TC to the hero India loves. What a journey!! His poise, his calmness in the face of a storm, the confidence he exudes...where does all that come from? I am amazed by what a small town boy with grit and determination, talent and a lil' luck can do. Sachin is Sachin...will always be a legend..a great player. Even he said today that Dhoni is the best captain he player under. And trust me, he knows...he has played under six captains. Dhoni is a different league...a man most men desire to be.
