Hey Guys,
Don't remember which version of Ramayan this is in, but I remember I read this somewhere...it is an explanation of Sita Ma's origin where she is not the daughter of Ravan.😊 In this version, it says that when Vedavati burned herself upon being defiled by Ravan's touch, Ravan gathered the ashes and kept them in a box in order to 'trap' Maha Lakshmi into submitting herself to him later on. But no matter how many years passed, the ashes remained ashes and Ravan soon bored of having them in his palace. Each of his brothers, when they opened the box, saw the ashes in a different form. Kumbhakarna saw the ashes as Kali, Indrajit saw the ashes as a rakshasi who was set out to destroy him, while Vibhishan saw the ashes as Maha Lakshmi herself.
Mandodari on the other hand saw the ashes as a baby girl, and she was very mystified and worried. She consulted the Kulguru of Lanka and he told her that the baby girl was going to destroy them all if she was kept there any longer, and that she would have to be disposed. Mandodari did not have the heart to kill the girl, but for the safety of her husband and Lanka, she asked two of her guards to take the box with the baby girl in it and bury it somewhere far away. The guards reached the outskirts of Janakpur and buried the box there, and some time later, Raja Janak found the box with the baby girl while he was ploughing the field to perform a yagna, thereby naming the girl Seeta after 'Seet', which meant 'plough'.
There are soooooooooooo many origins about Sita Ma's birth, and like Anku said, each and every one can be true because the Ramayana happened so many times in many Maha Yugas.😊
On the other hand, I learned something interesting while reading the original Valmiki Ramayana the other day (my family ordered copies from India), about how the Ramayana did not happen in every Mahayuga, but in a Mahayuga twice or thrice before this one, and how in this Mahayuga's Treta Yuga, the Ramayana did not happen, while in this Dwapara Yuga, the Bharatham did happen....will look it up and share it with you all. It's really interesting.😊

I can narrate d whole story to U...
Mandodari was a very b'ful demon princess...bt no1 dared to marry her..coz she had a terible curse on her..dat her frst child will bring misfortune n destruction to her husband...Ravan heard abt all dis n approached Maydanav saying -"I'll marry Mandodari..even after knowing everything abt her"
Mandodari gave birth to a daughter...n she was no1 else bt Bhagwati Seeta..😊..Bt Ravan was afraid frm inside n was told dat he should kill dis baby girl...Ravan called 2 of his Dwarpals...n ordered dem to kill d baby girl..😭
The dwarpals saw d baby girl bt couldn't kill her coz she was soooo cute n b'ful...when they looked @ babyy Seeta...she smiled so innocently dat their heart melted...n they decided not to kill her wth their own hands wth any weapon n ol...😛 bt they were also afraid that if Ravan wud know dis dat they haven't followed his orders den..he'll punish dem to death....so they burried d girl very very far away frm Lanka...so dat no1 can know abt dis...they burried d girl in a trunk...which was later on found by Seerdhwaj Janak..i.e Janakji

So Sita mata might be Ravan's daughter? 😲 Thank you for sharing this, I enjoyed your post 😊

No problem, glad you enjoyed.🤗
We don't know for sure. It just depends on which version of the scriptures you follow.Smile Since we are in the Kali Yuga, we have sooooooooooooo many scriptures, and that too different version of each one, so we just follow the one that's closest to our heart and believe what is written in it.
Some scriptures say the Ramayana happened in every Mahayuga, while other scriptures say it happened in the 24th Mahayuga, while we are now living in the 28th (just looked it up). So some people believe 28 Ramayanas happened for each Mahayuga, while others believe that only one Ramayana happened and that too in the 24th. All depends on the Purana you choose to follow.Smile My family believes the 24th Mahayuga version....we do not believe that the ramayan happened in the Treta Yuga of this Manvantara, but the Treta Yuga of the 24th Manvantara. On the other hand, it is generally agreed by most scriptures that Krishna Avatar happened in the Dwapara Yuga of this 28th Manvantara, so there was a HUGE gap between Ram and Krishna Avatar if you believe in that version, while for us, Krishna avatar was not so long ago.
By the way, in reply to your comment to Gunia, we are just discussing the various versions which talk about Sita Ma's origin. Sitaji being Ravan's daughter is written in some versions, while in others, she is not the daughter of Ravan.
Valmiki Ramayana, and also Tulsi Ramayana (Ramcharitmanas) describes Sita Ma as Ayonija, which means 'one who is not born of the womb'. So according to these versions, Sitaji could not have been born of Mandodari's womb because she was Ayonija. She merely appeared in the Earth where Raja Janak found her.
However, it is interesting how other versions describe the birth of Sita Ma. I tend to believe Valmikiji's version of Sita Ma's birth, because I see his as most accurate, and after that Ramcharitmanas (since Tulsidas is said to be a re-incarnation of Valmiki), but it's interesting to learn about the other versions out there.Smile

Different versions of the Ramayan, which Manvantara the Valmiki version happened in, different stories about Sita Ma's origin (whether she was originally daughter of Ravan or Ayonija), and basically different versions of the scriptures and interesting stories we read from each.😉
