A.R. Rahman was also there.....good singing overall in the epi but marred by a lot of OTT nautanki by the mentors *rolls eyes*

Oh and Harnoor ladaaoed panja with John and actually beat him...lol

Ohmygod! Thank you for reminding me!! *plants a huge kiss on your cheek* My brother keeps on telling me that JA is buddha now.. 😕 and I'm like shut up! 😆

And the songs of that new John movie aren't that great.....I heard a little on the show and thought to check 'em out on YT baad mein but they were just OK types....surprising given that it's A.R Rahman's music......and the story of the movie doesn't look that interesting either.

After a point all the ideas of the makers get exhausted as these shows run for very long periods of time and since they have to keep them going despite that, most often they either drag or compromise on the content or totally digress from the basic theme with which they began the show. Now that the audience are used to the Mon-Fri routine it will not do to suddenly make all the shows weekly either. I think that in order to ensure good quality content as well as have a show on air daily these daily soap makers should set definite time periods to run their shows irrespective of whether they are successful or not and pen the script accordingly. For instance if a production house A is planning on a new show they should decide that this show will run for a maximum of two years airing five days a week and depending on that they should pen the script with appropriate tracks based on the theme of the show and after two years even if the show is still loved by the audience and audience want to see it more, it should be taken off air as per the plan. This kind of approach will ensure quality content minus the dragging and digression which are synonymous with the daily soap trend in general.

I think weekly shows and even daily shows that have a definite story, a story with an END written out before hand have better content than these never ending soaps. But then for a show to be actually 'successful', it's not the planning that would matter...it's the mindset. That needs to be changed for ppl to accept the change and DEMAND better quality. Kaun mehnat karega on the story when they can make a show successful by adding HAWT scenes...

@Anu: LOL I forgot to add "as we do" beside "If we have such quality shows" , I edited it later after I re-read my post and realized that it came out differently from what I actually wanted to imply. The point I was trying to make was pertaining to the approach of daily show script writing considering the low quality content we have on TV in general. But yes I have to agree with you - we cannot really expect these TV channels to deliver quality content. Engineering taught us that 100% efficiency is impossible so there can NEVER be a fool proof technique so I was only putting forth my POV as per which I think that such approach will at least not compromise on quality as much as it is being compromised on now.

About R.com- honestly , the reason behind R.com's failure is not the content- it was the poor marketing and promotion that failed it, Sony is to be MAJORLY blamed for it. Their strategy to bank on an unconventional and completely new show to take their channel to the top was a huge risk which did not pay off, they were WRONG to have adopted that approach in the first place - R.com was considered a failure by the channel because it did not scale the standards they set and expected which they have set just based on the banner that produced it instead of considering several factors based on which TV business works which is why I believe R.com deserves a second chance.

I agree with the poor marketing and promotion strategies...And yet a show like MW, who was also promoted or rather not promoted in the same way, got comparatively more TRPs and is getting a second chance too....*sigh*

Back!

@Mash: Yes you do have a solid point , I cannot ignore it but those shows are not so much of a commercial success if you take into account the statistics - NONE of those "hawt" shows have great TRPs but they continue to run because of the strategy which the channel adopts. The channel knows its audience and the maximum TRPs it can expect for its shows and since the target audience lap it up happily giving them the TRPs they expect these shows click . Most of these shows are popularity based than content based and that is precisely what the channel and makers of these shows bank on PLUS the crazily hyped promotion of these shows attract not only the loyal viewers but also disinterested viewers like you and me once in a while - if you take into account all of this , the channel pretty much manages to sustain itself based on its caluculations and approach. It is a completely different thing that they NEVER try to go that extra edge to get better ratings by giving some thought and dishing out quality content-wise. It is unrealistic to expect people to change the mind set , if one is setting out to change the mind sets with their show then business factors should not be given prime importance but if one wants to deliver quality as well as get commercial success the key is to find the target crowd that is LOOKING for quality and then work their marketing and promotional strategies acoordingly, setting their expectations taking all these factors into account. This is where everything went wrong in the case of Rishta.com. I maintain that the channel's adopted strategy and the ensuing expectations of that were completely in the wrong!

Well firstly Mahi Way was promoted better than R.com ever was . Secondly MW was a show that connected with the masses, let's keep aside the fact that it went off in a completely different tangent and proceeded without much sense, but the fact remains that the whole weight issue always found a connect with the audience somewhere. Now R.com is a different show , shows like R.com will have a niche audience and they are not mass shows which is why the channel should have tried to tap on that range that enjoys shows like R.com instead of expecting everyone to lap it up or hoping that people's mindset would change.

Most importantly Sony never promoted the high points of R.com - like Rohan quitting R.com, Isha's closeness with another guy affecting Rohan, Isha knowing the truth of the other guy and Rohan coming back to R.com esp. the season finale etc,.

EDIT:

Ok gals sleep over tonight, friends home- gotta go bye!

Okay I just saw till the 3rd part.. A mere glimpse of V-S makes me grin.. I'm pathetic! *shakes head hopelessly* This second girl, I don't know her name.. she used to be in laughter challenge.. I thought she could sing thora bohut because she always imitated Lata Mangeshkar.. But she's pretty good.. and she's quite sombre here.. 😆

Edit: Sughanda.. Is that her name? That's what I caught when John called her.. 😕

Oh I just re-read your post Anu, John kissed her!? Bahh. *loads the other video* 😆

Saw it! Haye! John is so sweettt! 😍 That girl is SO lucky! *sigh*
