Hmmmm....I'm a die hard HP fan....like REALLY die hard....this series is very close to my heart and a part of my childhood memories in a way....I've grown up along with it....even if it was a 'young adult' series, I freakin stood in line on the day the books used to come out to buy them....
OMG you too? Same here! I'm a very, very ardent HP fan. One of the reasons it's close to my heart is because just like you, I kinda grew up with it. I've got so many fond memories attached to the series. And lol, I too used to buy the books right on the day they came out. It was such a wonderful phase, haina? Waiting patiently for the next book to come out, keeping an eye out for any news regarding the release dates, re-reading the last book to 'prepare' for the new one (or at least I did that ... lol) and finally rushing out to buy it. The excitement of holding the newly purchased HP book in your hands was something else, man! *sigh*

Anyways, my point is that some things should not be dragged out after a point....you should let the ending be and not try to extrapolate and go on random tangents beyond that point cuz sometimes there is a sanctity in the ending that should not be disturbed.....ppl want to exercise their imaginations....that's what FFs are for....but when a story reaches a logical conclusion, I see no reason to randomly start the same story all over again with the next generation of those characters....this is not a soap or a TV drama that such things need to be done.....do we see Lord of the Rings 4 being made?? The adventures of Frodo's kids?? Nope....then why exactly do we need to see a story about Harry's kids??😕.....HP7 was the end....and I'm happy with that end.....I'd rather re-read the entire series for life than have to watch a quite possibly cringe-inducing attempt to milk more of a 'story' out of these characters.
You know what, you have a good point there. And suddenly I'm not feeling
that excited about the sequels ... since I also subscribe to the theory of leaving a series untainted by avoiding any sequels after a logical end, reading your post reminded me of that.
But oh well, I guess if JKR
has to come up with the new series, I'll surely read it. Hopefully it won't ruin the image of the original HP series.
About the Damon/Elena sig, thanks ... but I didn't make it. Found it in the Vampire Diaries book club section of IF. :-)
