Just finished seeing the the episode from friendscorner ........... Th anks Sam
What happened was quited the expected thing................ Poor Arfeen! He couldn't even stay angry with his far from innocent parents. Out of pity and helplessness, he holds his beseeching father close.
Just as I said......................... he is now once more in the witness box this time facing his children.
Sigh ..........................

Saba has a daughter Sara Arfeen has a son Haider
Take a close look at the children:
While in the dark, Sara was prompt to judge her mother wrongly just the way Arfeen did. The only difference was that that assumption didn't hurt or affect Saba because there was no cause and effect syndrome for her. She weeps in misery thinking how she thought such a vile thing about her own mother whom she knew for years. Now tell me in the given circumstances how is she any different from Arfeen? He too loved Saba and judged her wrongly, and Saba suffered for it. But in essence aren't they the same? Didn't both of them jump the gun? Didn't both of them repent the way they thought abt Saba? If Sara decides to punish Arfeen mentally, I'd be very disappointed. She shd instead understand how and why his mistakes kept on snowballing. He had a set of aggressive parents who brought abt a chasm in their (Saba + Arfeen) relationship. And although they continued to love each other, the gulf could never be bridged.
Haider listens to the whole story and sighs. He understands that human relationships are a bit more complex than what the eye sees. He immediately realises that Sara has understood the history behind Saba's leaving the household and has left. She will not return on her own and it will need some sleuthing. So he sugests the police. He knows and liked Saba ............ in the same way he has got to know Sara and likes her too. Mayhaps he thinks he can undo what wrong his father did to her mother. But then I can't be sure.....it's my notion. He is more like Saba, ready to forgive. But he is one ahead of her ....... he is ready to forgive and retrieve, ready to forgive and patch up. I feel he will be the ultimate binding material between Saba and Arfeen, between Sara and Arfeen. He is so unlike Mah and dotes on his father. He also knows that he is the product of a broken marriage, but so far I haven't seen him blaming his father for it.
However, I don't know what twists Umera will decide upon. 😕

The Fathers ......................This will be the next topic.
I haven't finished with Haider either and he will follow this, then Saba and then Arfeen again.
I wonder what Umera will think if she knows how much we are dissecting her novel ........ 😉 😆 😃

@ blue - if i knew of any way of contacting her ... i wd send her the link to this thread😊 bcos the dissection here is exhilarating ....

great analysis btw ... the sara and arfeen connection 👏... but in defense of sara .. she based her opinions on the half-truths that she had learnt ... look at the facts ..... normally the victim doesnt cut off all contact with the family .. its the victimizer who often has to break all bonds ... rather ppl break all bonds with him ... here off course the opposite happened but i think considering what sara had to go on ... it was a natural assumption on her part ....

arfeen on the other hand ... he was fed a lie .... but with him it came down to either standing with his wife or his mother and he unfortunately chose his mother and paid the price ....

haider is a gem .... do men like him really exist?

I think Sara was certainly at fault for doubting her mother's credentials. After all Saba was her only family for 20+ years and was a good mother to her. Kya Ammi ne dhokha diya......? It was Arfeen himself who refuted this theory in some episode.
My observation is that even she made the mistake of doubting her mom for a fraction of a second, so she shd understand Arfeen's plight. It was a mistake but she can be forgiven for it.
