I was soo positive that Aaja Nachle would be a hit, but no it wasn't. I can't believe films like that don't succeed, but films like KI do! I am afraid the only reason Aaja Nachle didn't succeed was because the actress was the hero.

That is where the problem lies.. actresses are not even meant to act in most movies.. they are just like a decoration - it's pathetic! Why blame the actresses? Heck, I can't even blame Katrina because the audience accepts her and so do her producers/directors. The main focus is always on the actor; they don't cast a talented actress opposite him because he might get overshadowed and you don't want that.

Nimmi, I will check it out. I still have that list in my agenda; I will try to get it this weekend for sure!

Kully, that was such a great post, that I can come and hug you. *squishy wali jhappi*

Dude, hasn't that always been the case? Actresses are merely the cohorts of their male counterparts. It's not like these actors have talent anyway, which is most likely the reason why they pick models, who can act like another set decoration or support the actor in some way. 😕 Also interesting to note, most B-wood films are told from a male perspective.

You stole my thoughts. Not all the time, this is the case, but most mainstream Bolly movies(that I don't watch anyways) seem to have females as just eyecandy. Housefull will be a film like this to come. Why is Meghan Fox successful? We all know the reason. *winks* Though movies like Zubeidaa and Fiza are my favorite Karisma movies and probably the only ones I like of hers, how many people have watched them?

Aamir is doing 3 Idiots Soha, and I have mixed feelings about it based on what it is being adapted from.

You know what's sad about all this? That the audiences who rush to watch every Akki film, or SRK film, or [insert hawt actor with a six pack and threaded eyebrows] are composed mostly of women.

Honestly, I could say that sex appeal is all that matters, which it does, but there are exceptions, of course (Kajol). Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of feminist moviegoers who think like we do. 😉

You see, it really starts to look like a male oriented industry because of such issues. An example would be "Dor"...that movie was fantastic but it didnt gather much recognition from what I know. You know what it lacked? The so called glamour and action!
The audience doesnt pay much heed to the acting...as long as the actresses looked good and acted all pretty, they'll enjoy the movie and the next thing we know the movie becomes a superhit! WOW!

While watching NEW YORK recently, I kept gasping, and sighing as to how bad Katrina 'wood face' Kaif's acting, or lack thereof, was .Everytime she'd appear on screen, I'd make a noise as if I was in sheer pain. Sitting right behind me was a group of guys, who made similar, 'painful', noises with a caption added: 'UFFFFFFF COME TO DADDY'

🤢
