Neeta, I don't disagree with you for the most part. It is just the issue is gray for me in the sense, that it is more than a simple exchange of money for a service. Part of that is due to stigmatization of the practice and well its inherent nature makes it complex as an issue. But yes, I do think legalization will help in that regard with regards to protection. Although, I do think that some of the causes that lead to it flourishing also need to be looked at as well.

Sure, it is indeed a financial transaction. No disagreements there, but I suppose I am venturing more towards a philosophical argument here so I will leave it there. Crudely, it will bring the government income in taxes, but I guess it just makes me uncomfortable considering the nature of the actual practice and how it has been used to subjugate.
